I get like that when I am suffering with depression. When I am better I am doing the same stuff, but I can see the joy in it that I couldn't see before. I have a history of doing crazy stuff like leaving my job and moving to the other end of the country when I am depressed as a way to alleviate the boredom. I have learned that this doesn't work. The only way is to change the way I see the world by addressing the depression.

FluffyEwok · 15/11/2016 17:32

Jeepers i cant take ADs as they may affect a pregnancy its a catch22

I love nothing exciting happening.

I like to have my life not turned upside down. Boredom would be lovely.

Lovely, uneventful, beige.

ChocolateBudgeCake · 15/11/2016 17:39

I think probably everyone gets bored sometimes, it's quite a normal human feeling. I go through periods of being bored. Having hobbies and friends helps. Think about what interests you and maybe do it or learn about it or do a course around the subject.

SwedishEdith · 15/11/2016 17:43

I think it's normal. Life is long nowadays.

Stanky · 15/11/2016 17:53

I would love things to calm down. I don't find life exciting, but I can't keep up with it, and everything gets on top of me. I don't feel bored, but I do feel frustrated at my own lack of energy and time to get things done.

WhyIsThereHariboInMyWine · 15/11/2016 18:10

I'm with you, totally bored. I've looked into re-training and doing something that I really want to do but the reality is I will never be able to afford it so this is it. I have absolutely no good advice to give, maybe you need a steamy exciting romance.

Msqueen33 · 15/11/2016 18:11

I'm frequently bored. Sick of the dull routine of life.

Zoflorabore · 15/11/2016 18:17

See I find this concept strange, I've never ever been bored, always feel like there is something to be done but that could be due to my OCD ( cleaning related )
I go mad when my dc say they're bored as they have so much to do or play with and a garden that resembles a small park- 3 bed semi but massive garden so we're not rich or anything Grin
Possibly it's me though as I find it hard to switch off and have never found myself in the situation of being bored- if anything there aren't enough hours in the day.
My advice here would be to take a long hard look at your life and find out what's important to you and make more of that, drop the dead wood, make time for yourself and above all enjoy what you have, this is all something I've been doing lately, nearing 40 and discovering myself and it's actually liberating.

notagiraffe · 15/11/2016 18:21

You don't need ADs for boredom! The fertility drugs might be messing with your hormones and making you feel flat.
Why don't you do one new thing you've never done before every single day for a month or one thing that scares you a bit - pushes you outside of your usual life in some way, every day for a month and see whether you feel any different after that.
Or say 'Yes' to everything you're invited to do or try.

Zoflorabore · 15/11/2016 18:26

I may try that giraffe :)

FluffyEwok · 15/11/2016 18:28

Thanks for the suggestions all. Im married so a steamy romance is out Flowers though lol. Funds are low aswell as were saving for ivf. Maybe i do need to enjoy what i have

Me too.

DP and I used to keep a 'list of fun' for these reasons. When something pops into your head and you think, we really should do that, you write it on the list of fun. Next time you're bored, consult the list of fun and pick something to do from it. Distracts from the horrible tedium of it all for a moment.

We lost our list of fun.

Mrscog · 15/11/2016 21:08

Soory - I was on my phone - not moons to sign up to lol it should have said MOOCs!

But, Op what were your hobbies when you were a child? What did you love doing then? That might give you some clues as to what to pursue.

Suppermummy02 · 15/11/2016 21:17

Its just a personality type. I am one of them, just waiting in the coffin queue .

FluffyEwok · 15/11/2016 21:31

Supper im only 30 hopefully im not waiting in the coffin cue!

I have been feeling this exact way for a year or so. Thought I might be heading into an early mid-life crisis tbh. I have no hobbies, my job is boring as hell and I only do it to fit around the kids, just spend my life cleaning, cooking, supervising homework over and over and over.

I need to spice things up a bit. No idea how.

FluffyEwok · 15/11/2016 21:52

I used to be so hopeful aswell

OP posts:
elodie2000 · 15/11/2016 22:01

I feel like that! As a child I was so positive and loved doing everything & anything! I think I'm a bit depressed! Nothing appeals to me and places/ people bore me! I need to snap out of it...

Suppermummy02 · 15/11/2016 22:23

I didn't mean i was depressed or morbid. Life is just not a TV advert, you just get on with it and after several decades you die, it is boring.

ssd · 16/11/2016 17:57

titsywoo, you are my long lost twin, I'm living your life exactly
