And the doctor found more on both breasts... I've got a urgent referral for scan.

Back story I had surgery in Dec 14 and March 15 for total duct removal, while I was getting these done I was tested for BRCA1/2 and tested positive for both.

Why couldn't we have found them after xmas Xmas Angry positive stories only please.

That did make me laugh justilou! I had the same thing said to me when I was about 20 and weighed rather less than I do now!

gottagetthroughthis It's going to be a long 2 weeks for you I'm sorry. I'm also back on the treadmill. The consultant told me last week that breast pain is rarely a cancer symptom and my own new lump is almost certainly just a cyst. I'm now waiting for a ultrasound appt and probable draining.

Mine is a stupid one, and I hope it gives you a giggle...... I went to the doctor (panic-stricken) who said "You've lost a substantial amount of weight, haven't you?" I told her that I had been dieting and exercising and had lost 40kg. She held my hand, looked me in the eye and said very seriously, "Darling - that's your rib." I nearly died of shame.

Out from appointment.
All ok. Just fatty tissue likely related to hormonal changes close to period.
No treatment needed, no need to come back.
Doc said it's very likely that she to some other stresses in life my usual pms symptoms are heightened and that it's all perfectly normal. Smile

Here's hoping it's all ok tomorrow thankyou ladies.

Likelihood is that it is just a cyst. I panicked when I was referred. Turned out to just be breast mice (ie small lumps that move around like mice). Of all the daft terminology!!

No family history of Breast cancer not Brady cancer.

Thanks for advice everyone.
I'm just so afraid of what will be said, being still pretty young with no history of Brady cancer in my family.
I'm hoping that the doctor I saw at urgent care is correct and that they see a cyst, and just drain it.

If they biopsy it takes about a week for results - and waiting for those results is pure torture.

Speaking for the RUH in Bath, If they can give you the all clear at the appointment they will - and they'll drain any cysts that need it there and then for you.

yellowfrog · 16/01/2017 15:44

I suspect it depends what they will tell you on the day. Sometimes they can't officially tell you as they wait for the doctor to review the results. I would go along assuming they will do the full range of tests and that way anything they don't do is a bonus.

Recently been through this. Although I had to wait for the official results, the radiologist who did the ultrasound told me it was certainly cancer in the day.
Loving the positive stories.

Thankyou for the tip. I'd say they see nothing of concern on ultra sound and don't do a biopsy does that then mean this scare is all over? Or would I still need to wait?

Report
yellowfrog · 16/01/2017 15:33

Don't expect results on the same day - I assume they have to send the samples off somewhere/get someone to look at the scans, etc. They will probably tell you how/when you will get your results back, but ask them if they don't mention it. Take a book/something to do to the appointment as there's bound to be ages of waiting around!

Did you get your results the same day? So much in my head. Thanks for advice though. And thankyou I'll update once I know more

I'm pretty sure referrals are always fast, so don't worry on that score. Biopsies, if they do one, are also fine - lots of local anesthetic so it won't hurt. Worst bit when I had one done was the room was bloody freezing, and I had my top off of course :)
Best wishes for tomorrow.

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly.
I guess I'm hoping they'll do examination and ultrasound (I believe my age means I'd have ultrasound over mammogram) shows nothing to worry about.
I feel the panic it all happening so fast.
Is it normal that this can be referred so very fast?

Report
Elphame · 16/01/2017 14:58

Please don't panic - these are the symptoms I had when I had the duct removal + a bit of bleeding. It was a totally benign papilloma.

They'll biopsy if they aren't 100% sure of what it is. This papilloma was not biopsied.

On Saturday just gone I had a sore left nipple. I squeezed and some discharge came out (greenish) by Sunday morning pain had completely gone. I then had a bath and felt what I believe to be a very small lump, I couldn't shake it off so I went to urgent care at my local hospital. I was seen after an almost two hour wait where I had breast examined the doctor said she could feel something but thinks it's a cyst but wanted to do two week urgent referral. I went home and just cried panicked I have cancer, I'm almost 29 years old and have two children aged 4&7 years.
Today I have a had a phone call saying that my appointment is tomorrow at my local hospital.
I don't know if having this happen all so quickly is actually a bad sign I mean I was only referred yesterday, but again the appointment is within the same hospital so maybe that's why it happened so fast they only had to walk upstairs to hand over he form.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that what I've had is nothing and that I'll go tomorrow have ultrasound and no need for biopsy.
I was told yesterday it would be triple assessment but have since read the biopsy is only done if something is seen on ultra sound or mammogram, is this correct?
Thanks for responses in advance if I get any

I found a lump on the inner edge of my boob. They said it was a breast mouse and it stayed for ages. Then one day it grew, and grew, and grew and I had insane pain with it, burning red hot. Antibiotics and it exploded, the sporners would have loved it Wink
Anyway the breast mouse went Grin and it's never been back since! Plus it was quite spectacular which made me happy

My DM has found several lumps over the last few years. All benign cysts and she's now been diagnosed with fibrocystic breast disease. The larger ones have been aspirated, the smaller left alone.

It's always a worry, as she lost her own DM to breast cancer, and some aunts too. But as they died so long ago and as she hasn't had/got cancer she's not been able to be tested for BRCA1/2. She's also a pensioner herself now and older than her DM was when she died (and nearly 20 years older than when her DM first got ill) so she feels that she is very lucky and hasn't opted to be tested privately.

She is just vigilant, and encourages me and DSis to be as well, which I think is the best way really.

Wishing you a positive outcome Flowers

Hugs OP. it is terrible timing for you coming up to xmas to have this weigh on your mind

Approx six months ago, I found a lump and my GP found more I was referred for an urgent scan. It was cysts . The NHS currently have a two week pathway of referring breast lump patients to a clinic I believe

On the subject of having things weight on your mind over the festive season - my son is having some urgent tests early January for a possible life changing inherited condition that he appears to be showing symptoms of. I am absolutely shitting myself and feel the complete opposite of festive I wish Christmas would fuck off.
