Dog poo - rage

rosegold33 · 03/11/2016 19:55

New mum and have had to clean my pram wheels on average once a week - twice this week.

I purposely try to avoid but can't keep staring at the ground.

Why are some people lazy buggers!

As a dog owner who always picks up, and the mother of a 17 year old wheelchair user, I sympathise. My daughter sometimes likes to self propel or just feel the wheels moving under her hands. The horror and rage of finding. a wheel has picked up dog shit far from home or an outdoor tap, - is indescribable.

It's disgusting, lady and selfish. I dream of compulsory dog licensing that funds a DNA database so councils can sample dog shit and fine the fuck out the owners.

pensivepolly · 03/11/2016 21:22

I'm a dog owner (I scrupulously clean up after my dogs - otherwise, you know, yuck) and I am always astonished at how much poo there is on the streets (I live in London). It gives all dog owners a bad name. I also wonder when all the stealth pooing and non-cleaning-up happens, as I never seem to catch anyone in the act!

BaggyCheeks · 03/11/2016 21:24

If I never had to shriek at DS to "Watch out for the poo!" again, I'd be thrilled.

Have a graph, which I feel illustrates a mysterious phenomenon that occurs near me.

Dog poo - rage
Shurelyshomemistake · 03/11/2016 21:25

In our last house our very rich neighbours' dog shat right in the middle of our driveway.

When I asked her to clear it up she looked at me like I was actually mad and said "I'll send my housekeeper out to get it later". Lucky staff!

DontTouchTheMoustache · 03/11/2016 21:26

rumtopf where do you get bright pink doggie bags from??? I would love those for my dog walks!

YellowLambBanana · 03/11/2016 21:31

I'm a dog owner and have never ever left one of their poos on a pavement. However have stood in other dogs poos by mistake and it is infuriating and disgusting. This behaviour is horrendous and really gives me the rage - it's so inconsiderate. It always seems to be worse this time of year and the only reason I can think of (which is no excuse) is that many dogs are now walked in the dark and either the owners don't see it, or they turn a blind eye thinking no one will see them.

Many a time I've stood with a torch rifling through leaves with a poo bag - it takes seconds and is no hardship. Dog owners who don't pick up should be ashamed of themselves

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 03/11/2016 21:48

I'm a dog owner and always pick up. I have a mini rucksack with equipment that I grab on my way out of the door, can clean up runny ones too. Multiple bags, kitchen roll, bottle of water. Hand wash gel.

My dd's bf doesn't pick up. He's a scrote. It shows in other ways too so I have a picture of the type of dog owners who don't pick up and it isn't good--dicks!

slightlypeevedwombat · 03/11/2016 21:51

i dont have a dog, because i dont want to pick up poo!

i dont want to step in your dogs poo either!! (to those who have dogs who poo and dont clean it up)

(nappy bags work as dog poo bags)

ThatGingerOne · 03/11/2016 21:55

DontTouch I have them too but they're not actual dog poo bags, just cheap nappy sacks from the Asda. Cost less, smell good and do the job just as well!

Jabuticaba · 03/11/2016 22:00

I hate it. One of the reasons I emigrated. Now I live in the developing world where stray dogs roam the streets. Not a steamy pile to be seen, I have never, ever stepped in a dog shit let alone seen a single one on any pavement in my whole town. Dogs are clean, they choose out of the way places where they and others do not walk/eat/live, so it`s their owners that are fucking minging bastards, forcing the poor creatures to go all over the place.

rosegold33 · 03/11/2016 22:29

Does every local authority operate a system where they fine?

OP posts:
ImSoVeryTired · 03/11/2016 22:37

I feel your wrath and sympathise. I have a similar problem where I live. I have seen one of the culprits, with her bloody antisocial spaniels, leave it on our road frequently. It's horrid and there is no excuse.

JaniceBattersby · 03/11/2016 22:38

Yes rose but you have to catch them in the act. Either that, or a couple of authorities are now DNA testing.

