To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

Yes everything doing ok so far, just dont want any compromises on sovereignty, law, finances, trade or movement of people. We will see...

TeenAndTween · 16/10/2016 17:53

Not the majority - a majority vote

That's the way it goes. If you can't be bothered to vote then your view is irrelevant.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 16/10/2016 17:54

No, but am resigned/think it has to be done.

sohardtothinkofanotherusername · 16/10/2016 17:56

As others have said, we don't know what form Brexit will take, so hard to say. I voted leave for 'Lexit' reasons, and would probably opt for a hard Brexit myself, but I understand that people are really upset and frightened so if we got a softer Brexit, I'd view that as a compromise, but one that I'd accept.

IamWendy · 16/10/2016 17:56

Was just typing the exact same thing teen. It seems odd how animated the remoaners are now, but they didn't have enough get-up-and-go to vote en mass. The silent brexiteers did.

UncontrolledImmigrant · 16/10/2016 17:57

It will be what it is

I am not happy with the upswing in xenophobia which has happened pure conicidently (surely) with the vote

I would prefer to not be asked when I am fucking off home, but I guess it makes a change from only seeing xenophobic headlines in newspapers so...

No

EstelleRoberts · 16/10/2016 17:57

Hell no

Too depressing for me to watch the news or read a paper at the moment. I can't deal with the stress and feeling of impotence. Like watching an incredibly slow-mo car crash where everyone's about to die, after telling the driver to walk away from the car. Shudder.

UncontrolledImmigrant · 16/10/2016 17:58

I am very interested to see what the outcome and reaction will be to another vote on Scottish independence, and whether England accepts that as binding, or purely advisory Hmm

Bearbehind · 16/10/2016 17:58

wendy, if you want to be provocative please go elsewhere.

This is Yes or No.

TheColonelAdoresPuffins · 16/10/2016 17:58

No. I voted remain.

TeenAndTween · 16/10/2016 17:59

Mind you, I am of the view that for referenda on major changes it should be a 2/3 majority in favour of the change before it can go ahead or a 50%+ in favour of change referendum should be repeated after say 2 or 3 years and again get a 50%+ in favour before the change goes ahead.

So Brexit & Scottish vote.

IamWendy · 16/10/2016 17:59

I hate to be pedantic, but you and others have posted more than just yes or no. Will you be leaving?

alltouchedout · 16/10/2016 18:00

No. It's even worse than I thought it would be.

squoosh · 16/10/2016 18:01

Wendy stop trying to stir the pot with your 'remoaner' nonsense.

MrsMcMoo · 16/10/2016 18:04

It's an unmitigated disaster and anyone who doesn't realise it yet are either seriously thick or crazy ideologues. The referendum did not give the government a blank cheque to destroy our country and we need a vote in parliament urgently to protect our constitutional rights.

Bearbehind · 16/10/2016 18:05

Grow up wendy

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 16/10/2016 18:06

No.

But the brexitets are playing the long game, aren't they? They think things will be better fir the next generation. Things are supposed to get worse before they get better, aren't they?

So far things seem to be worse, but hey ho, fingers crossed.

EssentialHummus · 16/10/2016 18:07

Couldn't vote as (oh, the irony) I'm Polish, but like PP would be less angry and terrified if I thought someone, anyone in Government had the faintest idea where we're heading.

At a personal level, Boris was on my shortlist of baby names (Russian DH), and Brexit has more or less fucked that, too.

acasualobserver · 16/10/2016 18:09

in competent hands (like Jeremy Corbyn's) a Brexit could have worked.

Thanks for that - you don't often get a laugh on referendum threads.

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 16/10/2016 18:09

No.

I'm on the verge of getting off my fence.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/10/2016 18:09

I would have thought MN is quite representative of a cross action of society on this subject

MN is nothing like representative.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 16/10/2016 18:09

I don't know a single person who would say yes to your OP with or who voted leave ... oh except one colleague and I wiped the floor with her arguments. She'd thought we won the war on our own (hadn't heard of the allied forces) and had no understanding of a global economy.
I am married to and mix with economists - they have all said we are heading for disaster.

Doobigetta · 16/10/2016 18:16

No. It was a stupid idea in the first place and it still is now.
