AIBU to think that his girlfriend is an absolute disgrace to women?

It does question the whole if she is to drunk to consent and you have sex with her anyway for future rape cases. If she didn't know what she was doing and couldn't give consent then it is classed as rape. Women are going to be more terrified now to come forward.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/10/2016 16:29

I agree the process has been a disgrace but it's not his gf's fault. It was Ched Evans in that hotel room. It was his gf's father who put up the money for the reward.
This is about men and money and the type of 'justice' that gives you access to.

queenc81 · 14/10/2016 16:29

It's absolutely disgusting.

The poor victim has been ripped to shreds, but yet he will continue to play football and be in the public eye.

I'm truly shocked he got found not guilty.

Lighthouseturquoise · 14/10/2016 16:30

Rape is pretty much accepted in this country unless a complete stranger drags you behind a bush and batters you with it.

There's no point in reporting rape unless those are the circumstances.

If someone yo know or have willingly entered a room with rapes you you will be very lucky if you are even believed let alone getting a conviction.

The general public are more concerned with sending women who lie to prison than convicting rapists.

Harsh but true.

MLGs · 14/10/2016 16:31

This is so sad.

I can't think what went on in the application to adduce the evidence from previous partners but it sounds very odd. There had to be some particular similarity that makes it relevant and unless the positions were way out of the ordinary, I can't see how that's satisfied.

That said, you dont know what the jury based their decision on. The fact is that there is no potential jury in the country where most of them won't have heard all about this case.

ChunkyPunky · 14/10/2016 16:32

Sun That woman's father is a multi millionaire apparently. Owns a chain of jewellers. Her family have practically bank rolled the appeals/rewards etc. I can't get my head round why?

Sunshineonacloudyday · 14/10/2016 16:33

I agree the process has been a disgrace but it's not his gf's fault

No of course not could you be with someone like that who would cheat on you in that way. What reward???

Sunshineonacloudyday · 14/10/2016 16:33

Shows how much I know.

BowieFan · 14/10/2016 16:35

I'm not pleased about it and completely disagree with everything that his solicitor used in his defence (Drunk consent etc) but... I do think the original case was on dodgy legal ground anyway. I can't believe it actually went to trial. This wasn't like Adam Johnson which, as far as I'm concerned, was an open and shut case. Here (even though I felt like Evans did do it) I think it was much more of a grey area in regards to what happened.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/10/2016 16:36

Sunshine no I couldn't be with someone like that but when you think about how little self-respect you would have to have to stay; and when you know that her DF has been instrumental in funding CE's case then you can start to see where her skewed values come from.
Sorry I typed 'reward' and meant '£50k for new evidence that would clear CE'

peggyundercrackers · 14/10/2016 16:41

given the girl didn't complain and it was the police and CPS who took this forward I feel really sorry for her - she has been dragged through a nightmare she probably didn't want to be involved in in the first place. maybe she wanted to complain but knew it wouldn't go anywhere or that no one would believe her?

scallopsrgreat · 14/10/2016 16:49

Save your anger for him. You are just deflecting from his actions which are the ones that should be under the spotlight.

More misogyny.

Soubriquet · 14/10/2016 16:51

scallop you can be cross with him and cross with her too

She has set back women's rights all on her own by standing by a rapist

HazelBite · 14/10/2016 16:57

I agree with Bowiefan, and until you can read a true transcription of the proceedings in Court, I don't think it is something anyone can have a proper opinion on.
Lets face it all you and I are going to hear is press hearsay.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/10/2016 16:58

She hasn't set back my rights. To me, she's another example of a woman being used and abused by the men round about her. CE has used her consistently to pretend he's an upstanding family man Envy Her DF has shown publicly how little respect he has for his DD.
I am tired of women being blamed for men's crimes.
There is no parity imo between the actions of his gf and the actions of CE and the gf's DF.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 14/10/2016 17:00

This is nothing to do with the girlfriend. She is clearly very stupid, and her outlook on life more than a little screwed up, but that's not to be wondered at given the upbringing she will have had from such a father.

MLGs · 14/10/2016 17:01

I also don't think blaming the girlfriend is the answer.

CE is the one who committed rape, not yhe girlfriend.

galaxygirl45 · 14/10/2016 17:05

I literally am shell shocked at the verdict - and as for his gf, words fail me. I actually feel a bit sick, knowing he will now have his career back and she'll get the WAG treatment. They are pond scum.

AskBasil · 14/10/2016 17:11

Oh well. Just when you thought that women were moving towards having some legal protection from rape, we're reminded that if you're not a virgin and you're drunk, any man can put his cock in you whether you want him to or not and call it sex, not rape.

This is what comes of men being the ones who define sex and rape.

FlyingElbows · 14/10/2016 17:13

She hasn't set anyone's rights back. She's been thoroughly used by both her revolting boyfriend and, even worse, her own father. I suspect the father wants to use CE as a buy in to football. Own the boy and buy your way on to the board. He's not thrown his money at this just to keep his Princess happy. Princess will get her schleb rag wedding photo shoot pay off and more handbags than she can shake her hair extensions at. She's a pawn being used by the men around her for their own gain. I feel desperately sorry for her that she's been raised to have such pitifully low self worth.

marcus2017x · 14/10/2016 18:05

her previous experiences were brought into question as it came to light that she had similar 'specific' sex before and after her experience with Ched Evans and so this supported his acquital

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 18:10

Always worth a shot...

TheoriginalLEM · 14/10/2016 18:22

So the take home message is that women should not be getting so drunk that they are unable to consent to sex. Especially if they have had sex on previous or subsequent occasions.

They should probably watch what they wear too and be careful not to dance provocatively in case it gives the idea that she is into physical pleasures.

This will need further clarification but could possibly be proportional to the financial and celebrity status of the poor saps these sirens lure into thrir lairs. Remember that their egos will be such as they will think all women will be gagging for it and they are just giving them what they want.

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 18:27

Victim should also be careful not to consume any product that they have not broke the seal on themselves, in case anything is spiked. Don't even trust friends - I was spiked by a friend 'for a laugh'!

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 18:28

Perhaps some sort of rohipnol-testing nailvarnish. Or a chastity belt?
