Bastardwanking Amazon!

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 13/12/2016 22:16

I ordered an item on express delivery at the end of November. When it didn't arrive, I spent three hours on live chat to ACS...they kept disconnecting me, then asking me the same questions over and over again, giving me conflicting info from the previous advisor- the previous info was still on my sodding screen ffs!- and generally pissing about.

They offered me a refund, which- after telling me they weren't allowed to (!) they paid straight into my amazon account. I was able to buy the item again, and it was delivered the next day by courier (not yodel thank fuck!)

Now the other bastarding parcel has turned up.

And Amazon are acting as if I'm making it up! The item is shown as "delivering on..." and I didn't have to sign for it- so there's no proof!

Amazon are refusing to take the other item back unless I pay postage, etc. I don't have a printer to print off the label they provide. And I'm still reeling from the second bout of rude and patronizing contact I had over the live chat thing this afternoon.

AIBU to keep the item here, and, should they pursue it, refuse to send it back until they arrange postage. I KNOW it's only a few £, but it's the principal, no?

Aware this post is long and ranty- sorry.

Umm, I wasn't confused and now I am... I thought they werent refusing to pay as they were providing you with a free return label?

Amateurish · 14/12/2016 11:10

Just keep it. You are making the whole situation much more complicated than it needs to be.

I use Amazon pretty much daily and have always received good service.

Elphame · 14/12/2016 11:42

You've tried to return it - Amazon are being awkward. Despite my own over zealous conscience I'd keep it and probably give it to a charity shop.

I'm having my own fallings out with them at the moment. A tree ornament missed it's delivery period. They wanted to refund, I said I wanted it re-sent as it had gone up £5 in the interim... Amazingly it turned up the next morning by first class post after them saying it couldn't be resent!

An amazingly an expensive item was handed to us by the courier on Sunday. A complete Christmas miracle as both DH and I were 50 miles away at the time and it was actually just abandoned on the doorstep. It could easily have been there for days. That did make me angry. It was an expensive item and had it been stolen I'd have been hard pushed to prove I hadn't received it. It makes a complete mockery of the tracking service.

FGS I really wish people would rtft before commenting amazon haven't told the OP that she can keep the 2nd one that arrived they have told her to send it back but she has to pay for the postage but she couldn't print the returns label out because she doesn't have a printer but now she has asked for her friends help to print it out so she is returning it. OP return it if you want to but I think it's unfair and wrong that you have to pay the postage when it was amazons cock up not yours.

Peanut the confusion was my fault entirely. When I started this thread it was after yet another round of ACS chat. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I suffer from anxiety, and it's DC's main "Santa gift". I had visions of it (when it got lost in transit) not being here on time and having to rush around trying to find an alternative main gift for them.

I'm seriously confused (like several others) because it sounds like you've had a refund and they're not asking you to send back the original (and refunded) item that has now arrived. Is that not good? They're not insisting that you send it back when you can't print off a label - they're just saying (it seems, it's really not clear) that if you don't use their label then you'll have to pay postage (which is reasonable, and I think they usually reimburse that anyway, or used to). They seemed to have acted really well - and to be honest I've usually found that about them when they've screwed up.

LouisvilleLlama · 14/12/2016 15:16

It's I've RTFT and still stand by the notion that they have said to OP to keep it but she was insistent on returning it so they have said that she would have to pay postage. Which is fair enough as they don't seem to want it back.

Just keep not sure what there is to feel guilty about? Similar happened to me with different online store and when the original item turned up they said I could keep it or sell it on no need to return.

Yes but it sounds like OP is saying she's insisting on sending it back despite Amazon not being convinced she's actually received it, but because she can't print their prepaid label out they're saying she'll have to fork out for postage.

LouisvilleLlama · 14/12/2016 16:16

I'm not sure because I had to pay to return something and it was almost as expensive as the item

Amateurish · 14/12/2016 16:24

"AIBU to keep the item here, and, should they pursue it, refuse to send it back until they arrange postage. I KNOW it's only a few £, but it's the principal, no? "

No, YANBU. Do nothing. Keep it in a drawer and forget about it until and unless Amazon ask for it back and arrange collection.

Last week i smashed my lovely nearly new samsung 7edge and was thankfully covered by insurance. Monday they deliver the new one and pick up my old one. However new one turns out to be wrong phone in box Hmm. it was a 7 instead of 7 edge. They sent me new 7 edge today but courier refused to take the other phone back. Im not waiting around for them to collect it again, already had my day ruined having to wait in today. Will be interesting to see if they contact me to pick it up again.
