Fortune Teller's Reading - Kids

Didn't know where to put this post.
I often worry about a prediction a fortune teller told me.

Went to see the same one twice, but the first time was in a big audience and he really didn't recognise me the second time, which was at his shop.
He's done quite well out of fortune telling - well-known and has sold books.

I have Romany Gypsies in my distant past (a great grandparent's upbringing), so I've always been curious. I bought Tarrot cards to see if I could learn them, but after this incident it's put me off. I was never sure I really believed in what they had to say, but I had an open mind.

First time I saw him he said things that no-one would have known. He also said I'd have a son who would be musical - I am very musical also.
Anyway, as it turns out, I did have a son, but I had a daughter first.

The second time I saw him he read a ring I gave him that used to belong to my Great-grandmother (engagement), but I always wore it. He closed his eyes and said that a little girl would come into my life and be with me for a while - he kept repeating this. Then he said she would go away again, but I would have a son would bring the family closer together again.

When he said this, he looked at me in shock like he was panicking a bit. He looked really uncomfortable. Then he ended the meeting. Since then, I've been really worried that that little girl is my daughter and that something is going to happen to her. Everytime something almost happens - she gets close to what could be a potential accident, I start to panic.

Could he have been reading my great-grandmother's past, instead of my fortune? She had a son, but there might have been another child I didn't know about. I would advice people not to go to fortune tellers. The reading was now 7 years ago, and it still haunts me. I'd like to hear feedback from people who are open-minded on this issue, as I'm sure lots of people will also tell me it's all rubbish. Also, advice on how I can forget it. Thanks.

Psychics are a load of bullshit. I once went to one with a friend and was told I would have lots of children and be pregnant several times. Well she clearly couldn't see the fucking future as me and DP tried and failed to conceive naturally for about 10 years Grin

It's called cold reading. I feel sorry for people who believe this rubbish.

Please don't worry about this - even if you completely believe that there is something in this there are loads of ways this could be interpreted. The little girl could be a friend's child, perhaps you fall out or move away from her family, maybe it's a female animal you rescue, maybe you move into a house with a wee ghost, maybe she's someone you come across in the course of your work, maybe she's the subject of a news item you can't stop thinking about, there are millions of things it could be and none of them have anything to do with your daughter.
I'm not sure if I believe in psychic abilities, I have had one reading that has turned out to be inexplicably accurate but on the other hand I've had a lot of readings that were pure mince. I will say, however, that the kind of intrusive thoughts you are having can be a symptom of things like anxiety. If you think that this might be the case for you please see your GP or similar. There's a lot of help available and it's a horrible thing to suffer alone.

A psychic at a party told me "you are a spiritual person"
"No I'm not"
"You are, but you haven't realised it yet"
What a load of bollocks

OP, Derren Brown has written a book explaining lots of the tricks psychics use, and has some TV shows exposing their tricks. There was a good episode which featured a popular psychic who had halls full of customers and Derren reveals his methods. The psychic flounced in the end as I think he planned to fool Derren too.

Also I met someone who used to 'read' tarot cards for a living and she said she just tried to give them good advice and twisted the meaning of the cards to support whatever she thought was best!

I've been to loads of psychics, just for fun really and they usually get about half of it right. I find its quite nice to go and chat about myself for an hour! I have been told lots of different things about children. My mum was told she would have 5 sons - she didn't. Its just fun OP. If there really were psychics they'd be billionaires. Psychics are just very practised intuitive people.
