Come and tell me your positive stories - found lump on breast

And the doctor found more on both breasts... I've got a urgent referral for scan.

Back story I had surgery in Dec 14 and March 15 for total duct removal, while I was getting these done I was tested for BRCA1/2 and tested positive for both.

Why couldn't we have found them after xmas Xmas Angry positive stories only please.

Can I ask what happened after you tested positive? I didn't know you could be both.

Nothing currently, I choose to think about my options, as to have my fallopion tubes and ovaries removed I had to wait to few years.... recommended she is 35-40, however with the breast removal I could have as soon as I wanted.

rare to have both.

So sorry that you're going through this, it's scary, I know...
I had a bug lump come up literally overnight a few weeks ago.. it got infected so I was put on antibiotics and, like you, got an urgent referral to the breast care unit...the appointment came through within a fortnight.
I saw a specialist first who drew on my breast where she could feel, what she said we're, a small series of cysts. She then sent me for an immediate mammogram where they seemed to faff around getting extra 'shots', I was then told to wait whilst another consultant had a look at the results and was told I may need an ultra sound....I was starting to feel a bit uneasy at this point... I then had an ultra sound that focused on the drawings on my breast....they could find nothing...it was all clear..after 2 hours of 'pooping myself' I was discharge and sent home..all clear!
Took me a couple of days to get the felt pen off my boob where the 'series of cysts' were not!
Good luck! Hopefully you will be fine. It's best to get it checked x

sorry to hear you are going through this stress. However, wanted to,say that even if it is sinister, then the treatment and recovery is excellant for the majority of people. I had it four years ago, a colleague twelve, and mother in law, over 17 years. The outlook is good for most people with breast cancer (plus I got to see a really dishy consultant recently!)

Trying not to think about it, but it's there, and won't blardy go away, but can't tell anyone as don't want to ruin anyone's Christmas, stoopid thing.

So sorry you're going through this. I have multiple lumps in my breasts and they're all benign cysts. They occasionally get infected somehow and give me mastitis but otherwise totally harmless

I also had a total duct removal a year or two back (under local anaesthetic...)

I have really lumpy cystic breasts too - last scare was over the summer when the U/S found a complex cyst. The breast unit did the biopsy there and then and after an agonising wait for the results they were inconclusive and I was scheduled for a mammatone biopsy. Another agonising wait for results which confirmed benign. Even better, the mammatone had totally removed the lesion.

The only person I told was a friend who was currently undergoing BC treatment herself and she pretty much held me together for those 3 long weeks. I was planning my funeral. I was sure the radiographer knew it was cancer and just wasn't telling me.

Forgot to say - the friend with the B/C has now finished treatment and is back at work. Her surgeon did a fabulous job on reshaping her breast after surgery. It looks really good.

I have on 3 separate occasions found lumps on my breasts (and panicked!). I was referred to the breast clinic, some were benign cysts or fatty lumps which came up on an ultrasound and once I had a biopsy and it was fibro- edenoma (definitely not how it's spelled, sorry, but is again harmless).

I suffer health anxiety after the death of my dad, so I literally obsessed about these lumps and was completely convinced it was cancer. Thankfully I was wrong! Well done for getting these checked out - it took me an embarrassing amount of time to go to the gp as I was so scared. Sending positive thoughts x

I had a limo a few years ago and was referred for an ultra sound. They said I was fine it was a breast mouse (!?) and often caused by trauma... anyway it cleared up all on its own. So scary though! Sorry you are going through this stress, especially at Christmas.

Two aunts and my mother, all had the gene, all went through treatment, all came out the other end just fine with long and positive lives.

Have a hug (I'm a hugger, what can I say) and know that we're rooting for you lass xx

My lumps turned out to be an allergic reaction (sort of an internal one) and I too had to go through ages and ages of worrying.

