To think mumsnet should be opening supporting Hillary

There is a real chance that trump could get in now. Hillary clearly has fab policy's for paid maternity leave, equal pay, and a rock solid record in fighting for women's equality. See the site shewinswewin.org/record-of-achievement/

Has MN publicly endorsed her? With millions of users across the world many will be in the US.

Yabvu and I personally think you should be sectioned for not only writing but believing such codswallop

BarInSpace · 01/11/2016 00:57

As soon as either side of any issue is officially "endorsed" by a website, they'll lose part of their membership and discussions will become more one-sided.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/11/2016 00:57

"She's pretty stupid to have stayed with him and expected to keep her job IMO.

BeALert, I interpreted your statement to mean that you felt she should not be able to keep her job because she stayed with her husband. I apologize if I misinterpreted your statement.

OlennasWimple · 01/11/2016 01:05

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on MN recently - and there have been some humdingers on here in the last few days...

yeOldeTrout · 01/11/2016 06:03

US involvement is not about being saviour. It's naive to think so.

Or maybe you've been conned by the military industrial complex into thinking that we have to get involved in these wars in order to protect our "strategic" interests.

SpunkyMummy · 01/11/2016 07:18

I find the thought of either of them as president pretty scary! I feel sorry for anyone having to make a decision between them.

Yes, I do agree with that. It's not that I like Trump, I actually really dislike it. But I do not like Hillary either.

SpunkyMummy · 01/11/2016 07:19

*dislike him.

Trump is obviously a human being and not an "it"

Roussette · 01/11/2016 07:30

Well... if MN endorsed any candidate whether it was in the UK or the US, to be honest I would leave and I've been here 10 years plus. It wouldn't be the place for me. Just because we live in a "global world" doesn't mean that a UK forum should take a particular political stance. I agree, it is probably the most daft thing I've read on here for a while (oh hang on... there was something yesterday too Grin)

onemorecup got to the Politics threads. There is endless discussion about the US election over there and it's been going on for months.

Lweji · 01/11/2016 07:38

Or maybe you didn't read my post and what it was in relation to.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 01/11/2016 07:42

Yes, I heard on Fox News this morning that thousands of voters are still undecided as they don't know what Mumsnet's official stance is.

It could be true, though. Why else would Farage be doing the rounds in the US. What does Brexit have to do with Trump? (don't answer)
Maybe Hillary could call Justine to one of her rallies.

Isetan · 01/11/2016 09:00

Hell no. The truth is, it is as close as it is because neither candidate is particularly trustworthy or likeable. Most of the 'dirt' surrounding these two isn't new but yet both parties chose to select candidates not fit for office.

Trump is a narcissist, Hilary is self serving, Johnson is an idiot and Stein is clueless. What's most depressing, is that this unsavoury circus won't end on Nov 9th.

MN is quite rightly staying out of thiis.

BarInSpace · 01/11/2016 09:16

I agree. Anyway, the world has always been a globe.

Isetan · 01/11/2016 09:18

Bill is not the reason for Hilary's problems (Trump overplayed his hand on this) and 'standing by her man' has probably earned her brownie points. I believe she's used her position to avoid going to prison, in what surely should have been an open and shut case. If she's willing to sacrifice the integrity of state secrets to protect her own agenda how far would she go? Wikileaks has no smoking gun but it does paint an unpleasant picture of someone who thinks they are above reproach. The arrogance she's been displaying of late doesn't undo her past good deeds but those past good deeds, don't entitle her to a free pass.

And Trump, is an opportunist pig who isn't fit to be in any position of power or influence.

OrangeFluff · 01/11/2016 09:24

This is how Americans must feel right now

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 01/11/2016 09:36

No MN should stay politically neutral

And really it would make no difference. Even many stanch democrats are not fans of Hilary so those floating you are not going to sway them all that can be done is to put fear into them of what having Trump as president would do to the country

GladAllOver · 01/11/2016 09:47

What has the USA come to when they can't come up with a better leader than one of these.

jdoe8 · 01/11/2016 09:57

We'll trump could get in, if he does many people will be saying why didn't we do more to stop this. The US president does affect the UK

OP posts:
StrictlyPan · 01/11/2016 10:10

Nope jdoe8 - we can't interfere even if we wished to. It's ultimately called imperialism. Last time we did, we burned the The White House down. Some Americans are still smarting from that episode.

There is a real chance Trump could win - it's the reluctance to admit in a poll but willingness to actually vote for the slob.

a8mint · 01/11/2016 10:21

At least trump makes no bones about what he is and doesn't pretend to be anything different but Hilary...?

Oh dear, sorry OP terrible idea! YABVU!

Why should Mumsnet be political?

"Yes, I heard on Fox News this morning that thousands of voters are still undecided as they don't know what Mumsnet's official stance is"

But how exactly would MN help on that? Considering most of the US voters have never heard of it?

Wookiecookies · 01/11/2016 10:31

I have to say, Im very glad not to be American right now, I do not envy them making the choice between those two fuckwits. Personally, I feel there will be many Americans left feeling very hollow on the 8th, regardless of the result.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 01/11/2016 10:32

I need I agree some folks on here are massively over estimating the impact and reach of mumsnet.
