His bit with Rinder made me cringe so hard.

That kind of 'humour' based on the idea that gay men are predatory sex pests belongs in the 70's with Alf Garnett type sitcoms rather than 2016 doesn't it? Felt dated, lazy and really awkward.

Not that I expect Peter Kay to be at the cutting edge of comedy of course but still.

Just me?

oh come on - it was so obviously a pee take and judge rinder was peeing himself - I think some folks just enjoy being offended Confused

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 19/11/2016 23:42

Voodoo BC also officiated RR's wedding! That's one of my fave celeb facts

StrictlyPan · 19/11/2016 23:47

RR, Claudia and the rest were laughing their socks off. Yes it does fit into a 'gay men will fancy any man' thing, but the possibility of RR being attracted to that character is so risible.

It;s the northener thing which grates more.

DramaInPyjamas · 19/11/2016 23:47

I can't remember the details so I can't google, but he's done something like this on live TV before? It was an unscripted jokey comment - sexist/homophobic/or offensive to people with a disability on This Morning or The One Show?

He's not a very nice person irl apparently, Paddy and the rest of the Phoenix Nights cast all fell out with him. He's always on the 'worst celeb' threads on MN!

GabsAlot · 19/11/2016 23:51

theyve already made up drama done a charity show lst year

conserveisposhforjam · 19/11/2016 23:58

Um yeah laughing at someone because they are homosexual is homophobic.

When did it become ok to do shit like this and then afterwards just go 'oh no I'm not homophobic, despite having just done the homophobic thing' and then everyone Daily Fail readers would just go 'phew! It wasn't homophobic - they said so - we can carry on laughing at the fags - that's a relief'?

NoCapes · 20/11/2016 00:04

Yeah Peter Kay's a twat, everyone knows that don't they?

sandgrown · 20/11/2016 00:07

I'm with you Ella. I think JR stopped to shake PK' s hand as he came off the dance floor. Why is it ok to have sexual innuendo between Craig, Bruno and JR and not for PK?

Grilledaubergines · 20/11/2016 00:11

Homophobic, no.

Offensive, if you're very easily offended.

Depressing? Really? Jesus fucking Christ.

BlueFolly · 20/11/2016 00:20

It was awful.

crashdoll · 20/11/2016 00:41

PK is so unfunny. He is an embarrassment actually. Ugh..

Elendon · 20/11/2016 07:48

I'm not a fan of Judge Rinder, he's not my favourite on the show, but I was deeply offended on his behalf last night. It was callous and uncalled for and not humorous at all! And YANBU Op, I too think it was homophobic.

Rosa · 20/11/2016 07:57

Sorry I laughed ... But then I am from the era of Morecombe and Wise and the 2 ronnies ... so I will put it down to age.

Purplepicnic · 20/11/2016 08:06

Definitely made Peter Kay look like he's from the dark ages.

Qwertie · 20/11/2016 08:06

Yes, I thought so too.

Cosmicglitterghoul · 20/11/2016 08:11

I thought I heard Len say 'there was something queer about that turn' in reference to the somersault JR did at the beginning which went a bit wrong. However, I might have misheard.

RitchyBestingFace · 20/11/2016 08:11

YANBU

PinkiePiesCupcakes · 20/11/2016 08:14

All I see I Judge Rinder grinning like a Cheshire cat and fake laughing.
Its the same thing people do when their boss has cracked an unfunny joke at the Christmas party, they don't want to look miserable or upset the boss so they from and do the fake 'ha ha ha ha ha' laugh.

Peter Kay should be touring northern working men's clubs in the 80s tbf, think he was born just a little late.

kate1967 · 20/11/2016 08:16

I was offended on JR's behalf too. The first time PK did it was possibly funny in a 'retro joke' kind of way, and yes, JR did laugh. The second time, not so funny and then to go on about it i.e., "closed case" etc was cringe-worthy and boorish. What a prat.

ohdearme1958 · 20/11/2016 08:17

I think that was a very innocent remark. Very much the kind of language Len uses all the time.

PK on the other hand? He's had his day - a long time ago 🙄

honeysucklejasmine · 20/11/2016 08:24

I missed it last night... why is PK even there?

Saucery · 20/11/2016 08:26

He's got a show in Blackpool to promote. It's for charity so I suppose they had to let him join in.

chocolatemademefat · 20/11/2016 08:29

He's had his day -a long time ago. Really? Have you seen his ticket sales when he tours?

I like Peter Kay - and I also love and adore my gay son who was not in the least offended. It was a comedy routine and it was outdated and not particularly funny. Judge Rinder plays up his camp persona every week on strictly and I think that's part of why he's so popular. I'm sure he has the confidence and personality to overcome a few quips from a comedian.

Sentmeamonkey · 20/11/2016 08:36

I am glad I missed this bit of scd, I cannot stand PK,I can't watch him on TV. I hate how he waits for a laugh and people are to polite to tell him your NOT funny. He would be best staying at home watching back catalogue of Roy chubby brown or Bernard manning. Never to grace our TVs again.
YANBU.

FRETGNIKCUF · 20/11/2016 08:47

I think he would have done the joke whoever was behind him, straight, gay, lesbian, male or female. I think it was just a silly joke.
