Festive door bows. Yes or no?

These are tremendously popular round my way. AIBU to think they look a bit shit? Your door doesn't look like a wrapped present. It looks like it's got some cheap fabric pulled over it. And lord knows how manky it'll be by Christmas since most of them have been up since mid November. And the ones I've seen selling on Facebook look so overpriced for what they are.

Nicely wrapped up for the burglars.

JayDot500 · 07/12/2016 12:41

3am that's exactly what my husband said

Wookiecookies · 07/12/2016 12:44

No no no no.

And if you are the sort that has a bow, and ridiculous blue ambulance lights (see other thread) then I am judging you. Yes, you.

Essex yes! I am just on the edge of London/Essex and have seen lots.
They are terrible

Well, I've never seen the like. They certainly haven't made it to my area. I make my own wreath and it takes pride of place on my door til around April. So I certainly won't be succumbing to this new fangled trend. One of the Google images had a lady posing sexily by her bow with her boobs thrust out, another reason why it wouldn't work for me.

NotAPuffin · 07/12/2016 13:10

Pinterest has a lot to answer for.

Mirandawest · 07/12/2016 13:17

Haven't seen them round here

purplefizz26 · 07/12/2016 13:21

Unless you have a porch to protect from rain/mud/shit weather they are pointless.
Ones I have seen are literally splattered with mud. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a mud splattered bow Xmas Confused

SerialReJoiner · 07/12/2016 13:22

I did see a black and silver one today. Not exactly a festive colour scheme, in my opinion.

CaraAspen · 07/12/2016 13:24

No. fortunately I have never seen anything like this.
Is it an Essex thing?

CaraAspen · 07/12/2016 13:24

No. Fortunately...

Cocolepew · 07/12/2016 13:44

None around my way, I could be the first to do it ! I did see car antlers yesterday.

Noodledoodledoo · 07/12/2016 13:49

Another Essex resident here - the road in Brentwood my hairdressers is on is full of TOWIE shops all of whom seem to favour a door bow. All year round!

I think they are weird and pointless. Not something for me at all!

bunnylove99 · 07/12/2016 13:51

Step away from the bows - tacky as hell! They are spreading around my neighbourhood too.

Madhairday · 07/12/2016 14:03

Never heard of them til the other day when I saw something on a local FB page, someone selling a 'tailored door bow service' - apparently they go to your home and give you a quality fitting so you don't have the hassle of doing it yourself. All for £40 Shock

They are the epitome of Naff.

TheNaze73 · 07/12/2016 14:04

Wrong on every level.

NO

Losgunna · 07/12/2016 14:07

I'm in Liverpool and it seems like every other door has one of these hideous things on it. They are very tacky IMO. You can be festive without being gaudy and ugly. And I like multicoloured fairy lights!

Roussette · 07/12/2016 14:14

WTAF?! They're vile! (Just had to google as I've never seen one!) But I suppose they're better than this wreath which just looks like a bumhole

The ones I can see on Google images actually look tasteful (well, not quite) compared to the ones I've seen in rl. Think very thin red voile type material with lots of ruffles and bells and stuff on it.

That anus wreath may well have just spoiled my Christmas Grin

That anus wreath looks like it has a bad case of threadworms... Grin

bumsexatthebingo · 07/12/2016 14:33

Can you hide threads you've started? Grin Definitely needs a trigger warning now at least!

They are unusual but made Ds smile so can't be all bad!

ElleMcElle · 07/12/2016 14:40

Hugely tacky. But isn't that the true meaning of Christmas?