LyndaNotLinda · 03/11/2016 22:41

I hate it so much I pick up other dogs' shit as well as my own dog's. It's grim

user1477282676 · 03/11/2016 22:41

It's horrible. Where I live (Australia) the council have put up tonnes of these dispensers with free doggy poo bags but people STILL let their dogs shit on the floor and leave it.

I have a dog...picking up his mess isn't nice but I'd NEVER leave it there! I always feel bad if there's a bit of a mark on the floor left from it...and have seriously thought about carrying a little bottle of disinfectant to clean it up!

I try not to let him go on the paths but now and then he simply can't help it....that's when I want to clean it!

JellyBelli · 03/11/2016 22:47

Not picking it up from the pavement can incur on on the spot fine from £50, and refusing to pay that will get them a fine of £1000

You can report fouling to your local council;
www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/dog-fouling

I always bag it and bin it. I think stick and flick, hanging the bag from a tree or walking away is disgusting and self entitled.

Davros · 03/11/2016 23:00

Agreed, my beef is people who put the dog poo in a bag and then leave the bag on the pavement like they've done their job!!

StarryIllusion · 04/11/2016 00:11

This does my fucking head in. If I can pick it up with a toddler, a 1 year old in a buggy, two dogs and excruciating spinal problems so can the majority of other owners.

HistoriaTrixie · 04/11/2016 03:06

I am SO with you. And honestly, even if (vanishingly rare, but I've had it happen myself) the little poo-bag-holder on your leash is unexpectedly empty, it's still possible to curb the dog and have it do its poo at the edge of the road...and then COME BACK WITH A BAG because even if no one will step in it it's still gross as hell.

I have terrible knees (cartilage damage) and if I get far enough down to reach a dog poo I have serious trouble getting up so before I take Freddy-the-giant-hound for his walk I take him in the back garden until he does his poo. That almost always works; a couple of times it hasn't and I've had to text one of the DCs to run to where I am with a poo bag and retrieve the mess while I wait there so people don't think I'm a filthy poo-abandoner.

Dog poo is disgusting and grim and...BLEAGH and so are people who just leave it lay where Fido flang it. Envy

MissVictoria · 04/11/2016 03:30

Having to pick up poo is one of the major reasons i don't have a dog. I have severe germ related OCD, i wear latex glove to wipe my own bum ffs, and still wash with disinfectant. How anyone can physically make themselves pick up a crap with nothing but a thin layer of plastic between it and your skin, makes mine crawl. To then carry it around with you, and touch other stuff you own before completely disinfecting yourself, makes me feel ill. I permanently stare at the ground when walking because if i stood in poo, the shoes would have to be thrown out and not come anywhere near going in my house! It's tiring having to poo dodge constantly and plys havoc with neck pain from the bad posture.

Hidingtonothing · 04/11/2016 03:41

My dog walking route takes me past a school and the amount of dog poo within feet of the school gates never fails to appall me. It's bad enough not cleaning up anywhere but outside a school?!!! My dog is weird and only likes to poo in his own garden but I always take bags in case he gets caught short, can't imagine walking away and leaving it for someone to tread in.

Bonywasawarriorwayayix · 04/11/2016 07:10

Agree. If I ever catch the lazy, antisocial arse who thinks leaving poo on our front garden or in our bins is appropriate, I shall come over all sweary.

rose did you hear that a council have paid for a night vision cam so they can watch dog walkers who don't pick up? IIRC it's slashed the amount of dog poo left in parks because the night time walkers know the might be spotted.

When I remember I email the council and my local councillor to have a moan about dog poo and it gets cleared up. I could do with an app on my phone that does it automatically tbh Hmm .

JeanGenie23 · 04/11/2016 07:21

Arrrgggg this is the most annoying thing ever!
We have a great local park that is mostly clean but for some bizarre reason the grassy area right next to the entrance to the playground is always filthy. My dd and I often have to try scrape our shoes clean it's maddening!!
