To expect books to be marked at least once in ten weeks

DD started secondary school at the beginning of Sept. In some subjects (geography, science) her teacher has not taken in / marked her book once since then. Is this normal / acceptable? Or should I be on the phone to the school having a moan?
School is rather a closed shop: they don't seem to encourage parent-teacher contact apart from at parents consultation evening and it can be hard to know who to contact. Year Head? Head of Dept?

Over 10 weeks your child will probably have had only 1 lesson a week in most subjects

What?! 3 for MFL, so more for other subjects. Policy is every 3 weeks. I'd be appalled if my lot hadn't marked for 10 weeks and they would get a bollocking.

I'd be asking the school for their marking policy and having a whinge. I don't see why children should do work which isn't then marked.

I teach English and I have to mark every book every two weeks. Quite impossible on times, but I do it to the detriment of my personal life!. Whereas, members of SLT, who teach, haven`t marked theirs since the first week in October! Do as I say not do as I do!
