From reading MN this morning I fully expected on leaving the house to see people rushing around in a state of hysteria. To see sobbing, devastated people unable to look their daughters in the eye on the school run.

Nope.

Have a grip

You can't deny that there are people who get caught up in political drama and then lose interest a week later.

So fucking what? This is huge news. It happened today. We are going to talk about it a lot today. Perhaps slightly less in a week, sure, probably a lot more in January. If the boards are less full in a week, it doesn't mean everyone has 'lost interest' though.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 16:48

Yeah, I asked posters if they 'liked dead babies'. As you were.

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/11/2016 16:58

People getting told off for caring about a world event.

Seriously. 🙄

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 17:22

Of course I care, dowager - I care that it came down to two equally flawed individuals to fight it out in the presidential race. However, threads such as 'Children coming out of school panicking' do highlight the OP's point about mass hysteria . Yes, feel upset, shocked, depressed but posters on other threads are claiming 'we're all doomed' and that nuclear strikes are imminent. How is that a remotely healthy or reasonable response?

Lewwat · 09/11/2016 17:25

jess literally just came back here to highlight that thread.

How reasonable do your reactions seem now? When 6 year old are now talking about nuclear war Hmm

OP posts:
Lorelei76 · 09/11/2016 17:25

OP you made me laugh

you know what, there's posters who are talking about when to put a tree up, flapping about Xmas colour schemes, what kind of stocking to give Tabitha at Xmas, going "ooh does he like me" or "ooh what can I do to make him LIKE me" or "ooh I never bothered to make any money and now I have to stay with him though he doesn't like me" etc etc...and you want to hand a grip to people who are worried about about a major event?

sure. go ahead. It'll be like all those leaflets they hand out at the tube and then they get dropped on the floor.

Lorelei76 · 09/11/2016 17:27

cross post
hadn't seen kids were panicking about nuclear war
someone tell them it's more important to worry about reproductive rights please Grin

Lewwat · 09/11/2016 17:30

lorelei I'm not saying people can't be worried, I am myself! But I think people are being a tad over the top! Especially the one referring to wearing black to mourn Hillary losing?! Ludicrous

PavlovianLunge · 09/11/2016 17:38

Well, OP, you seem to have wanted a bunfight, well done.

This thread started badly and has only got worse, so I've reported it, but either way, I'm out.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 17:41

You've reported a thread about people generating mass hysteria over a political outcome? Kind of proved the OP's point there, I'm afraid.

Lorelei76 · 09/11/2016 17:41

OP hadn't heard that either.

anyway, you wanted attention, you got it. Enjoy. I'll carry on chatting on other boards, your grips are pretty well trodden on methinks.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 17:48

lew. Someone on the other thread mentioned grips - should we warn her or gently tiptoe away?

Lewwat · 09/11/2016 17:51

Maybe if I wrapped my grips in tinsel people would be more accepting Grin

OP posts:
BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 09/11/2016 17:52

Kind of proved the OP's point there, I'm afraid.

No one cares about the OP and her point. That's the point of people's responses. Why would they give a fiddler's what she thinks?

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 17:53

You could sell them on FB? Twenty five quid for a Trump Grip?

MitzyLefrouf · 09/11/2016 17:53

Blah.

Tossers on MN thinking they're oh so witty handing out their grips.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 09/11/2016 17:57

Deep breath.

Posters on MN are saying their children are 'panicking" about an imminent nuclear attack. Largely because of the way adults are allowing their reactions to this election to filter through to, and consequently affect, their small children. Hence getting a grip, discussing the situation with like-minded (or not) adults instead of being alarmist and terrifying the shit out of their kids unnecessarily.

The end of the world is not yet nigh.

HmmmmBop · 09/11/2016 17:57

mitzy

yup

Fmlbiscuits · 09/11/2016 17:58

YANBU.

I hate Trump, I think it is awful that he has won, and I'm sad for the people in America right now who are feeling threatened and unwelcome in their own country

But the hysteria is just silly. People on my FB posting that the tears are streaming down their face, they now know the true meaning of fear, it's WW3 etc etc.

People have been saying WW3 is going to start from about five minutes after ww2 ended. I don't think we'll be eating radioactive cheerios for breakfast just yet.

MitzyLefrouf · 09/11/2016 17:58

You keep taking your deep breaths chum.

MitzyLefrouf · 09/11/2016 17:59

There's always some bore trying to police the way people react to things.

Lewwat · 09/11/2016 18:01

Personally I think alot of people on this thread need to take a deep breath.... And you no..... Calm the fuck down Hmm

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 09/11/2016 18:01

It's too early for tinsel!

I have a theory....

Getting told election results/big shocks first thing in the morning does make it feel a little bit like the end of the world, especially if you've been up all night watching so have worked yourself into a tiredness induced state of mass hysteria. They should put an embargo on results until 11.30. Am so we have all had a cup of coffee and our elevenses and are feeling more at peace with the world in general.

Seriously, I felt like crying when it was official. I'm not particulalry scared of what trump will do, more a reflection of people's viewpoint I was sad about.

MitzyLefrouf · 09/11/2016 18:02

Oh you're getting upset. Do you not think your reaction is out slightly over the top? Do perhaps..............need one of your grips?

SilentBiscuits · 09/11/2016 18:03

The most hysterical reaction on this thread referenced dead babies. Maybe they should be first in line for a grip, I mean - seriously.