I found a lump in my breast, was sent within the week to the breast clinic, they were lovely . Was only in my 20s so too young for a mammogram. They did a needle biopsy which sounded dreadful and the needle looked HUGE. I asked if they had a numbing gel or local anaesthetic, they said no because otherwise it interfered with the resultsSad it was actually not that bad, a bit uncomfortable but just as it started to get painful it was done. So it was honestly ok. They told me I could go home and wait for a call with results or could hang on there with a cup of tea and they could let me know in about an hour. I waited, itwas a cyst.
The other thing as a heads up for you, I had to strip to the waist and wait for the consultant. He came in the room and from opening the door his eyes literally never left my chest, he barely made eye contact the whole time I was in there. he was nice, he spoke to me a lot and answered questions etc but addressed everything to my nipples! It was very odd. I think they check symmetry and skin puckering etc so all sorts, not just the lump iyswim. Was just a very odd experience.

My DW found a breast lump 3 years ago. She had a mastectomy, and 18 months ago was told by the oncologist not to attend any more clinics as the cancer is totally away.
No more cancer and loads of good times to look forward to :-)

I had an urgent referral for scan for a lump I'd found. The doctor found more on examination which scared me but they were all benign and I had a cyst drained.

I do hope everything is okay and that you try and have a great Christmas even with the worry...try not to think about it- it usually is nothing but treatment is excellent these days. You're in great hands Flowers

I found a lump a few years ago. I will never forget first finding it there. It felt like my heart stopped for a good 5 minutes. I was referred to the breast unit within 3 weeks. It turned out to be an oil filled cyst and they drained it off.
Hoping yours turns out to be as easily fixed. It's a shit time of year for this kind of thing to happen Flowers

Like 22agreenends, I did end up having breast cancer. I was in my twenties. Over five years later, no reoccurences, and I even went on to have another baby. I have health problems but they aren't related to the cancer treatment. My oncologist has to check my notes to tell which was the affected breast as my treatment was that successful that it's hard to tell! I have no idea whether I'm BRCA+ as my family didn't qualify at the time for testing.

I'm crossing everything for you that it'll be fine.

Found a lump in July. Went to doctor who found another and referred me for an urgent scan and blood test. She seemed really serious and I was convinced it was cancer. Couldn't sleep, eat and convinced myself I had months to live. After a very thorough check (mammogram and scan). They turned out to be cysts and apparently I have lots and that is quite normal. Sure yours will be OK too xx

I found a lump at the armpit edge of my breast earlier this year. After several tests and a few weeks of worry, I was told it was "accessory" breast tissue, and was duly discharged from the breast clinic. The vast majority of lumps are nothing to worry about and those that are troublesome can be treated well these days Xmas Smile

I was diagnosed with bc in 2009. Most women with lumps do not have bc. I was a bit unlucky -especially since I'd had and fed 6 kids for two years each. Anyway it wasn't something you'd wish on someone but was nowhere near as awful as one imagines. Surgery was fine - lumpectomy and all my lymph nodes removed. Back driving and to work four days later.
Chemo was OK most of time. Only felt grim a couple of days every three weeks. Worked throughout except the chemo days. Radio was boring, just boring. Lots of scare stories it it is entirely manageable and you come out the other side stronger and more confident, oddly.
Now very slightly smaller on one side but generally the boobs are good.

I found a lump , my mum and grandma both had breast cancer ( my mum although a vile woman alive and well)

I am considered increased risk particularly as my mum was 40..anyhow..they found lump was a fatty mass... no treatment required.

Hi there. Long-time lurker, finally joined just to share another positive story with you. I was diagnosed in 2011 with a fairly large lump plus node involvement. Chemo, rads, mastectomy. Full recovery and celebrated five years all clear last summer with my brand new baby boy, conceived naturally (ahem - unexpectedly) four years after diagnosis.

Hopefully yours turns out to be nothing but treatment really has come a long way. Even with chemo I never felt as sick as some of the hangovers I've given myself in the past. Good luck!

Approx six months ago, I found a lump and my GP found more I was referred for an urgent scan. It was cysts . The NHS currently have a two week pathway of referring breast lump patients to a clinic I believe

On the subject of having things weight on your mind over the festive season - my son is having some urgent tests early January for a possible life changing inherited condition that he appears to be showing symptoms of. I am absolutely shitting myself and feel the complete opposite of festive I wish Christmas would fuck off.
