To think my uterine polyp came out on its own?!

I am waiting for a procedure date for a uterine polyp removal but (TMI ALERT) I just felt something 'passing through' (I'm on my period) and when I checked it looked just like the polyp...

I'm really freaked out!

How do you know what a polyp looks like? I'd still go through with the procedure if I were you, it might have been something else...?

I'll speak to my GP in the morning but I'm not sure what else it could be. I only had the scan this week and they didn't see anything else. I was hoping it was a coming thing so now I'm completely freaked out!

they can come out? I've had a few removed but would love to see one! I imagine them to look like mushrooms with think stalks - did it?

It's not likely that it was the polyp - they're pretty firmly fastened in. Much more likely to be a clot or just rubbish tissue. I used to pass all sorts of stuff. My procedure didn't work but eventually Mother Nature sorted it out with the menopause.

Don't worry, but mention it to the team when you go next.

My uterine polyp was the cause of my recurrent miscarriages and infertility. I wish that had happened to me!

My mums came out whilst out shopping. Freaked her out as she didn't even know she had polyps.

Hopefully that's it gone for you now.

Just remembered when I had phil (my last polyp) I used to have huge clots, I imagine from where the blood collected around it - I have no medical knowledge to back this up, but thought it worth sharing.

I had one and was reffered to another hospital for a scan and it was gone. The dr said it's quite common - apparently sometimes they have people in surgery and it's already gone! Didn't feel or see it come out though.

I m new on here as anyone ever had a cervical polyp i got told at a smear test i have one . I have to go and see a gynaecologist on wednesday im very worried and anxious are these polyps common

sr69 they are very common. I've had several, they come and go.

You can get them removed, some doctors don't bother.

I had a cervical polyp some years ago. The GP noticed it when I had smear test so did a gynae referral. I was told in the literature beforehand that I might have local anaesthetic so was pretty terrified imagining what that would be like down below.

Basically I was put with my legs in stirrups and it was removed (no anaesthetic) and I didn't feel a thing. The Consultant held it up and even my DH, who was in the office next door, heard him say that it was like a beautiful cherry.

It was sent away for biopsy and results were back in a couple of days (maybe it was quick as I used my private healthcare).

So don't worry. It was very quick and painless.
