A few years ago I was driving and listening to Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet. My DD1 announced she loved the song and was singing along heartily. It was about halfway through the song when I realised she was singing

"And he fell into a bowl of mix"

I cried laughing.

DS told me recently that she had been listening to Alanis Morrisette and her DD was singing along then she asked why did he give her a cross-eyed bear?

As in " and I'm here to remind you.........of the cross-eyed bear that you gave to me.....you oughta know!"

The song The Final Countdown was on and my son must have been about six. Instead of Venus he was singing 'We're heading to Beamish' . They'd been to Beamish on a school trip!

DD9 likes to listen to Iron Maiden. There she was sitting with my headset on singing away to Fear of the Dog instead of Fear of the Dark.

"Jack makes meaty in the arm to be refused" took bloody ages to work out "jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled "

oh and thats just reminded me of dd1. If ever she needed a wee she would day "I'm feeling "

My dd used to sing "For he's a jolly good pharaoh" instead of "fellow" after the candles were blown out on the birthday cake. It's become family tradition now and we all sing it after "Happy birthday"!

According to DS, The Stranglers were singing about the former PM, Gordon Brown!

DD sings "move like flapjack". She won't have it that it's Jagger.

In Y1 ds started singing Paradise by Coldplay during a maths lesson... "Parrot, parrot, parrot eyes".
It became the class theme tune that year

'Uptown, funky worm, he's an.uptown funky worm.'

Spandau Ballet Gold: instead of "you're indestructible" my sister used to sing "you're indespicable". Used to make me think of Daffy Duck.

When my DS was little he used to think Guns n Roses Welcome to The Jungle bit where it goes "we got your disease" was "we got poor Denise".

Apparently, in the song fairytale of New York, "and Nanna sang a song"!!

It's actually "and then I sang a song"!

"Live And Let Die" will be "Little Men Die" forever more in our house!

Eldest DS... Rihanna rude boy became the robot song...

And not a misheard lyric but a changed one - my friend as a teenager had a huge crush on the footballer Marcus Hall. She used to sing along to Wonderwall and changed the words to "and after all, you're my Marcus Hall"

My dd aged then about 4/5 with slight speech delay kept asking for 'rock a, rock a pony'. I spent days scratching my head whilst she asked for it, pointing her chubby little finger at the CD player.

In the car a few days later and I put my pink cd on that was in the stereo, 'leave me alone, I'm lonely!'. My dd got so excited shouting 'mam, rock a rock a pony!! Rock a pony!' I still laugh everytime I hear it!

We were singing Little Donkey at dinner (as you do). DS has speech and language difficulties and gets confused with words.

Apparently Little donkey, instead of being on a dusty road, runs into the road and dies.

I think he got it confused with a police road safety presentation they had at school today.

I kind of feel like he killed the Christmas spirit a bit there.

My DD insists Elsa sings "the pasta's in the past" during Let It Go

Also the pizza hut song has become 'A big fat chicken and a pizza hut' instead of 'Kentucky fried chicken'.

My DS came home from nursery years ago saying they were singing about a baby called Manger...I I told him the baby was called Jesus but he told me I was wrong !!!

DD1 (age 3) thinks "Let it go" from the film Frozen is "Merrigo" and sings the wrong lyrics with huge passion. She also thinks the film is called Merrigo and asks for her Merrigo bag, bracelet, to watch Merrigo on the tv. It's very cute.

An old school friend used to think that ABBA's "Super trouper lights are gonna find me" was "Super trouper life's a cor ma blimey" which absolutely killed me

DS : "What's a 'steragol'?"
Me : "What's a what?"
DS : "A 'steragol', you know 🎶You might think it's 'a steragol'🎶"
Me : "Ohhh... it's hysterical. As in very very funny."

To be honest "a steragol" was very very funny.
