Ok, sorry in advance for posting yet another election thread in AIBU so please hide post if necessary Blush but, after everything thats happened is anyone else really surprised that she didnt at least thank her supporters at the rally? There's been nothing from her at all! Confused

Its just bizarre.

"YonicProbe

Haven't you heard the phrase before?

'Wow, Tony Blair has a big nose'
'That was uncalled for'"

Yes I have heard the expression before. However, when you use it it oozes preciousness. That annoys, frankly.

Somerville · 09/11/2016 13:41

Or HTH can also mean happy to help, Alexa. Generally then be interpreted as somewhat sarcastic, in answer to a less-than-intelligent question.

HTH!

Lilaclily · 09/11/2016 13:41

They said she'd speak tomorrow last night

So what is wrong with her speaking at 9.30am instead of the middle of the night ?

Jeez

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/11/2016 13:43

It is unusual that isn't done on the night.

LaContessaDiPlump · 09/11/2016 13:43

I wonder if the combination of stress/illness/adrenaline/disappointment finally knocked her over; sadly, if a woman comes out to speak to supporters and is overtly upset then she runs the risk of fulfilling every gender stereotype going, whilst if a man was obviously devastated at losing the presidency to an idiot then that would be fair do's Hmm. Hillary may have chosen not to take the risk of looking 'too' emotional in public, hence the delay.

Poor woman, it must be really gutting.

AlexaTwoAtT · 09/11/2016 13:44

Well said, piglet. I agree. Trump would have done the right thing whatever one might think of him - in many other respects.

HappyCamel · 09/11/2016 13:45

Because her supporters travelled and stayed up all night and she didn't even have the grace to say thank you. She just went to bed, they would have had a long journey home in the early hours. IMO it's rude.

SerenaJoy · 09/11/2016 13:45

She is expected to make a speech at 2.30 GMT, according to the guardian.

Lorelei76 · 09/11/2016 13:45

haven't seen all replies
Hillary due on TV in next hour or so

Cameron busy writing his memoirs - he got an advance of 7 figures but I forget which publisher.

Wookiecookies · 09/11/2016 13:46

Thats kind of where am with it happy, it just seems very ungracious and I really expected more from her.

Yes, I got that too. Only surprised I didn't get the tinkly head tilt to add insult to injury..
Ha

Lorelei76 · 09/11/2016 13:46

oh it's William Collins, an imprint of Harper Collins. I heard 7 figure advance but a quick google says more like £800k.

Tarla · 09/11/2016 13:47

He does have an (unpaid) job, I gather. . David that is

I suppose it was Workfare or be sanctioned Wink

Hilary was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. Gave a speech there and then? Throwing in the towel without a fight. Having a rest and taking stock before giving her speech? She's a sore loser.

With the strength of feeling from the general public towards the result, I think her waiting to give her speech has been the best thing. She's giving people a chance to get over the initial shock rather than stirring the pot with an immediate speech.

Wookiecookies · 09/11/2016 13:48

Thats a lot of cream teas then Lorelei76 Grin

If you keep asking for words or phrases to be explained that you blatantly already know the answer to then I don't think you should be surprised to be met with sarcasm, Alexa.

JanetStWalker · 09/11/2016 13:51

Extremely comfy beds in The Peninsula, she'll be making the most of it if she's any sense.

Erm... I was far too busy to look it up although I know there is an enormous list of abbreviations here somewhere. Hmm
Surprised it is not HTHD

JanetStWalker · 09/11/2016 13:54

I didn't...I'd call her an evil, lying, war monger but that's probably uncalled for Wink

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/11/2016 13:54

Tarla the thing is that Trump would have been viewed extremely harshly if he had lost and done that. That's the difference I think and has been commented on, on the news

SpringSpringSpring · 09/11/2016 13:55

ungracious seems a very strange way of describing her non-response. What terms did you use to describe Trump's misogyny?

honeyroar · 09/11/2016 13:55

I expect she's truly crushed and devastated. Being beaten by a complete idiot in front of the whole world must be the ultimate humiliation. I very much doubt she's had a wink of sleep.

The80sweregreat · 09/11/2016 13:55

Poor form not to appear and say thank you, sorry etc.
i know she must be feeling awful, but still.
She should make a statement at least!
( cant remember what happened in other elections though)

shinynewusername · 09/11/2016 13:57

Trump would have done the right thing whatever one might think of him

Are you on glue? He said he wouldn't accept the decision if he lost.

LunaLoveg00d · 09/11/2016 13:57

She's on the phone to Justin Trudeau saying how much she's always admired Canada and is there space for her in Ottawa?

The80sweregreat · 09/11/2016 13:57

Just heard that 2,.30 UK time she will be making a speech. BBC news
