To get so angry watching Love Actually?

I don't even have a partner that's cheated on me but after seeing so many friends going through it the Emma Thompson/ Alan Rickman story just seems so "real life"

I wonder what the the writer had been through to get it so right

Love it, probably my favourite Christmas film.

I've yet to see it but I've heard people raving about it. This scene really puts me off watching it TBH. I just hate story lines like that and I just end up feeling angry.

I think the Emma Thompson/ Alan Rickman storyline is great because it wasn't written as a huge dramatic showoff with screaming and shouting and throwing plates, just crying alone, quiet discussions and trying to keep up appearances.

I love the movie.
As for the link: I've yet to read something from Jezebel that wouldn't be hateful and bitter. It's a cliche with them.

God yes, that scene in the bedroom and then how she pulls it all together so they can go to the school show, because that's just what she had to do.....

I agree about Keira Knightley, I don't know what it is but she just fucks me off in everything she's in, I think its her face lol sounds awful I know but something about the expressions she pulls

I saw an interview with ET where she said she based the performance on how she felt when Kenneth Branagh cheated on her with Helena BC

I don't mind KK but she drives me mad in this film 'oooooh I look quite pretty' SHUT UP

I don't understand how K Knightley can't act in anything without doing that stupid pout (just watched the ET scene on youtube and she is amazing)

He is eyeing up that blonde Carol at the concert, then they are together at the airport a month later

ok green I need to re watch this. But yeah that's shit.

I love it but I'm awarthat I have to seitch my thinking mind off a fair bit. It is what it is and it doesn't have to be perfect.

Emma Thompson brings me out in hives.

I have to sit on my hands to stop me slapping the screen.

I quite like it but hate the bit about 'messages of love' during 911 at the start then the little boy runs through the airport security at the end.

I cried with laughter at the nativity scene containing the sea creatures!

And the sheer unadulterated happiness of Kris Marshall turning up in an American bar and discovering that his accent really does make him a babe magnet.

As others have said most of the other storylines are twee or unrealistic or a bit annoying (so glad to finally find other people who dislike KK btw!), but Emma Thompson had me in sheer floods of tears. It was just incredible, if a bit difficult to watch, and made the rest of the movie worth it (kinda).

I love this film, but I would have loved it more if it had just been two stories, Emma Thompson / Alan Rickman and Liam /wife/ son.
That would be perfection.

And the Rockstar story!

The film is 13 years old, I think. I don't reckon many of them would still be together 13 years later!!

One of the writers tweeted live through it about a year ago, she answered loads of questions

One of them was about the Alan / Emma storyline and apparently the bit of the girl in the red dress smoothing out the bedding just before she puts the necklace on is showing that she's just had sex with him. I think the writer said alan and Emma "did remain together but nothing was ever quite the same again"

Alan Rickman, hope this isn't his legacy. Sheriff in boots that's my memory (derail alert)
