Horses in residential streets

Why do horse riders think it is ok to go onto residential srreets ( not a through road to a field or anything) and let their horses shit all over the pavements and roads?

Because it is ok.

Horse poo is perfectly organic and natural.

I love seeing horses on the streets.

Plus they have every right to be there.

Where would you rather they ride? Down non residential streets? Like motorways?

Why on the pavements? I wouldn't mind on the roads. Someone will be along soon to scoop it up for their garden anyway.

Because the non residential roads are fast moving and more dangerous for them maybe?

on tracks?. Loads of farmland and paths around here. Its a large housing estate. YOu would have to deliberately take your horse into it. Not a through road, no fields where horses are on the other side

Because there is no law that says they cant be on a residential street.
Plus i am surprised there is any horse dung left on the road.....round here they walk behind the hotse with shovels. Very keen gardeners where i live

Horses are veggie and their poo doesn't smell bad and as already mentioned it's an extremely good fertilizer.

That's because dogs are omnivores - vegan shit is way less unpleasant and hazardous - it's basically just grass, and doesn't even smell.

Their shit is grass so it's not stinky like carnivore dog shit, also it's massive so easy to avoid walking on it.

Who's going to hold the horse while the owner picks up the muck?

It doesn't bother me seeing them riding down the streets here, there's countryside but I guess it's good to get horses used to all sorts of places.

They don't have an obligation to tidy it up.

Tracks? Most riders would like to avoid roadwork where possible but most bridlepaths are few and far between and accessed by roads.

Residential housing estate will at least provide a safer space- less likelihood of speeding cars and less busy

Compared to dog poo or cat poo, horse poo is relatively inoffensive.

Plus, as it's bigger, it's harder to not notice it and accidentally stand in it.

Locally we have race horses, happy hackers and police horses. Some of the none road spaces are designated shared people/horse/cycle paths doesn't seem to be a problem. We also have a strong Romany Gypsy and Traveller presence so we even get the odd horse in a front garden for a few hours. We all seem to muddle along. Horse poo is much sought after by keen gardeners.
