Please tell me I'm not alone, and other people can't have certain words used around them?

Oh has just used the worst one, (moist) Angry even writing that makes me shudder. It knocks me sick when I hear that word.

Oh thinks I'm going crazy and I'm trying to prove I'm not with this thread. I also can't have clocks in the house, the ticking makes me want to rip my ears off. Dickhead husband calls me Captain Hook Hmm

Words turned into verbs, eg:

Labouring (in the context of giving birth)
Medalling- he medalled three times in the Olympics

Also twee alternatives for fart (all of them but mainly fluff and pump)

Fluff/fluffy etc - it's so horribly descriptive and I hate fur

Smalls/littles for children

Gillybean76 · 19/12/2016 13:13

Ok so it's 2 words but i hate hate hate 'this one'. As in 'date night with this one' attached to a photo on Facebook.

Like nails down a blackboard

YY to
panties
nibbles

I also dislike the word breakfast, the overuse of "iconic" and the phrase "get in".

Snowflakes1122 · 19/12/2016 13:32

Baby Daddy

xStefx · 19/12/2016 13:33

Bae and Ickle - Make me want to scream :-(

SignOnTheWindow · 19/12/2016 13:59

Sourced

Gifted ( particularly when used as a verb)

KatsutheChristmasOctopus · 19/12/2016 14:05

Property when they mean house. Get very cross at Homes under the Hammer type shows where they say it every 5 seconds.

topaz22 · 19/12/2016 14:15

pee
loo
festive Xmas Hmm

topaz22 · 19/12/2016 14:17

ergh and ravenous. makes me cringe every time dm announces it

EdmundCleverClogs · 19/12/2016 14:43

One that often is used on here,

Craft or crafting

No, it's drawing or art or making a bloody mess. A craft is building furniture or making special ale. Always imagine it being said in a long, drawling, pretentious voice as well 'oh, the children were craaaafffting this afternoon'.

The word soothing makes my skin crawl as well, for some reason.

anyname123 · 19/12/2016 15:28

YY to 'this one', makes me want to block the FB if it who dared to us it. Also, not a word, but people who endlessly # at the end of every FB post. Just stop.

Ok, so I know it's two words but "reach out" just makes me want to hurt someone. Or vomit. Probably both. It's a vile Americanism that for some reason has crept over here and I'm hearing it more and more frequently.

Meeting Wanker: "Yeah, I've reached out to Amanda from HR about that..."

Me: "No, you've fucking emailed her!..Just say you've fucking EMAILED Amanda from HR you massive twat! Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!"

If people don't stop using this phrase I'm probably going to get sacked soon. Or arrested. Probably both.

Elphame · 19/12/2016 15:43

Furbaby - I say no more

BlueNeighbourhood · 19/12/2016 15:47

Hun (Which is mega unfortunate DP calls me it all the time - only person I just let do it)
Belly - Much prefer tummy
Fancy
Cock - it makes me cringe even typing it.

Jointhejoyrun75 · 19/12/2016 15:49

Broody. Don't know why, I've always loathed it, reminds me of a moist hen. Drinkies. Playdate. Reach out, little man. Slash/piss, as in I'm going for a slash/piss.

BlueNeighbourhood · 19/12/2016 15:52

Oh and people who say Xmas. I've banned DP from saying that one in messages to me, it's just says 'exmas' not Christmas. Stupid stupid abbreviation.

EdmundCleverClogs · 19/12/2016 15:57

BlueNeighbourhood actually it isn't that stupid- the X is still representing Christ, in the Greek sense.

Deux · 19/12/2016 15:57

But Xmas is OK surely, as the X is the ancient symbol for Christ?

Deux · 19/12/2016 15:58

Crossed posts. Xmas Smile

scampimom · 19/12/2016 16:00

"Impact" as a verb. They mean "affect" and what they say is "compress and squish up 'till it's solid".

scampimom · 19/12/2016 16:01

Bog
Snot
Fanny

Katiepoes · 19/12/2016 17:01

Dixiewishbone may I add 'pop of colour' to your list? Stupid word.

Peckish. Gifting. Most abbreviations - congrats, uni are among the worst.

Top of the list though? 'Lovemaking'. Uggghhh.
