to use James on a girl?

Am overdue. Baby has not arrived. Do not know gender. Have finally after much indecision, decided a girl will be Iris James. Mentioned to DB who got very upset and kept on saying it's not a girls name. Mother has rang me this morning and said he was so upset because he wants to name a son of his James. Keep in mind he is not married or having a child. I do think they are TTC. But I want to use Iris James!!!!! She said that I shouldn't and should save it for him because it will be his first child and a son. So what, the two beautiful little girls I've delivered into our family are nothing. A boy will probably be Gage Theodore.

My older DDs are Hattie Juniper and Cleo Annika so we use quite different names.

Please don't take any notice of people it's your child and you have the right to name your baby what you want. My wife and i had the same problem when we were naming OUR children. We have Jayton Edward, sharlanisha Jarde and Romany judhe. Don't let anyone have a say it's your child

I think it's a beautiful name. I think you should ignore all the nothing better to do keyboard warriors on here. People apparently don't follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" method any more. I know girls called (genuinely) bob, George and Chris which are all considered "boys names" quite frankly, if you want to name your son, Wendy Glenda Gertrude rose, or daughter, John Jacob dillan ross than blooming do it! You're the one who's carrying this child in your ever stretching womb, getting itchy nipples and can possibly never sneeze without peeing yourself again! I think it's your God given right to name YOUR child whatever you freaking like! Do you crack on my love and I hope the rest of your pregnancy and labour etc is amazing and as great as can be considering

I have a beautiful 30 year old daughter JENNA HOWARD! Her middle name attributed to my wonderful grandfather,who sadly died before she was born.I do not understand all the forore surrounding this topic? I think IRIS JAMES is lovely.Some people need to get a life!
