Seriously man. What were you thinking?

Every time I hear you singing "Golden Brown" I feel pain.

YABU. Stop it.

Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Could also be the anthem for certain knuckle draggers that frequent this forum.

He seems to be everywhere these days, even turned up in The Sound of Music and Dangermouse. Doesn't surprise me that he's got an album out too...

When I saw the advert fo his album I thought it was an advert fo a comedy sketch show - like Mulligan & O'Hare but not as funny...

I have nothing to add, but I adore 'made my body hair crawl back into my follicles' as a phrase.

(I was going to say I judged him as a bit of a middle class tosser for the way he talked about the album on Saturday Kitchen, but then, I realise watching Saturday Kitchen probably says worse about me.)

Didn't he get a music scholarship to Caambridge?
He seems to me to be a good to slightly better than good baritone- but there are more knowledgable
musicians on here than me. Sounds as if his material is badly chosen perhaps?

Bradley Walsh is at it too: www.itv.com/goodmorningbritain/entertainment/exlusive-first-listen-to-bradley-walshs-new-song

I appreciate they're doing something they enjoy and making good money for it, but I just find it all a bit cringeworthy.

He chose the second album playlist. He told me this himself.

And I think he's a bit posher than middle class. But he's a Tory so I hate him.

His family business imports Bollinger. Maybe he drank all the profits?

I'm so glad no one on here calls him Xander because that's what his mum calls him. We don't fling know him!!

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing what he got was either a choral or an organ scholarship. Both of those are really impressive, but they're also basically how colleges get people who are very good to sing/play for their choirs. It's quite a narrow skill, not necessarily a skill that puts you on a level with someone who's a trained musician in other ways?

(NB: am drawing on what my snobby mate - who is a proper musician - says.)

Ade Edmonson.
Phil Jupitus
Hugh Laurie

I am sure there are more. They all clearly have a rock star fantasy (don't we all) and the money to indulge it. No one to tell them to stfu either.

Sorry guys. I would probably do the same if I had the resources Grin

I remember when I first saw one of his videos. I kept waiting for the gag. And then it dawned on me that gag was the that fact it wasn't all a big joke. He was being a serious singer.

Awful.

I find that style of singing just painful.

I like his voice Blush

I also think Hugh Laurie is a brilliant pianist...

A rock star fantasy I can understand. Harry Secombe style crooning, I find that fantasy harder to comprehend!

I bet Esther Walker (his SIL) takes the piss, internally at the very least.

Mondegreens · 17/11/2016 21:12

I'm not going to Google, I'm going to hold onto my gentle imaginary scenario where his only singing is a rather good light baritone take on 'What the Ladybird Heard'.

Bill Turnbull has the right idea. None of this degrading crooning nonsense. He just selects a few classical crowd pleasers and sticks his face and name on the album cover.

Much more dignified.
