To think reduced supermarket goods are for customers not staff?

I was in an upmarket supermarket chain today and a member of staff, in full uniform, had a trolley load of reduced packs of avocados. They're normally relatively expensive but I thought I'd get some since they were reduced. So I went to take one out the trolley and she literally blocked my arm with her hand, saying it was her own shopping. Surely if she wants to do her own shopping she shouldn't be doing it in company uniform? The stock is there for customers not staff!

Hang on.

So, despite your faux pas in assuming one packet of avocados in another customer's shopping was yours to take, and then you were corrected, and despite asking if people who also shop where they work shouldn't for some reason be treated as normal customers and receive the same benefits.....let's look at this from another angle....

.....I can get a 2-pack of ready to eat avocados for about £2 in my Joe-Bloggs supermarket.

I don't know the equivalent cost in an upmarket supermarket. But surely, given the laws of economics, not a huge percentage difference.

So even if there was an amazing 90% reduction, the amount which is causing you all this stress is somewhere around £1.50. Or even less.

I know budgets are tight. I know that. But causing yourself a whole internet's and probably a whole sidebar's load of stress, for the loss of £1.50, seems not the best course of action for self care.

That's not what she asked

He.

Not that it makes a difference!

Actually rephrase it
Aibu to have mistaken lady in shop in uniform pushing a trolley of avocados as the welder of the yellow gun rather than realising she was shopping herself?
