Period problem at work! (I'm hiding in the toilet!)

Not aibu, posting for traffic need urgent suggestions!

Just got to work i'm in the toilet, about to start soon.
Came on this morning, put a tampon in and stupidly only put one more in my bag and forgot my purse (because I'm an idiot!!)

Im usually not that heavy, but just got into the toilet looked down, blood everywhere bled through super tampon I literally put in an hour ago, bleed through onto pants (both sides!!) Tights and skirt are ok (for now!( and thankfully wearing black and sit on black chair!

I have about £2 in change, there's no shops that sell pants anyway around here but there's a little boots that will sell tampons (hopefully I have enough right?!!) What if I don't???! I don't have time to go now, lunch is at 1 so ill go then and put the tampon I have in now but if I'm bleeding like this already there's a good chance I will be a mess by then! any suggestions? tried to clean up pants with toilet paper but they're still wet!

There was a lady on here recently who had an unusually heavy period and it turned out to be quite serious, not wishing to worry you but if this is unusual for you would be worth speaking to a Dr.

BumDNC · 13/12/2016 17:13

I had a massive flood over 8 hours in a public place just the other week it was awful. I had no change couldn't leave and no shop. I wasn't sure if it was a medical emergency but I made a giant toilet roll nappy and changed it every hour. Saw GP the next day she didn't seem to think that much blood was a problem Hmm

BumDNC · 13/12/2016 17:14

But my GP was a cow - I think you should call 111!

Ohdearducks · 13/12/2016 19:06

Hope it's eased up OP

KatherinaMinola · 13/12/2016 19:29

Please ring 111 - that other poster had similar and it turned out to be a very serious haemorrhage! There's also a possibility it could be a miscarriage - even if you don't think you're pregnant.

Manijo · 13/12/2016 20:01

Good to hear that you got yourself sorted. This happened to me when i got to my mid forties. I'm a teacher so it was a bit of a nightmare with having to stand all the time. Would always wear black trousers for that week just in case. Ended up having a Mirena coil fitted. Best thing I ever did...no more periods

Arghhhhhred · 13/12/2016 20:04

Bleeding has increased to changing super tampon every twenty minutes!
I called 111 when I got home and they had a doctor ring me back who told me to go straight to A&E. Erghh it's going to be a long night Sad

Oh OP, hope it turns out to be nothing serious. Good luck, thinking of you!

1horatio · 13/12/2016 20:07

Yes, do that!!! This stuff could be dangerous.

I'm waiting for an important call, so I'll be up for the next... well, something between 2-5 hours. So, if you want somebody who writes back... I'll be here and bored.

But seriously, do that!! Go there ASAP. This sounds dangerous. Take care

mysistersimone · 13/12/2016 20:08

I hope you dont have to wait around for long and ypu are OK

Lissettethehallswithholly · 13/12/2016 20:09

What a day Op. Hope you are seen quickly. Didn't think you'd end up in a&e when I read your first post this morning. Better to get yourself checked.

Bravas · 13/12/2016 20:13

You poor thing, take care, you must be feeling quite weak after all that.

Glad you've gone to A&E. Wasn't there another poster who had a similar experience recently and ended up in A&E?

Backingvocals · 13/12/2016 20:34

Flipping heck. Poor you. I hope you get this sorted soon.

I've learned so much from MN. I didn't know until that previous thread that this sort of flow was a medical situation. I think as women we are so used to just dealing with ridiculous physical situations - and even on this thread it was all about just dealing with it and cobbling together something with loo paper which we have all done - that it can be hard to identify that actually sometimes periods are a real medical issue.
