Hundreds of thousands of people were willing Condemn a innocent man. He was practically forced out of football. This is why we can't play jury from our sofas.

Nice men, good men, loving men don't penetrate a young, vulnerable woman too drunk to consent to sex whilst another man films it. It is rape and it's disgusting.

I was once at a party in my late teens and got very drunk. My now dh (he was just a friend at the time) put me to bed fully clothed and checked I was on my side/okay periodically. When he was doing one of these checks and discovered another man had got into the bed with me and was getting too close to me, him and his mate dragged this man out and kicked him out.

Because they are good men. Not rapists. They were young themselves then and a bit drunk but they instinctively knew that I was vulnerable and no man should have been siding up to me in bed while I was half-conscious.

Rapists are Rapists. They take sex with power and coldness. They don't care about or for women. You ask any of the normal, caring men in this world about CE and they will view him as the rapist cunt that he is.

I believe her. I believe all the survivors on this thread. Just as the dust had settled on that predatory, paedophile Adam Johnson, now this Sad

Felascloak · 19/10/2016 07:44

Hillary dublin murder squad are some of my favourites. Love them love them. If I was going to fanfic, that's what I would do. Have a whole idea in my head of what happened to Jamie and Peter.
I read 2 pages of 50 shades and had to stop. Load of old crap.

a7mints · 19/10/2016 10:28

I believe her

believe what? She can't remember what happened! It is the CPS who are pressing charges not her

TheWoodlander · 19/10/2016 10:35

She was called a liar in court by one of the new bribed witnesses.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 19/10/2016 10:59

Believe her that she doesn't remember? Is that really such a difficult conclusion to come to? Seen a few people whinging about it.

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 11:37

Oh fuck off. I believe her right not to have her irrelevant sexual history dragged through court. I believe she doesn't remember and therefore wasn't able to consent. I believe the original charge of rape. I believe etc

There are numerous things to believe that don't make you a rape apologist cunt. See easy peasy.

a7mints · 19/10/2016 11:52

wow! so aggressive!

FullTimeYummy · 19/10/2016 11:59

Believe that she can't remember all you like. That doesn't mean she couldn't have consented. This was presented in the court case, by an independent technical expert.

You should at least understand the facts before reacting so aggressively

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 12:02

Yes I will be aggressive in the face of rape apology and a rape culture which is damaging to me and my daughters.

It's only in my life time that rape wasn't acknowledged within marriage.

It's only in my grandparents' life time that women weren't allowed to vote.

I don't think progress was made by sitting around being 'lady like' was it?

TheWoodlander · 19/10/2016 12:03

This was presented in the court case, by an independent technical expert.

In the retrial?

Technical expert?

Marbleheadjohnson · 19/10/2016 12:05

Maybe her childhood friend who was shitting himself that perhaps what he did was rape too was the technical expert.

Lighthouseturquoise · 19/10/2016 12:06

Why are women always 'aggressive' for having an opinion?

Apologise for rapists and you will get told to fuck off.

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 12:08

So if your daughter/mother/sister was so drunk that they would have memory loss the next day, you'd be happy for a random man to penetrate them? Happy that she consented freely?

I'm suspicious that the rape apologists on this thread have something to hide? Men who think it's okay to fuck a woman who can barely stand, while another man tries to film it, speak not a word to her then leave her to potentially choke on her own vomit lie in her own urine?

If you are such a man, you've just seen the tip of my aggression.

If you are women, maybe you have sons who are happy to behave in such ways. Sons who apologise for such behaviour. Maybe you have daughters who you tell not to get drunk and dress provocatively around men because then it's their fault if they get raped?

a7mints · 19/10/2016 12:11

I get blind drunk , punch a policeman in the face and steal his helmet. Can't remember it in the morning.
You still have to own teh consequences of the decisions you make whilst drunk.
I am not a rape apologist because the court has decided this rape did not happen!

Knockmesideways · 19/10/2016 12:14

Also these women are fine reading 50 Shades Of Grey yet cry foul when a real person does it to them?

I enjoyed reading Lord of the Rings but it doesn't mean I want to be chopped up by an Orc or be pursued by Ring Wraiths!

