To wish I hadn't poked my bloody tongue out

So to preempt any questions, yes I overthink, yes I have anxiety issues, yes I'm fixing it and yes I need to work on my social skills!

So... the former partner of a potential new friend was taking my phone number to arrange a play date and suddenly points phone at me to take photo. Taken by surprise and because I hate photos I immediately pulled a face and poked my tongue out at him. I was mortified am cringing now.

Fuck knows what I was thinking but it was not remotely flirty.

They still live together. She is going to be Hmm isn't she? Not that it will look like anything other than an embarrassing middle aged woman.

Am I over thinking or does this sound as cringey as it felt. Can I text him and ask him to delete it or will that seem weird?

Why did he need to take your photo?

I wouldn't be cringing over it. He should have asked if it was okay and given you the chance to say no.

whatsthebigdeal · 14/11/2016 16:27

Didn't want to read and run, you sound just like me, I over think every action and worry myself sick
I just try and think "most things you worry about never happen"
Then start worrying about something else, then panic because you can't remember what you were worrying about and it might be important
Sorry I'm not much help, but it might take your mind off it a bit!!

timelytess · 14/11/2016 16:28

I'm glad I'm not the only person who pokes my tongue out.
Some singer at a gig said something I didn't agree with and a stuck out my tongue - to myself, really, at what he'd said.
Two or three blokes nearby got all excited and asked each other "Did you see that?' in awed tones, and fussed about a bit.
So it's flirty is it? I hadn't realised. I can't say I'll never do it again, as I'd had no intention of doing it in the first place.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 14/11/2016 16:28

Sounds silly but fine. Not flirty and nothing worth fretting over. Just an automatic response from someone who hates having their photo taken. I get it.

BlurryFace · 14/11/2016 16:28

Surely they'll just think you were messing around and making the photo look dumb for a joke?

MommaGee · 14/11/2016 16:29

I wouldn't assume a photo of a woman with her tongue out meant someone was hitting on my husband. Why did he take it tho? That's what would perplex me more as the partner

Bluntness100 · 14/11/2016 16:30

Taking someone's photo and allocating it to a phone number is normal. It then flashes up when the phone rings, I know lots of people who do this.

Making a weird face, I would just let it go. Don't text him and ask it to be deleted that wojld be weird.

But you will have to live with the knowledge of knowing if uou ever call him that's the photo that will flash up,,☺️

Meadows76 · 14/11/2016 16:32

*among

VioletRoar · 14/11/2016 16:33

I'd be. Or tidied I'd someone took my photo unannounced, I'd also probably stick my tongue out or do something much more horrendous. Hoping the photo for a contact thing doesn't catch on where I live 😂

museumum · 14/11/2016 16:33

I wouldn't think anything of it, in fact it's specifically not flirty and far more 'friends'. If you'd done a duck pout then i'd really be cringing :P

Bluntness100 · 14/11/2016 16:35

LeopardPrintSocks1 · 14/11/2016 16:35

Shouldn't he have asked first?

Meadows76 · 14/11/2016 16:40

Really? I genuinely don't see it that way, she was arranging the play date with him, that's why he was taking the number and some people are terrible with names, so use the picture instead. yes really.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 14/11/2016 16:42

Don't worry, it'll just look as if you were being silly and have a sense of humour.
It's not as if you'll be phoning each other daily so that picture will barely see the light of day.

If I'm caught unawares in a photo I usually have one eye shut, my mouth open and an overall quite deranged look. It could be worse Grin.

Stormtreader · 14/11/2016 16:50

Look on the upside, you could have mooned him! Grin

AgathaF · 14/11/2016 16:55

I really don't like it when people you barely know take photos without asking.

corlan · 14/11/2016 17:11

Don't worry about it.

I think if anyone behaved inappropriately, it was the guy taking your photo without asking. That's just rude!

ohsuchanidiot · 14/11/2016 17:11

Sorry was feeding DC.

Maybe I feel extra awkward because I'm knew to area, newly separated and so are they. I haven't given a second thought to whether someone is a man or someone's husband in the playground before - or anywhere for many years!

I found it odd to just take a photo for contacts. Glad it's not just me.

Ok, I won't ask him to delete it.

And yes, my social skills aren't quite as poor as mooning yet! Grin

You're lucky you only poked your tongue out; if anyone had taken a photo of me without asking I'd probably not have behaved very well at all.
I think that doing that - the photo taking I mean - is rude and impertinent.

YvaineStormhold · 14/11/2016 17:22

I'd have probably flipped my middle finger. Be grateful you're not me.

Floggingmolly · 14/11/2016 17:24

How in earth did people manage their address books before the ubiquitous smartphone's arrival? Hmm. I wouldn't dream of taking an acquaintance's photo to help me remember their name!!! Weird and rude.

originalmavis · 14/11/2016 17:26

Least it was just your tongue you whapped out. Could've been a lot worse...

YvaineStormhold · 14/11/2016 17:29

He was totally flirting with you, btw.
