Tomorrow night me and DH are due to leave our DD overnight with my parents for the first time ever (she is 2, we don't get out much!!) for a friends 35th birthday.

The party has been cancelled, but we were really looking forward to some alone time.

Would it be really sneaky to not tell anyone and just have a night in on our own and a lie in in the morning?

We REALLY want to, but feel so guilty. Someone tell me we are not awful people and we should do it!?!?

Do it! Never waste a good pre planned babysitter session!

Champagneformyrealfriends · 25/11/2016 21:36

I would Grin

Oldraver · 25/11/2016 21:37

Or a different night out ?

ageingrunner · 25/11/2016 21:37

Of course do it. Your parents and dd will enjoy time together too won't they?

woodenmouse · 25/11/2016 21:37

Do it!!

sickofforgettingpassword · 25/11/2016 21:37

I think your parents would be disappointed if you cancelled, you'd be very selfish not to do this... 😜

happypoobum · 25/11/2016 21:37

Why don't you go out? Confused

MrsHathaway · 25/11/2016 21:38

Tell your parents it's cancelled so you'll go to see Fantastic Beasts and go out for dinner don't tell them about the chandelier-swinging sex while DD has such a super time with them. I'm sure they'll be more than delighted to keep their plans the same.

Blossomdeary · 25/11/2016 21:38

Oh do it - enjoy!

Hellmouth · 25/11/2016 21:39

Is there a reason why you just can't tell them the truth? Say the party's cancelled but you'd really appreciate having a date night /time alone together. Surely they'd want to look after their grand kid.

YoScienceBitch · 25/11/2016 21:39

I do this all the time! Tell my mum I'm going out but actually just sit in silence in the dark because it's so nice 😂

Meadows76 · 25/11/2016 21:42

YABU to lie to them. Why can't you tell the truth?

SneakyMcBeaky · 25/11/2016 21:46

Too scared to go out in case we get spotted Grin also just fancy staying in together very boring I know but just want some pace and quiet!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 25/11/2016 21:47

I would do it!

My inlaws have DS on a Thursday. Me and DH have both booked a couple of Thursdays off work in December so we can have some time alone together. We'll be telling NO-ONE!!

DramaInPyjamas · 25/11/2016 21:47

If you don't get out that much anyway, take this as an opportunity to go out somewhere else instead

DramaInPyjamas · 25/11/2016 21:48

Oops, cross post! you wouldn't get spotted in a dark cinemaGrin

sm40 · 25/11/2016 22:02

Say it's been cancelled but would love a meal out and would be good to know everyone can cope without you fir the night etc. They don't need to know if it's just McDonald's and at least there is some truth in it!!

EssentialHummus · 25/11/2016 22:04

Do it!!

7SunshineSeven7 · 25/11/2016 22:13

I would tell the truth - it'll end up coming out some way or another. I'm sure they're excited to have her for a sleepover for the first time and keep her anyway!

If they find out you lied they may never offer again!

Thatznotmyname · 25/11/2016 22:48

Christ! I WOULD!

leaveittothediva · 25/11/2016 22:50

Yes. Do it. Tell them it's canceled but your taking the opportunity to go out anyway, and plan something special. Enjoy.

Sixweekstowait · 25/11/2016 23:02

This has happened to my dd - she told us the truth and we insisted they did what they want with the free time including chandelier swinging sex as long as we still got to have dgs because who else would eat all the pain au chocolat and mousse au chocolat we had bought

Charley50 · 25/11/2016 23:04

Do it!

BlueFolly · 25/11/2016 23:10

I don't even understand why you would feel guilty about this!

Nanny0gg · 25/11/2016 23:15

I'd be quite happy if you told me.

I'd still have my DGC to stay.
