To think mumsnet should be opening supporting Hillary

There is a real chance that trump could get in now. Hillary clearly has fab policy's for paid maternity leave, equal pay, and a rock solid record in fighting for women's equality. See the site shewinswewin.org/record-of-achievement/

Has MN publicly endorsed her? With millions of users across the world many will be in the US.

No, mn should not get involved in politics ever no matter what country

TSSDNCOP · 31/10/2016 17:19

I turned on CNN yesterday to see Farage's ugly fright face endorsing The Donald. You don't get more Halloween than that.

I can't think why Huma hasn't resigned though. It's one thing Hillary putting the emails out there, and BTW she really needs to get her skates on with that because they're 3 days in on continuous news cycles, but it's poor judgement to still have an aide that is so toxic.

Dontpanicpyke · 31/10/2016 17:21

No would be totally inappropriate

Thisjustinno · 31/10/2016 17:31

It's a parenting website. It should be politically neutral.

BeALert · 31/10/2016 19:52

and BTW if she was a man would you be supporting her?

Yes I absolutely would. Her policies are not that different to Obama's, and I also voted for him.

Huma should have left Wiener after the first incident. She's pretty stupid to have stayed with him and expected to keep her job IMO.

derxa · 31/10/2016 20:05

I'm watching Ch4 news i've never seen such anti Trump bias. Thankfully I can see through it. MN is not a political vehicle.

AcrossthePond55 · 31/10/2016 20:51

Why should she leave a job she's good at and well-qualified for simply because she married the wrong man? That's the same as saying that Hillary isn't qualified to be President because Bill was unfaithful. No one should judge anyone based on their spouse's behaviour. The decision to stay or not stay with a cheater is a highly personal one and doesn't reflect on someone's ability to do their job.

FWIW I would have kicked my DH to the kerb if he had done what Weiner did. But I certainly wouldn't have expected to be asked to resign my job if I didn't.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 31/10/2016 21:08

Good god how ridiculous!!!

No. no. No.

earlyrise · 31/10/2016 21:13

This.

It's all the mainstream media. Just a non-stop stream of bias. I don't even like Trump, but it's ridiculous. Did they not learn from Brexit?

In a bid to find alternative new sources, I did stumble on the YouTube documentary 'Clinton Cash.' I sent that to a few of my friends Stateside who then decided not to vote for Hilary. Thanks media.

Lweji · 31/10/2016 21:52

So, Trump can be as hateful and stupid as he wants that it's seen as bias to point it out?

Great.

LouisvilleLlama · 31/10/2016 21:56

To be fair Trump is a dick, but I do think their is a bias, Hilary isn't great but still gets some positive airtime, Trump I've seen nothing but negative, like I said he's a disk but I find it hard to believe everything he's said and done during the campaign is negative that there's no positive input

SpunkyMummy · 31/10/2016 22:05

I do not like trump. He is a rather horrible twit. But I really would prefer it if mumsnet stayed out of this.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 31/10/2016 22:09

So if there is no negative news reported about clinton

Does that mean there is no negative news about clinton?

Well....nothing provable at any rate

forkhandles4candles · 31/10/2016 22:13

Lost interest when at ernie bowed out, And no I am not interested I. MN endorsing a psychopathic war mongerer. What, just cos she is a woman???

forkhandles4candles · 31/10/2016 22:14

bernie, not at ernie...jeez

NickiFury · 31/10/2016 22:14

MN are too scared to support anything that might be remotely controversial these days. When was the last time they came out in support of anything worthwhile? Even their "safe" Every Disabled Child Matters campaign is rendered irrelevant by the disablist posts they regularly allow to stand.

Lweji · 31/10/2016 22:14

I find it hard to believe everything he's said and done during the campaign is negative that there's no positive input

You could listen to his speeches and see if you come out with any positives.
He's quite good at accusing others, aka projecting.

lljkk · 31/10/2016 22:18

actually, Trump has really struck a cord (I agree with this) about American involvement in foreign wars being futile. USA can't go on trying to be the saviour of the world. This sentiment resonates with left & right, at the moment. He is also right to rattle chains about NATO partners should fulfill their obligations.

Doesn't make up for his terrible ideas, though.

Lweji · 31/10/2016 22:28

US involvement is not about being saviour. It's naive to think so.
When there's involvement there are economic concerns (oil), or security primarily for US interests.

It may not be obvious, but Obama worked on a more diplomatic influence than military, which, quite frankly, had been inherited from the previous administration.

The US doesn't favour diplomacy over military action. Weaker presidents went off after one term. Carter and then Bush (who didn't go all the way to Baghdad, and his son sort of inherited that job to finish, with disastrous consequences).

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/10/2016 22:32

I find the thought of either of them as president pretty scary! I feel sorry for anyone having to make a decision between them.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 31/10/2016 23:29

Well I agree with you or at least I agree a discussion could/ should be opened up around it.
I disagree that because we are a UK based forum a poster can't endorse a US candidate - we live in a global world it affects us. With the FBI case against Clinton's aide she's lost her 12 point lead. Looking increasingly likely Trump will win.
It's a dangerous world we're facing.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 31/10/2016 23:32

No one is stopping out from disgusting it. This is a forum after all.

A poster can endorse who they like. It is a very different things to expect MNHQ to actively endorse anyone.

PickAChew · 31/10/2016 23:36

It's not really mumsnet's place to endorse a political candidate, especially one a quarter of the way around the world, even if their opponent is really fucking scary.

BeALert · 01/11/2016 00:40

Why should she leave a job she's good at and well-qualified for simply because she married the wrong man?

I said she should have left her husband, not her job.
