Dog poo - rage

rosegold33 · 03/11/2016 19:55

New mum and have had to clean my pram wheels on average once a week - twice this week.

I purposely try to avoid but can't keep staring at the ground.

Why are some people lazy buggers!

You know what, this problem is at its worst in the winter because of the dark. Lazy dog owners know they can't be seen and get away with it.

This summer, I was at the local park with my dog and saw a lady with 2 big dogs. Her dog did a poo and this is how the conversation with her went:
Me: Excuse me, your dog just did a poo. Over there (i point)
Her: So?
Me: Please pick up after your dog! It is unhygenic not to!!
Her: Why? Is this park owned by your family? Fuck off.

She was charming, wasn't she? I ended up picking it up and she was laughing away.

Anti-social people + dogs = dog crap not picked up

They go out when it's dark, so the dog poos on the street and not in their garden, with the express purpose of leaving it where it is because they simply do not give a shit (scuse the pun). They don't want to clear it up. They don't care if your child falls in it. They also probably don't de-worm either. Their dog will poo every night, sometimes twice a day, so they can offload 14 poos a week in one area. So it is usually a very small minority who do it (as ever) but because the dog poos a lot it can seem as though lots of people do it.

Solution? Spray it with spray paint when you see it so others can see it. Then call the council to come and pick it up. Chances are they may know who the anti-social person is in your area as they probably have all sorts of other issues with them.

I'd love a dog but the idea of picking up makes me feel ill.

So we haven't got a dog.

And that's that. I agree testing, massive fines. Like MASSIVE. Like at least £1k

I'm a dog owner and always pick up. People who don't are lazy, scummy f*kers. Why they think it's okay to leave mess for others to tread in? And say on country paths etc, why just leave it there? It's not going to magically dissolve into the countryside is it? I don't want to tread in it and I don't want my dog to either. And the ultra lazy f*kers who pick up and leave the bag on the ground to get squashed or kicked about. It beggars belief.

littlemissneela · 04/11/2016 08:02

It drives me mad too! I am a dog owner and always clean up after her. I hate it when people are lazy and don't. Its part and parcel of being a dog owner.
Yesterday I walked my dog on the park, kicking through the crispy fallen leaves and then went into town with my dh. It wasnt until we'd parked and he was getting a ticket did I realise that I must have stepped on some whilst leaf kicking Sad
My ED uses a wheelchair, and she has run through some too. Especially not nice when your hands are near the wheels Angry

NoahVale · 04/11/2016 08:05

i clean up after my dog, i do judge.
i also look twice and people on mobility scooters who have dogs and wonder, do they pick up.?
all very nice for them to go out and about but what about the dog mess?

Youremywifenow · 04/11/2016 09:38

I hate that dogs are allowed in parks with kid's playgrounds. Our local one doesn't have the equipment fenced off. Last time I was there, a dog shit in the sandpit and another one pissed all over the digger thing.
The bins are by the entrance so every time I walk in. My stomach turns over at the stench. It's horrific in summer.

I would bring in a dog shit tax.
The total amount it costs to clear up shit + empty the shit bins divided by the no. of portions of dog food sold and added to the cost of dog food.

For people who let their dogs crap without clearing it up, I'd put them on a week's full time dog shit picking up duty in every park with a fine to cover the cost of administering it. They can wear high vis jackets with a turd on the back.

Sparlklesilverglitter · 04/11/2016 09:44

It is a very annoying thing.

If you can't be bothered to pick up after your dog, then you shouldn't of got the pet in the first place. It's part of being a responsible owner!

Luckily Here the parks are pretty clean now. The park had a warden that can issue fines to anyone walking away leaving poo which has helped greatly.

clare2307 · 04/11/2016 09:50

We don't own a dog, mainly because we are out the house too long on work days, don't want the extra cost & responsibility but also because we both hate picking poo up! We occasionally have my Mum's dog when she is away and no matter how much we hate it, we still pick up after him!

I hate seeing dogs wandering about 20 feet behind their owners, who are paying no attention to them so have no idea if they have poo'd so hence don't pick it up. I've often pointed it out to these people when I've seen their dogs poo and they generally go back & pick it up. It's digusting to leave it on pavements!!

MrsBethel · 04/11/2016 09:55

My idea to end the dog poo menace is:

  • Much heavier fines. plus
  • Any anonymous member of the public who can provide evidence of an offence (eg on a phone camera), gets to keep, I dunno, say 90% of the fine.

YADNBU - I had to clean dog poo off my pram wheels the other day and was spitting tacks. It's beyond disgusting. I've also had my older child get their hands covered in dog poo while playing on the grass in a local park - I fucking LOATHE dog owners who think they don't need to bother picking up their dog's faeces just because they are in a park or tall grass rather than walking along the pavement. Ignorant, inconsiderate cretins. Angry

glueandstick · 04/11/2016 19:53

Once, someone let their dog piss against my pram whilst I was talking to them. 'Oh but he's only a puppy'
