They seem to be keeping it a bit quiet...

Fuller report here (not a DM link)

Ha! Serves them right, and it's about time they were called to account for the hateful bile they pour out (particularly regarding Muslims)

I saw it retweeted on my twitter feed ( I obviously don't follow the hateful woman) she released it at 2.00 am. I cant imagine it was on the front of the mail either. Surely even Hopkins won't enjoy this sort of publicity?

GraceGrape · 19/12/2016 14:33

Good on the family for standing up to them.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 19/12/2016 14:33

Good

Serves them bloody well right

Apologies should have to go on the front page...

Indrid · 19/12/2016 14:37

That's awsome. Now she should be punished for her disablist diatribe. The UN have found the the UK are the first ever country to violate the convention on the rights of people with disabilities, in part due to media scapegoating us. Kh is definitely part of that.

thetemptationofchocolate · 19/12/2016 14:38

There was a petition which I signed recently, which was campaigning for a rule stating that a newspaper apology had to be the same size and given the same prominence in the paper as the original insult.

I'm glad they have had to pay up, this is great news :)

Leanback · 19/12/2016 14:39

She was on the BBC radio 2 this morning and I had to turn it off.

I wish we as a nation could go NC or LTB.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/12/2016 14:42

Fantastic. About bloody time they were made accountable for their big mouths.

FatherJemimaRacktool · 19/12/2016 14:56

Apparently it's her most-retweeted tweet ever: www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/katie-hopkins-apologises_uk_5857b020e4b0e9baa877e873?utm_hp_ref=uk

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/12/2016 15:04

Apologies should be the size and font and position of the original story. And in Katie's case, also wallpapered to her house.

Bestthingever · 19/12/2016 15:06

I agree the apology should be as prominent as the offending article. It was a disgusting thing to write.

BakeOffBiscuits · 19/12/2016 15:07

Thanks for posting this OP. It bloody we should be on the front page of the paper and prominent on their website.

I bet it's nowhere to be seenAngry

Those poor men must have gone through hell.

OlennasWimple · 19/12/2016 15:08

I completely agree - it's appalling that an apology can be hidden away on page 17 in tiny print and that's deemed acceptable Angry

I hope they're taking the fine out of her wages.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/12/2016 15:09

She should be sued constantly until the amount she costs the paper is no longer worth her salary.

RoseGoldHippie · 19/12/2016 15:10

That woman has no internal filter. Just because you think something, does not mean you have to say it out loud Katie!

Whatsername17 · 19/12/2016 15:13

Agree with pp that the apology should be front page. That woman is an embarrassment.

Aoibhe · 19/12/2016 15:13

I've always wondered if she truly believes what she says, or if she's just a hired troll?

Either way, I wish she would disappear now.

I found her mildly amusing in the beginning, but she's just vile now. I'm delighted to read this, and would never have known, so thank you OP

Twogoats · 19/12/2016 15:13

In a few weeks, jack Monroe is taking her to court too!

Good luck Jack! Rinse her dry! Smile

MyWineTime · 19/12/2016 15:15

I wouldn't want a fake apology - she doesn't mean a word of it. I would want a retraction. I would want to see in print - "I was completely wrong, I made lots of groundless assumptions and made statements with absolutely not a shred of evidence. I made things up in order to promote my column."
But there again I would want that to be followed with a letter of resignation from the media and to hear that she was last seen crawling back under a stone.

dingdongthewitchishere · 19/12/2016 15:16

It's hardly hidden though:

mudandmayhem01 · 19/12/2016 15:17

Unfortunately Rose I think she knows exactly what she is doing. She is now a very rich woman and I am sure this fine won't come out of her pocket or lose her her job. There will probably lots of idiots who still support her and will go free speech innit and political correctness gone mad. Being hateful is her job.

PausingFlatly · 19/12/2016 15:21

Katie Hopkins ✔@KTHopkins
The Mahmood family – an apology www.dailymail.co.uk/home/article-4046558/The-Mahmood-family-apology.html …

So the weaselly little shit didn't actually say "I'm sorry" - or anything much at all. Just linked to the Daily Mail.

'Cos she's so brave and straight-talking, obvs.

Arlowthegooddinosaur · 19/12/2016 15:22

she is a vile awful woman, I thoroughly despise her for her awful views and smug face.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 19/12/2016 15:30

Personally, I don't know how the woman lives with herself.

Does she seriously go to bed at the end of the day, thinking back over her latest public service announcement thinly veiled Hate Speech , big smile on her face, under the impression she's helped make the world a kinder, better place? Jeez.

She seems to have so little understanding (or is simply too jaw-droppingly arrogant to care) about the very serious ramifications caused by her attitude of "oh-look-at-me-how-brave-and-honest-I-am-I'm-only-saying-what-most-people-are-inwardly-thinking"...

(Bollocks. And don't you dare believe you speak on my behalf with your vicious nonsense, KH).
