Festive door bows. Yes or no?

These are tremendously popular round my way. AIBU to think they look a bit shit? Your door doesn't look like a wrapped present. It looks like it's got some cheap fabric pulled over it. And lord knows how manky it'll be by Christmas since most of them have been up since mid November. And the ones I've seen selling on Facebook look so overpriced for what they are.

I've just googled them as I haven't seen one yet - one of the images is of a double garage with a bow on each door! Made my own wreath for our front door tonight.

Blerg · 06/12/2016 21:36

bumsex yeah they were attached to the radiator grille bit at the front (non driver!) like those big Comic Relief red noses people used to have on their cars but bigger.

Not seen car antlers yet!

Clairerandallfraserthe1st · 06/12/2016 21:37

Came on to start this thread. I hate them..they seem so 80s style in my head. However most importantly how the hell do postmen get the letters in letterboxes when they are covered in loads of crap!!!

SleepFreeZone · 06/12/2016 21:39

I've never seen any either 🤔

silversun · 06/12/2016 21:42

Well they won't be getting any Christmas cards - the postie won't be able to put them through the letterbox!

DramaInPyjamas · 06/12/2016 21:43

I'd rather my neighbours had a shitty looking door bow than the 4 houses on my road competing with who as the flashiest brightest laser projector beaming all over the street and into the windows

paddypants13 · 06/12/2016 21:47

I really don't like them. I know someone who's made one in black and grey. It looks like the family are in mourning. Awful.

Then again I love multi coloured fairy lights so what do I know? Xmas Grin

lozengeoflove · 06/12/2016 21:49

Fuck no. They are so ridiculous and ugly and for some reason give me the rage.

thecolonelbumminganugget · 06/12/2016 21:49

I LOVE THEM!!

I live in a naice area and wish i had the balls to lower the tone with one. There's no place for tasteful at Christmas

JayDot500 · 06/12/2016 21:51

Another definitely-seen-in-Essex poster here. I thought they were crap looking wedding decorations until I figured it wasn't likely that Brentwood had a sudden surge in people wanting to hold wedding receptions at home Grin

Madeyemoodysmum · 06/12/2016 21:52

Snort. Love the Black Death crosses. They are pants.

NancyJoan · 06/12/2016 21:55

They haven't made it to my bit of Wales yet. I am glad.

Alex83 · 06/12/2016 22:06

We're in Brentwood too! If anyone wants to see a real life door bow then Brentwood is the place to come it seems Xmas Grin

Footinmouthasusual · 06/12/2016 22:09

tibb Grin I see what you mean

PacificDogwod · 06/12/2016 22:10

Door bows? For doors??
Pah!!

MLGs · 06/12/2016 22:12

I've never seen one either. Wreaths, yes. Door bows, no.

MLGs · 06/12/2016 22:14

Googled it. Frickin weird.

mumofthemonsters808 · 06/12/2016 22:24

They seem to have just sprung up from no where, everyone suddenly has one around here, very popular indeed.I won't be indulging in one, but I don't hate them, I think they probably work better on American houses.

OutOfBlueComesGreen · 06/12/2016 22:27

They're awful.
Am also in Essex & they're very popular here.

MollyHuaCha · 06/12/2016 22:31

Never seen one. Can you post a pic?

MollyHuaCha · 06/12/2016 22:32

Whoops... I see someone has, sorreee!

SantaPleaseBringMeEwanMcGregor · 07/12/2016 02:39

I love a nice red bow on a door.

CelestialLight · 07/12/2016 03:02

But why would you put a bow on a door? Bows go on presents don't they. You wouldn't give someone a front door for Christmas would you? I'm really confused, what does it all mean?

TiredBefuddledRose · 07/12/2016 08:12

Round here door bows seem to be popular with the same people who hang giant England flags out their window during football games

Bluntness100 · 07/12/2016 08:19

I've never seen one either. I bought a hand made wreath from a florist and it's really nice, first time I ever put something on my door, it was an impulse buy, but I can't imagine putting a big bow on it like that.

I guess each to their own. I'm not really a fan of gaudy over the top Xmas decorations and tend to be a bit bah humbug about that stuff, 😂
