Indigestion or Heart attack?

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2016 23:14

...getting out of bed to source pain relief.

Got the most horrendous chest pain. Most likely indigestion I'm guessing Confused but no eaten anything dodgy, well not eaten anything in past 3 hours or so. Really can't be bothered getting up to try and find paracetamol and it's too painful to move anyway. It's not subsiding as I write this either. What can I do to test my theory? Cup of milk? Or is that for acid reflux not indigestion. No idea but it hurts like hell right in the centre of my chest. Otherwise healthy, young (ish), no real reason to think it's anything sinister. Shall I try to jump around? See if that shifts anything? Kill me or cure me?

Diana only when I think about it! It's just middle chest with a sicky feeling in my throat

"If you need medical attention seek that rather than just being an attention seeker"

^Uncalled for rudeness. Op had said she hasn't had indigestion before, and I don't blame her for not wanting to go to straight to out of hours or A+E, only to do a dirty big burp or fart when the Dr pokes at her and have the pain subside. You'd be Blush

PlymouthMaid1 · 04/11/2016 23:34

If it is trapped wind then some yoga moves can help but prob no good for a heart attack.

perfumedlife · 04/11/2016 23:42

I read that women often experience heart attacks as severe back pain rather than chest pain and my three friends who had gall bladder attacks has serious chest pain that doctors initially thought was heart related.

Either way, get to the hospital you numpty. Wishing you well

WrongTrouser · 04/11/2016 23:42

OP you should ring 111. Heart attack symptoms can be very similar to indigestion.. Best to get medical attention asap.

Shallishanti · 04/11/2016 23:45

well, this was me 10 years ago
it was a heart attack
get it checked out

DeathpunchDoris · 04/11/2016 23:45

You "truly believed you were having a heart attack" but logged on to MN ? If it is that bad get to a hospital!

Fairenuff · 04/11/2016 23:45

I'd rather died than go to A&E with a suspected heart attack and need a burp instead

Really? You'd actually rather die?

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2016 23:46

Message disappeared...
Pain seems to be subsiding (touch wood) it's not as intense. Maybe this left side thing is working.

Being alone with two kids in bed it's just easier to wait it out and hope for the best.

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2016 23:47

Fair yes I'm pretty bad at going to doctors 😳

OP posts:
Fairenuff · 04/11/2016 23:49

But what about your children? You'd rather die and leave them?

Queenbean · 04/11/2016 23:49

It's not uncalled for rudeness. If it's truly a heart attack then medical attention is needed urgently

As someone who was recently taken to hospital in an ambulance thanks to this kind of suspect chest pain I think the thread title and the "I'd rather die of a heart attack than need a burp instead" stuff is in pretty poor taste

FleurThomas · 04/11/2016 23:51

The sickly feeling could be either tbh. Left sided heart related pain can come and go so don't put stock in it subsiding. You still could be having a minor heart attack. Call NHS Direct or go into A&E ffs!!

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2016 23:54

Gezz a few months ago I started a thread about my DS who was moaning he'd broken his finger. MN nagged me in to taking him to A&E despite me saying it was fine. Hours of my life I'd never get back, not to mention the radiation!
So sorry if I don't do as I'm told on this one.

Managed to sit up but feel really uncomfortable so I think I'll lie back down and try to sleep it off if it lets me get to sleep.

AtSea1979 · 04/11/2016 23:56

Of course there's been plenty of times when I've followed MN advice and it's been right, like when I LTB. Over the years probably more right than wrong.

Pain is going so hopefully something and nothing and won't come back again.

Electrolens · 04/11/2016 23:57

This is an offensive thread title. Those closest to me have died of heat attacks. If you really think there's a chance it may be one obviously go to A&E immediately.

If you don't, change to chest pain.

WickedLazy · 04/11/2016 23:58

You were rude imo Queen Bean.
"As someone who was recently taken to hospital in an ambulance thanks to this kind of suspect chest pain I think the thread title and the "I'd rather die of a heart attack than need a burp instead" stuff is in pretty poor taste."

Hmm
Fairenuff · 05/11/2016 00:00

I think the 'I'd rather die of a heart attack than need a burp instead' makes OP look foolish.

Even though, when questioned, OP stuck to it Hmm

AtSea1979 · 05/11/2016 00:03

I didn't say I wasn't foolish.

OP posts:
Queenbean · 05/11/2016 00:05

Not sure why you're quoting me and Hmm Wicked. That happened to me, that's how I feel about it.

Sallystyle · 05/11/2016 00:05

I am up now with horrid reflux.

I had a few months free and now it is back. I know what it is but I have health anxiety and still worry that I might be having a heart attack, although I know logically it isn't because I'm burping up acid with it.

Your title does suck but I hope you feel better soon.

Fairenuff · 05/11/2016 00:08

You may be foolish OP but I also suspect that you are not being truthful. Who would rather die and leave their children without a mother than go for a check up?

Can you honestly say that was a true statement?

AtSea1979 · 05/11/2016 00:08

Remembered I was wearing a Fitbit with heart rate, had a look at the graph, no changes since I got in bed so I think it's safe to assume it was indigestion or gall stones or something.

electro a lot of my family have died from heart attacks too. I didn't realise it was offensive. Just thought when you get chest pains the first thing people think is could this be a heart attack. Most people at some point or other probably get chest pains and think that. I know my dad did recently and was admitted and it was some sort of ulcer or something. Wasn't meant to be offensive, just what I was thinking at the time.

OP posts:
AtSea1979 · 05/11/2016 00:09

fair I can honestly say I'm still in bed and haven't sought medical attention so the conclusion is there.

OP posts:
Fairenuff · 05/11/2016 00:10

Well if you'd rather die then so be it Sad
