To wonder where on earth have all my teaspoons gone?

Seriously, I must buy a replacement pack of teaspoons at least twice a year!

No packed lunches so not falling to an untimely death in the school bins.

I'm almost certain the ds' have had them in the fiddly small yoghurt pots.... but never see them in the bin either. Maybe some teaspoon munching gremlins?

Does anyone else suffer with Houdini teaspoons? Come to think of it the dinner knives are looking a bit thin on the ground (in the cutlery tray) too...!

Where is my cutlery???

Same thing here too! I swear they grow legs and wonder off!
Forks aswell just seem to vanish!

coulditbeforever · 06/12/2016 20:10

I was only saying the very same thing this morning OP... must be a teaspoon thief about Wink

Laiste · 06/12/2016 20:10

YABNU. I have the same, except i know where mine go.

Just about every bloke on DHs building site is stirring their cuppers with one of mine as he lends them out and they never come back HmmGrin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/12/2016 20:11

Same place as mine, and my big spoons.

JellyBelli · 06/12/2016 20:11

I threatened to put all our teaspoons and Bic pens on elastic.
I was rewarded with the nickname 'Paulines Pens' (Roston Vasey) and came into the kitchen one morning to find the last remaining Bic attached to the calendar with a wad of sellotape on 2" of string.
The fuckers!

isthistoonosy · 06/12/2016 20:12

We are awash with teaspoons and knives to the point of packing some away. No idea where they have all come from!

TheMortificadosDragon · 06/12/2016 20:16

The phenomenon of teaspoon disappearance has been studied www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1322240/ but afaik they didnt find out where they went. We seem to have a couple of possibilities on this thread.

iklboo · 06/12/2016 20:18

They run off with the odd socks.

Badcat666 · 06/12/2016 20:18

Teaspoons and fucking forks! I swear to god something is coming through the catflap at night and nicking them from the cutlery drawer!!

Elllicam · 06/12/2016 20:18

I worked out I accidentally bin them while throwing away used tea bags. Could that be a possibility?

Paris1986 · 06/12/2016 20:19

We've got about 10 that I've not bought! DH brings them home with his packed lunch so there must be lots of people he works with wondering where theirs have gone. I'm married to a teaspoon thief Blush

4men1lady · 06/12/2016 20:19

Dh's apprentice just throws them in the bin as he can't be arsed to take it home with him..Hmm

TroysMammy · 06/12/2016 20:20

When I lived on my own I would have the occasional stock check of cutlery. All present and correct. As soon as someone moved in items would go missing. I've had my everyday cutlery for about 20 years and only 5 items have disappeared. Three of those are teaspoons!

SpangledBoots · 06/12/2016 20:20

Probably in the same place as all the hair grips, hair ties and pens which seem to vanish!

megletthesecond · 06/12/2016 20:21

Check your back garden. Your dc's have possibly helped themselves to spoons for digging or mixing something.

megletthesecond · 06/12/2016 20:22

And the knives.

I noticed mine were disappearing. DS had been swiping them to use for bushcraft in the back garden.

4littlemonsters · 06/12/2016 20:24

I think isthistoonosy might have them all!

I had the same problem with egg cups........clearly I was 'sweeping' them off the plate into the bin Xmas Blush

MiddlingMum · 06/12/2016 20:37

Do you have teenagers? If so, the teaspoons will be in their bedrooms, in mugs with the remains of mouldy tea, or stuck to the bottom with dried up hot chocolate.

We found a cup in the cupboard this week that nobody has ever seen before Hmm

Hassled · 06/12/2016 20:38

Down the side of the sofa, or under the sofa. Or stop looking for teaspoons and start looking for pens, because the teaspoons will be where the pens are.

LostMyBigGirlPants · 06/12/2016 20:40

I'm with you OP. This afternoon, I was down to my last teaspoon. It's only DS and I here so no problem - except that half an hour ago, I went to make a cup of tea and THE FUCKER HAS VANISHED!! I had to use a dessert spoon to add the sugar. My tea was very sweet......

Ankleswingers · 06/12/2016 20:43

This is exactly what happens to us all the time Grin

Last Sunday, DH went out and purchased two packs of the things. Prior to that we were down to two, and I honestly have no idea where the others went Confused

FrogTime · 06/12/2016 20:43

I'm missing half my good spoons!

I've even gone through every single tea spoon in the work cafe to see if one of mine from my lunch had gone in their dishwasher by accident. They haven't.

It's a mystery!

Watto1 · 06/12/2016 20:46

I'm just glad that Sainsburys do boxes of Basics teaspoons otherwise I would be spending a fortune on them!
