To wonder where on earth have all my teaspoons gone?

Seriously, I must buy a replacement pack of teaspoons at least twice a year!

No packed lunches so not falling to an untimely death in the school bins.

I'm almost certain the ds' have had them in the fiddly small yoghurt pots.... but never see them in the bin either. Maybe some teaspoon munching gremlins?

Does anyone else suffer with Houdini teaspoons? Come to think of it the dinner knives are looking a bit thin on the ground (in the cutlery tray) too...!

Where is my cutlery???

Oh dear,

It may be coincidence, but only today my DBro has posted on facebook because he has a drawer full of teaspoons and no idea where they have come from.

I think teaspoons must be migratory, and all of yours have fled to DBro's house (where there are no toddlers OR teenagers) for the winter! Grin

Hey diddle diddle,
The cat played the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed,
To see such fun,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Any dishes missing?

donkir · 06/12/2016 20:55

My 14yr old ds collects them in his room. He then gets worried that his dad will find them and tell him off so rather than being them downstairs he hides them under his mattress Shock

Lolimax · 06/12/2016 20:55

Blame teenage boys! Only tonight DS 18 came downstairs with 6. Nice kid, disgusting bedroom.

CHJR · 06/12/2016 21:06

In our house they somehow react with clothes hangers and both dissolve into very large dust bunnies under all the beds and all the white goods.

4littlemonsters · 06/12/2016 21:08

Teen ds has recently decluttered and a deep soaking of mugs, bowls and glasses was completed. No rogue teaspoons though.....

I'll see your teaspoons and raise you a colander. How the fuck did we manage to lose one of those?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/12/2016 21:24

Oh, I lost a big cheese grater once.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 06/12/2016 21:39

I have loads of teaspoons but not enough dessert spoons. Are they shrinking? Are yours growing?

Rachie1986 · 06/12/2016 21:42

Yes! Mine always disappear.

I blame the borrowers.

Redglitter · 06/12/2016 21:43

I have a ridiculous lack of teaspoons but more big spoons than I know what to do with. I can only assume my tea spoons grow up to be big spoons and move to that section of the drawer

I bought a set from Wilkos, they looked really cheap but I was low on teaspoons at the time Hmm

Then I realised they were great for DS's little yogurt pots, as they were a bit smaller than regular teaspoons. Brilliant!

Except now the last one has vanished without trace. Oddly, they ALWAYS come back in DS's lunchbox, coated in slimy fromage frais, together with the other lunchbox debris that he could put in the bin at school, but chooses not to.

So where did they all go?!?!

SixthSenseless · 06/12/2016 21:53

Depends on the ages of your children and other family.
Pre-school; posted down drain.
4&5: thrown into bin , still inside used yogurt pot.
Older: just lost
Teens: festering in mugs, yogurt pots, cereal bowls and old lunch boxes in bedroom.
Uni: half inched 'sorry, didn't think you would need them now , it's only me who eats endless yogurts'

JayDot500 · 06/12/2016 21:54

They're a perfect size for the smallest hands in my home Sad

Farmmummy · 06/12/2016 21:56

They have run away with mine and my knives, forks oddly enough are all accounted for Confused

listsandbudgets · 06/12/2016 22:00

I went on a hunt for them today.

3 in dd's desk drawers

2 down back of sofa

2 in cats bed covered in yogurt and fur!!!

1 in half eaten yogurt in fridge

1 in ds's bed

hope that helps

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 06/12/2016 22:00

They're just keeping all the lost, odd socks company Wink

listsandbudgets · 06/12/2016 22:01

oh and whoever has my knives please ask them to find their way home

SleepFreeZone · 06/12/2016 22:13

This thread has had me laughing 🙊

SecretNutellaFix · 06/12/2016 22:25

We are down to exactly half of each cutlery set of teaspoons.

We also appear to be missing a rather large stewpan. I had three, all with lids, plus a giant pasta pot with insert and a lid. The giant pasta pot is residing at my MIL in readiness for the Christmas ham, I have three lids and only 2 pots. Where is it? No DC in our family either.

4littlemonsters · 06/12/2016 22:25

Checked the sofas (underneath and down the sides) nothing, rechecked teens room - nothing, checked under other 3 ds' beds - nothing, checked my room - found 1 under the chest of drawers with 3 odd socks - looks unused - no idea how it got there!!!

Think I've discovered some sort of dimensional wormhole where the teaspoons gravitate to - thank god I saved 1........

Spoons go into yoghurt pots/cups of hot chocolate and rarely return in my house (either left to languish and grow mold or get thrown away - a miracle in itself!). Forks, similarly get left in pot noodle/takeaway packaging and generally thrown away because it's easier to do that than wash them.

Cups/glasses take very long vacations and often return the worse for wear briefly before embarking on their next jaunt. Plates are kept on a short leash - we don't have many spares!

Spot the owner of a teenager...

LilyRose16 · 06/12/2016 22:36

At the moment in my kitchen I have 6 plastic containers with NO EFFNG LIDS!!!!!!!

4littlemonsters · 06/12/2016 22:43

Plastic tubs 😳 My nemesis.... always need them..... never any lids to be found....
