AIBU - Car on Drive

soselfopinionated · 15/10/2016 14:03

My first AIBU, I cannot believe it - and, guess what?? I have a strange car parked on my driveway! Didn't think it would ever happen to me..... but it has and, yes, it has really pissed me off!! Not only that, but there is gravel between my kitchen window and the driveway and the owner of the car has tried to park in my kitchen! Seriously, I could reach out of my window and touch it. I am now sitting at kitchen table, daring not to leave in case they come back and get it. Need advice on what to write on a note and how to stick it on...... There is plenty of car park space on road, they obviously were not going to my house and there is nothing around us they would want to leave the car and walk to, so why???? And tell me (nicely please) AIBU??

I also think it is a friend or relative of the neighbour who has been told they can park on her drive while she is away and they have got the wrong house. Can you text her and ask?

dancemom · 15/10/2016 14:21

Can you move your car past it?

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 15/10/2016 14:22

BLOCK IT IN! Grin

We haven't had a decent parking thread for a few days (since the dogging one) Grin

we need photos and popcorn Wink

One day someone will figure out how to do a live video feed.

PaulDacreCuntyMcCuntFace · 15/10/2016 14:22

I am blatantly placemarking...I love a good parking thread.

Bedsheets4knickers · 15/10/2016 14:23

I bet it's stolen

Bedsheets4knickers · 15/10/2016 14:23

Call out a clamp company

Bedsheets4knickers · 15/10/2016 14:24

Ooohhh and liking the Vaseline idea yes do that

Xmasfairy86 · 15/10/2016 14:25

I am far too excited over this Grin

Mumofazoo · 15/10/2016 14:25

Place marking sorry Grin

SmilingButClueless · 15/10/2016 14:26

YANBU. It's bloody cheeky.

I used to get problems with entitled drivers using my allocated parking space to pop to the local shops - lost count of the number of times I was shouted and sworn at (in terribly naice accents) for insisting that they move. But to park in someone's actual drive?!

Definitely block them in.

MyKingdomForBrie · 15/10/2016 14:26

People have the most ridiculous nerve! Update ASAP OP!

carrielou2007 · 15/10/2016 14:26

Ooh a weekend parking thread! So sorry some twerp has done this whilst keeping us lot enthralled Blush

WhatsUpp · 15/10/2016 14:27

I'd call the police in case it's stolen. You never know, they may call the owners to come and shift it.

Someone blocked my driveway and I Called the police who contacted the offender and warned them to get it moved now, as they were technically imprisoning me! Obviously you're not trapped in.l but my point is they may fall the driver and scare them enough to deter them again!

WhatsUpp · 15/10/2016 14:27

*call

DarkBlueEyes · 15/10/2016 14:28

Definitely DEFINITELY block them in. And then don't answer the door or the whole of mumsnet will not have anything to entertain them.

As to the note, I feel we need to give this some thought. Long or short?

If short, I'm liking the THIS IS NOT A CARPARK! I HAVE CALLED THE POLICE kind of thing, long, maybe

What on earth gives you the right to park on MY PRIVATE LAND? you ignorant fucker. This is MY driveway, not yours. fuck off I have taken photos of your car and your licence plate and will be reporting to the police.

Please do report back!

soselfopinionated · 15/10/2016 14:28

Really, really sorry - you can put the popcorn away for another day. Elderly couple just came back from house around the corner and went to get in car. I went outside and said, 'Excuse me, but this is my driveway' to which the old woman replied, 'yes, well we were a bit stuck for somewhere to park'. (Friends/relatives of nearby neighbours, people I only say hello to) No sorry or anything. So I said I wouldn't have minded if perhaps someone would have been respectful enough to knock on the door and ask. She actually said she didn't know anyone was in!!!! Try knocking love, you'll soon find out if someone here!!!!! And my own car was there!!!!
Son just got here now too, he'll be most disappointed. xxx

I think the law means you can't stop a vehicle from accessing a highway. Which is what they've done here to you.

That said, block the fucker in and pretend you've sunk a bottle of wine with lunch. Oops none of you can legally drive.

My neighbour once told me someone she vaguely knew used to do u-turns on gravel drives because the gravel would stick in her tyres and make her look richer. Confused Apparently she was v angry when one of our other neighbours moved in and out gates across her drive as she did the Monday morning gravel u-turn at that particular property every week for years. Hmm

kilmuir · 15/10/2016 14:29

How bizarre
Someone hasn't got wrong address?

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 15/10/2016 14:29

Follow them home and park on their drive.

StealthPolarBear · 15/10/2016 14:30

Wow

DesolateWaist · 15/10/2016 14:31

I so hope that your son gets there in time.

I cannot comprehend why anyone would think this was ok.

That said there is always someone who posts on these threads saying it wouldn't bother them.

Enkopkaffetak · 15/10/2016 14:31

How odd. Would never occur to me to park on someones drive without permission.

However OP you made me smile with this post I too do love a good parking thread.

DesolateWaist · 15/10/2016 14:32

Bugger, cross post. In both senses.
