Where do you keep your eggs?

Posted here for traffic.

Where do you keep your eggs? In stores they're kept on shelves, in a place I work (food related) they're kept in the fridge. Most people I meet feel one way or the other is the only safe place to put them.

What do you do?

They should not be refrigerated, so uou need to keep them in a cupboard or someplace else.

Not in the fridge!

We have one of these www.amazon.co.uk/Apollo-Vinci-Porcelain-Egg-Holder/dp/B004V41U4Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478444485&sr=8-3&keywords=egg+holder where the eggs are kept - and it sits on the 'side' in the kitchen.

marvelousdcomics · 06/11/2016 15:03

In the cupboard

legotits · 06/11/2016 15:05

We had that chicken Usual the brown one.

Ours ended up with Allen keys in it. Eggs stay I their box on the shelf.
I can always find an Allen key though.

In the cupboard. I do a lot of baking and need them to be at room temperature.

treaclesoda · 06/11/2016 15:06

In my larder. Fridge is too cold.

NattyTile · 06/11/2016 15:06

Assuming UK, in a cupboard somewhere.

If you're in the USA, then the eggs will have been washed, so need to be fridged.

HicDraconis · 06/11/2016 15:08

In the pantry. It's got a stone bench top which absorbs heat so it's cooler than a standard kitchen cupboard.

Although I also have around 35 eggs being kept at 38degrees and 80% humidity which should hatch soon! Those are in an incubator in the garage :)

beelover · 06/11/2016 15:09

Never in the fridge. I have an egg helter skelter which sits on the kitchen worktop.

ExcellentWorkThereMary · 06/11/2016 15:09

I have an egg cupboard.

Bruce02 · 06/11/2016 15:10

We have an egg cupboard. Never have kept eggs in the fridge.

BadKnee · 06/11/2016 15:10

In their box on the worktop. We get through them pretty quickly.

CaptainHammer · 06/11/2016 15:11

Cupboard, never the fridge

ImprovingMyMH · 06/11/2016 15:15

Oh, I keep mine in the fridge. Are you not supposed to then?

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 06/11/2016 15:16

In the shop. They're fucking rank.

pinkieandperkie · 06/11/2016 15:19

In my ovaries - or at least I used to keep them there, but it appears now that I have run out of them.

I don't plan on restocking supplies in the near future either.

RumbleMum · 06/11/2016 15:22

In a cool room. Unless you're in the US where eggs are washed (removing the outer protective membrane that keeps bacteria out) they don't need to be refrigerated.

Saying that, before we got our own chickens I used to keep them in the fridge as they'd often go way past their sell by date before we used them and I wouldn't have been confident eating them if they hadn't been in the fridge - not sure if that's reasonable now. We now eat a LOT more eggs. Smile

damnyoufoulwoman · 06/11/2016 15:23

Fridge, always have

PeppaAteMySoul · 06/11/2016 15:26

In the box on top of the fridge.

TheWernethWife · 06/11/2016 15:29

In a chicken shaped mesh basket on the kitchen counter.

They won't go off for at least a couple of weeks, arf.

I have read this a few times and it still makes me smile in wonder!

In their box on top of the microwave (simply to keep them out of the way). They don't cook the same when they've been in the fridge.
