AIBU - Car on Drive

soselfopinionated · 15/10/2016 14:03

My first AIBU, I cannot believe it - and, guess what?? I have a strange car parked on my driveway! Didn't think it would ever happen to me..... but it has and, yes, it has really pissed me off!! Not only that, but there is gravel between my kitchen window and the driveway and the owner of the car has tried to park in my kitchen! Seriously, I could reach out of my window and touch it. I am now sitting at kitchen table, daring not to leave in case they come back and get it. Need advice on what to write on a note and how to stick it on...... There is plenty of car park space on road, they obviously were not going to my house and there is nothing around us they would want to leave the car and walk to, so why???? And tell me (nicely please) AIBU??

Well the mystery has been solved and now I have to go back to housework

PatMullins · 15/10/2016 14:35

That is fuuuuucking rude.

Narnian · 15/10/2016 14:36

Aw. It's over. Sad

ChameleonCircuit · 15/10/2016 14:36

With that attitude I think I'd have sat on the car bonnet for a while. Cheeky fuckers.

ImissGrannyW · 15/10/2016 14:37

Damn!

DeputyPecksBentBeak · 15/10/2016 14:39

Cheeky fuckers. I'm so mad your behalf.

McButtonwillow · 15/10/2016 14:40

Missed all the action 😦.

But what happened at the end of the dogging thread? I haven't seen the thread since the day after the op had been down with her tractor crew and the police had been called- anyone know if that was the end of it or did more happen?

DarkBlueEyes · 15/10/2016 14:45

Loving the lack of apology entitlement. YOu sound like a kind person. I'd have bollocked them.

TrickyD · 15/10/2016 14:50

What dogging thread?

OhThatThingAgain · 15/10/2016 14:50

I'm not advocating this in any way, but someone don't I know (it wasn't me!) got a permanent marker and wrote CUNT with an arrow pointing up on the drivers door of a car on their drive. It happened on private property so it was a civil matter rather than criminal apparently?

My friend drove with said wording on his car until he could get to Halfords for some T-Cut. I think he learned a hard lesson about polite parking that day.

Personally I'd have been out with cheap lipsticks and sudocreme and let my toddlers go to town on their new outdoor drawing board.

Some bloke parked up against my front door once, then shouted abuse at me when I climbed over his bonnet. It was even better when his harpy wife started having a go too. I was actually waiting for Jeremy Kyle to make an appearance.

Another vote for blocking them in!!

soselfopinionated · 15/10/2016 15:34

Well can I thank you all for making my first AIBU so nice Flowers for you all xx Sorry there wasn't a little more drama x

how rude!!

BowieFan · 15/10/2016 15:57

We are unlucky enough to live in an area fairly close to a tourism hotspot where the parking is expensive. We also have a large drive. As you can imagine, for a while people used our drive to avoid paying to park.

DP took great delight in installing some retractable bollards a couple of years ago. They are the best thing ever. His favourite thing to do is to leave them down (as we always do) and then wait for a stranger to park on the drive and go about their business and then put the bollards up. Then he charges them to get out. Yes, we are incredibly petty people. We'd have had gates but the length of the driveway opening makes it impossible.

TrickyD · 15/10/2016 16:18

Raportina, thank you! That was fascinating and, as McButton says, an update would be gratefully received by many.

wigglywigglyworm · 15/10/2016 16:30

For a start, put nails behind each tyre so when they reverse they go over nails!!! No initial damage by cur 4 slow punctures Grin phone police and ask them to remove. They in private property and it's illegal!

And do you have any paint remover handy Wink

CockacidalManiac · 15/10/2016 16:41

The cheeky fuckers!

We haven't had a decent parking thread for a few days (since the dogging one)

I really need a link for this, please?

eurochick · 27/11/2016 20:36

Properly cheeky fuckers!

nanny3 · 27/11/2016 20:44

let the tyres down sit back and enjoy lol

BarbaraofSeville · 27/11/2016 21:56

Shock People do this? Really?

I suppose one of the upsides of living in the north where we have to put up with affordable housing, slightly less interesting museums and theatres and restaurants from only 90% of the world's countries is that we can live in the world where this is such a bizarre occurence that it would never happen at all ever.

Having said that, I did once spot two young boys that I did not know riding their scooters on my drive. On questioning them on what they thought they were doing to receive the reply of 'nowt' when I suggested that they might find somewhere else to do nowt, they happily obliged and found someone else's drive somewhere else out of my sight to do nowt.

Evilstepmum01 · 27/11/2016 22:08

bowiefan you may have just made this thread.
I love your DH's bollards and evil plan!
Picture pleeeeeeease!

Allergictoironing · 27/11/2016 22:19

A relative of mine lives in a road that is a mix of private and council housing - she owns her house. Soon after moving in she looked out to see 2 youngish lads tearing about on her gravelled front garden (very small). When she asked them what the F they thought they were doing, they tried to say that as the council owns the house they have a right to use the front as it's public property! Shock.

She was too taken aback to retort that did that mean she could camp out in their kitchen, though she did disabuse them of a) the ownership of the property and b) the difference between council ownership & public rights of way.

Wookiecookies · 27/11/2016 23:06

Aww... anti climax! Although to extend the festivities and in true mumsnet style, I am going to demand a good reason as to why you did not invite them in for a cup of tea and a bourbon biscuit?

obligatory eye roll Hmm

pipsqueak25 · 28/11/2016 00:24

is this andy messing about again and winding up the neighbours ?