I just can't comprehend his fiancée - I understand standing by a man who has been falsely accused but he admitted he had sex with another woman who was having sex with his friend. How can you lower yourself by offering a reward to prove him innocent? Even if you're deluded enough to believe it wasn't rape (yeah right) you have to have some sense of pride that tells you LTB surely to God? I wouldn't be able to look DH in the eye if I found out he'd even gone to the hotel room with the woman let alone did what Chad Evans did. His fiancée wants to get a grip and dump him - rapist or not he's proved he's a piece of trash just by turning up at the room and she's making herself look like an idiot standing by him.

Lighthouseturquoise · 19/10/2016 12:18

People just can't handle it that some seemingly normal men rape women. The truth hurts their soul. Real rapists lurk down alleyways at night and behind bushes.

They tell themselves that if a lady behaves nicely, she won't get raped. If she keeps herself safe, she can't be raped. They tell themselves this because it means it will never happen to them, or their daughters.

The type of men that are rape apologists do it because it's a bit too close to home for their liking.

Well it's bullshit, because even a prostitute can be raped.

If a prostitute is shagging a client in his car, it doesn't mean that his mate can jump in and get a freebie.

Just because some rapes are so hard to prove doesn't mean it's not rape.

Just because this girl can't remember doesn't mean she wasn't raped. Just as she might have said to Ched, "yeah come on in and join in". She might have said "who the fuck are you", and he went ahead and raped her. She might have been passed out on the bed when he stuck it in her, maybe he ran out the fire escape after he got no response.

Just because he's a lad, a footballer, it means nothing.

MostlyHet · 19/10/2016 12:18

Being raped is not a crime.

Punching a police man is a crime.

Hope that helps you get a grip on the difference between the two situations, and why your analogy is a really, really badly thought out one that does not advance discussion in the slightest.

Lighthouseturquoise · 19/10/2016 12:20

A7mints, the courts didn't find him innocent at all, that's not how the law works.

The new 'witnesses' cast doubt over the conviction.

A jury has to find a defendant guilty beyond reasonable doubt and they couldn't.

This is the case with most rapes because consent is difficult to prove.

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 12:23

Absolutely - it's 'safe world view' or cognitive dissonance.

Holding the belief that rape can't or won't happen to girls and women who behave in a certain way. They can't bring themselves to believe that rape can happen to random, normal, nice girls.

Lighthouseturquoise · 19/10/2016 12:24

Yes wtf has punching a policeman got to do with being raped.

There are some really brain dead people on this thread.

Better analogy would be being drunk and getting punched but not remembering, but waking up with the black eye.

PortiaCastis · 19/10/2016 12:25

Punching a policeman will get you a night in a nice comfy cell. You'd soon remember when you looked at your surroundings a7

FullTimeYummy · 19/10/2016 12:34

I'm glad court cases are decided by people with a dispassionate grasp of the full facts, and not by angry mumsnetters.

Good grief

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 12:34

It's a common psychological dysfunction. People just can't face up to the fact that evil and awful things happen to random innocents. That the law can be corrupt and let victims down. That a young woman who only went on a night out and got drunk (something countless innocent women have done) ended up with her life negatively affected forever, while her attacker walks away.

They need to protect themselves from the possibility it could happen to them or a close person to them. So they victim blame and delude themselves.

I've not been raped because I've been lucky. That is all.

toomanypetals · 19/10/2016 12:38

And I'm so fucking glad there are angry women who support victims and believe them. To counteract the rape apologists who let rape victims down just by perpetuating myths and half-truths about rape.

And we wonder why Jimmy Saville happened Hmm

Lighthouseturquoise · 19/10/2016 12:39

It's beyond imagination why anyone would want to defend Ched Evans.

Even it wasn't rape by law, those men treated that woman like an animal. Stop pretending it was a level playing field. There were four men involved, two tried to film it. This wasn't a clear cut case of two young people having a drunken one night stand.

Rather than labelling women how about some men start treating women like human beings?

From the start Clayton could have put her in a taxi home, he could have told Evans to leave, one of them could have stayed with her to make sure she was ok and see her home in the morning, you know, if it wasn't rape.
