Nap rage!

Arrgghh!

DD2 (5 months) is moaning she is tired. Have put her in the pram and am rocking it in the hallway. She is moaning and thrashing and eye rubbing but won't go to sleep.

I fucking hate naps!!! I have never had a baby that didn't cry and moan and scream at nap time and I am fucking bored of it.

Either get up and stop grizzling or go the fuck to sleep.

I have shut the pram in the kitchen. WIBU to just leave her to it?

if anyone says put her in a sling I will vomit

At that age DS would only nap in my arms.
Can you cuddle her to sleep and take advantage of the sitting down time by sticking something on telly and putting your feet up?

Dread naps! Some days he'll go to sleep before I've even settled down to get him to sleep, others he'll smack me in the face, writhe around and scream - this sometimes results in sleep and other times he'll jump up and play happily as soon as I let him. I try and reason with him but then I realise he's 1 and he doesn't give a shit.

Naps are great, it's the babies who are wrong.

Most of us here would kill for the chance to have a lovely day time nap in a warm bed/cot/pram and there they are complaining.

Babies these days, don't know they're born.

I found with DD1 at that age the trick was going outside - something about the change of air would set off the sleep trigger. I lived in a house with a long driveway so would often still be in my pyjamas for the morning nap

If only mn had a like button three. You so right. My dd has not wanted to nap all day. Shes tried, she has a new nappy one, loads of warm milk in her tummy, been played with and has a very comfortable cot but no.....shh she has just gone down!!

If it's just grizzling, fidgeting and eye rubbing then leave her to it. DS3 needed to do this to get to sleep, any intervention resulted in screaming.
If she is full on screaming then I would go to her and do some sort of shush patting or cover eyes and see if that helps.

Dd napped this morning for 20 minutes in the pushchair, only after nearly an hour of trying everything else.

The she had 10 minutes at lunch time, despite being absolutely shattered. Tried again at 3 because she was grumpy as hell, she was having none of it. I've finally got her off about 4:30 and typically she's still asleep now.

I don't like her sleeping past 5 really because then she's likely to be up past her bedtime and it just messes her up. Especially as mil is baby sitting tonight and I'd rather everything went smoothly.

I hate naps.

And why do they always fall asleep when you have somewhere to go. Currently trying to persuade dd2 to have a power nap whilst cooking dd1 dinner. Is it too early for !

YANBU mine were nap dodging beasts too. Turns out DD1 had aspergers so that explains her poor sleeping. DD2 is just a pain in the arse. DD2 would sleep in the sling and later in the cars. I remember that dread of red lights as she would be wide awake again if we slowed down.

YANBU DS only naps on me or in the car or pram after a melt down that normally ends in screaming and hysteria. I feel like I spend my whole life trying to get him to nap. It drives me mad

Yanbu I'm right there with you. DS will ONLY sleep in the pram, in the house, and he always always puts up a fight.

Yy to "put baby in a sling". HE WON'T SLEEP IN A FUCKING SLING.

My little sod refused to nap all morning until he got to Baby Sensory class where he fell asleep lying on the floor while 15 other Mothers were singing and signing the 'Say hello to the bloody sun song!'

Feel your pain
I have a 4 month old doing this daily and fights sleep and when she does finally go to sleep it's for about 20 mins.
I've taken to driving around in the car today and got myself a drive thru McDonald's too I just thought fuck it
I'm. Bored of it too
My now 4 year old was exactly like this too and everyone said oh the next one won't be like it. Whatever. This ones probably worse

Nap refusers here too! DS would only sleep in the pram. Life was better when I accepted this and even better when I realised I didn't need to leave the house, I could trick him by pushing the pram in the hall and then stopping once he was asleep!

Dd is 10 weeks old and likes to sleep on me! Today she woke up everytime I put her down! She has been know to go all day with less than an hours sleep.

Also agree with the unfairness of getting two the same!

I have a friend who used to just lay her Dd down in the moses basket at nap time and the Dd would just fall asleep! Wtf!!
I want one of those babies!!

When she was that age DD would sleep in the sling, but only if I was basically running. So my sage advice when you're knackered is to go for a nice restful jog - just what you need!

I thought I had mastered nap time...have one of those babies (sorry chipmunk) that I lay in her bed and she gets herself to sleep. Felt very smug
But...how many days are we actually at home for all nap times? Hardly ever and she now won't nap anywhere else. I wish she would nap in the car or pram because whenever we are out she skips napping and is a tired mess.

Oh I had one of these and suspect the baby is one too.

DS does nap well now, but after literally days of shushing and patting and clock watching and black out blinds and white noise. God it was hideous!

The baby is 10 weeks will ONLY sleep in the sling (woohoo lucky me, I love lumping a baby round all fucking day long). She's going to be a total dose to get down in her own isn't she?!

Chipmunk, I have a friend who's DS goes to bed at 7 and sleeps through for 12 hours or more and then has 1 hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. DD is the same age (10 months) and does half an hour in the middle of the day and wakes up every couple of hours.

She says my DD makes her question having any more in case she gets one like mine.
