AIBU to take 6 children into a doctors appointment with me today rather than wait until tomorrow?

I have had a sore throats and temp for a week. I know it's normally just leave it see if it gets better but although the temp is better the throat is so much worse. My tonsils join together in the middle in a sort of giant monotonsil.

Last year I had the same and ended up in hospital with I've antibiotics etc. Drinking and even swallowing. My own spit is hard now. BUT I don't see any pus etc which makes me think it's prob only a virus.

Anyway I have 6 children and no one to look after them after a night of gagging on my own tonsils I called the gp (feeing guilty about "just a sore throat"). And she told me to come in today.

I feel terribly bad that I am going to fill the tiny doctors with 6 young children. Last time I did that a lot of the other patients gave me daggers even though I had them standing against a wall rather than taking up the seats.

If I wait until tomorrow dh can take he day off and I can go alone.

I just keep having. Flashbacks to a and e oxygen and drips from last year!

Aibu to fill the surgery with children for the sake of a non pus filled just swollen throat?

Hope you've been seen and got some help!

I have a DS with autism and there's no way I could leave him with a 12-year-old to look after him.

'Do you have a friend who could watch even some of them for an hour?'

She just said she has no one who can watch them. Why do people do this? 'I have no childcare' 'Do you have a friend or a neighbour who can look after them?' 'I have no money and nowhere to get any,' 'Do you have a friend or relative you can borrow from?' Sigh.

Ok well I am settling into a ward with my little drip and apparently tomorrow I'm getting "drained" so something to look forward to anyway...

Oh thank goodness you went to GP, what's wrong? Hope you get better soon.

BakeOffBiscuits · 27/10/2016 20:05

Oh goodness. Well at least you're being looked after.

Hope you feel better soon!Flowers

I was going to suggest quinsy when you mentioned about your spit.

i had a terrible throat infection a couple of years ago, couldn't swallow, couldn't eat, could barely breathe.. i was having to constantly spray my throat with that Difflam stuff to get any fluid down me!

They wondered if it was quinsy, but i had mine out when i was 17.

Its basically a serious form of bacterial tonsilitis that causes an abscess between one of your tonsils and your throat wall, that's what they will be dealing with tomorrow!

Tonsillectomy is the only way to 'cure' it if you're prone to it.

I'm so glad you went to the GP. You poor thing. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Flowers

SloanePeterson · 27/10/2016 20:36

I hope you manage to get some sleep and that the draining isn't too bad! The relief you'll feel if it is a quinsy will be immense. I felt like being in hospital should be a rest from the dc but it's just not like that, constant obs and an uncomfortable cannula made it so tricky to rest. Sending you all the best x

Stormwhale · 27/10/2016 20:44

Bloody hell op. You are a trooper! Can't believe you were just carrying on with all the kids with quinsy. You poor bugger. At least you will get a rest in hospital!

kiwimumof2boys · 27/10/2016 23:31

get well soon OP! I came on reading pg 1 to say I think your DC sound adorable (matching plaits! so cute!) but just seen you've been hospitalised - take care.

ApocalypseNowt · 28/10/2016 08:31

Get well soon OP!

Hope you feel better soon x

From now on I'm going to my gp as soon as I get a sniffle things never end well for me when I don't Grin.

Great news! Now stern face take it easy this weekend. Flowers

RB68 · 28/10/2016 09:47

So glad you are sorted women are so bad at sorting themselves out without realising often if they are hospitalised someone somewhere has to collect the slack. Am off to GP myself this am for a cold that has "descended" and I think chest infection sinusitus and possible ear infection as well ...sigh

Hope everyone poorly is feeling better soo

Katy07 · 28/10/2016 09:50

Hi op hope you're doing ok. Just thought I'd tell my little story. Coming up to my first wedding anniversary and thee days before our wedding last year the doctor said dh might need to be hospitalised for quinsey. Luckily it stayed as tonsillitis but he narrowly avoided being taken in. She said on the weds that they would make the call on Fri. Our wedding was the Saturday!! I was thinking about trying to find a replacement groom from somewhere!! Grin

Crumbs op are they sure that's It? No tonsils out or anything? Hope you're okay and rest up and get dh and sil to help out all weekend!

Lilaclily · 28/10/2016 11:30

Grin doublecarrick
Crumbs that must have been a stressful week! And most people just fret over the wrong colour cream for the flowers Grin

DoubleCarrick · 28/10/2016 11:48

Haha it was hideous. He'd taken the week off to complete his part of the to do list but all of the jobs ended up being down to me because he was in bed for the week!! The day before the wedding we had to set up the venue. He sat on the sofa with my nan and a blanket while we all set up around him!
