To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

No No No No

but sadly Theresa may has turned out to be a racist xenophobe
and Corbyn has always been anti EU (for the last 35 years)
so we fall back on Scot Nat they were not on my ballot paper in Hampshire
and Lib Dem emasculated after getting buggered by Dave and Gideon

the UK has sleepwalked into Enoch Powell''s wet dream
we are all screwed

No.

But then, I'm an EU immigrant and voted Remain, so I would think that.

Yes

And I'm not trying to be provocative but there is no way man is an unbiased cross section.

The majority on mn voted remain (see EU Ref board it's a bit of an echo chamber) so you are going to get a metric fuckton of 'No I am NOT happy with hard brexit'

I also don't know of any of these sudden change-of-heart leavers in real life.

I'm interested to know why MN isn't representative of society for the purposes of a straw poll on this subject.

I know the EU threads are pretty much all Remain but purposely posted in AIBU to avoid that problem.

Because of the demographic of mn?

As leave voters are being reminded it mainly was non-council estate, well educated and liberal southerners who voted remain.

I'd say a fair majority of mners fit that description?

(So do I but I'm an outlier obviously 😁)

My experience of MN does not make me think that ^^ that is the demographic at all, it's much more varied.

No. I wanted to remain.

I think I could have accepted a soft brexit but I don't like the direction our government is taking; no debating of article 50 or 'the plan' in parliament, companies forced to provide lists of foreign employees, ignoring the opinions of experts (the only ones who will pass our immigration control and we are expecting to still want to work in the UK post brexit), pissing off the rest of the eu.

On a good day I hope this is just May's poker face. On a bad day I am genuinely afraid for the future.

Surar
We are an echo chamber
but are a ferkin big one

Farage said he'd not accept 52 :48 ( he was assuming the other way)

We MUST hold him to that
or we are weak

Are we weak?

No. I am completely devastated. Not one good thing has happened since the referendum. It's all gone to shit! I don't understand may's approach - why a "Hard Brexit" ? She must understand the strength of opinion and the implications. Uggghhh Angry

No, but I voted remain. I think Brexit will tank our economy and prospects, as well as severely exacerbating xenophobic and nationalist attitudes.

Report
froubylou · 16/10/2016 19:02

Yes I am.

I voted remain. based on dp being in the construction industry and the possibility of a crash.

It might still happen. But so far the construction industry seems to be enjoying a bit of a boom. exports are up due to the better value pound. And because we do a lot of commercial work that can only be good for business.

I completly understand that Brexit hasn't actually happened yet but I believe whe it does we will see more not less growth. The UK will be more self sufficient, import less and export more and have more control over its own trade agreements moving forward.
