Nap rage!

Arrgghh!

DD2 (5 months) is moaning she is tired. Have put her in the pram and am rocking it in the hallway. She is moaning and thrashing and eye rubbing but won't go to sleep.

I fucking hate naps!!! I have never had a baby that didn't cry and moan and scream at nap time and I am fucking bored of it.

Either get up and stop grizzling or go the fuck to sleep.

I have shut the pram in the kitchen. WIBU to just leave her to it?

if anyone says put her in a sling I will vomit

I also really fucking hate naps. They are shit. As opposed to being fed to sleep and put in the cot DS has decided that he'll only sleep in the pram, outside, while moving, with a snooze shade on
8 cunting miles today.
WTAF. That's my life now. Hours of trudging in the fucking rain while I should be mumsnetting doing shit.
Not sure I can hack this. I need to go back to work and get DS to nursery.

Glittered · 07/10/2016 20:12

8 counting miles away I love that.
That made me lol
I only drive around today coz I'm so tired of all the walking.
Counting down my weeks back to work so she can go to nursery and be somebody else's problem for a few hours. But she will probably just go to sleep for them! Of course she will

MrsSparkles · 07/10/2016 20:30

I was vair vair skinny after DD1 with all the bloody walking, eyes would ping open as soon as I stopped. DD2 (when she does nap) likes to sleep on me - not doing so well with the baby weight second time round! However she does largely sleep through so it could be worse...

Rollonbedtime7pm · 07/10/2016 22:35

Oh dear, what are these babies doing to us poor mummies?!

YY to a previous poster - OK Baby Roll, wrap me in a fucking blanket, I'll sleep and you can do all the shit I need to be doing instead of bending over your cot, endlessly patting your arse, listening to Ewan the sodding Dream Sheep!! Confused

Thanks for your solidarity ladies - best of luck for your night times!! Grin

Blackfellpony · 08/10/2016 12:17

I hate nap time. Half an hour of screaming, eye rubbing, whining and then eventually we get 20mins of sleep and he's back Hmm

Rollonbedtime7pm · 08/10/2016 17:16

Same old story this afternoon - 1/2 hour since 11:30 this morning! Shock

God HELP us at bedtime!

I have the same problem. My DS is almost 5 months and he refuses to sleep. Once he's asleep he's fine, it's getting him to fall asleep that's the hard part.

If I have tried everything, and I mean literally everything, for example:

Nappy changed
Check he's not hungry
That it's not attention he wants

Then I will put him down in the carrycot and I will leave him to it. I will not pick him up. It's hard, but it works. Eventually he will fall asleep, but I have to take all the distractions away.

Obviously if he is still crying after ten mintues I will pick him up. But most of the time this is all I can do and it has worked.

Obviously, if he's over tired than its more difficult. Spotting the cues can be subtle.

Pombearsrunaway · 08/10/2016 18:09

Controlled crying worked brilliantly on my DS for bedtime. He self settles and sleeps happily in his cot all night long.

Will he do it for naps? Will he fuck.

stopgap · 08/10/2016 18:10

DS1 has silent reflux, so a nap would be after three miles of walking, with him in the Beco carrier, and lasted all of ten minutes. But at 18 months, suddenly he became the most incredible napper, and slept daily in the afternoon for two hours, sometimes three, right up to his fourth birthday. There's hope yet!

I love this thread, omg it's made my heart smile l thought l was the only one.

My dd rolls round the room crying like a Webble wobble that won't bloody go down.

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/10/2016 19:19

Ds is 14 months and will only nap in the pram. Occasionally in the car if I drive for about 40 minutes. How the feck I'm supposed to mange this winter in the shit weather and heavily pregnant I don't know.

Discobabe · 08/10/2016 19:23

My oldest was like this. One day I got out the dummy I'd got free with a magazine. She was asleep in seconds!!! A dummy came out every nap time from then. I always swore I'd NEVER use one Grin

SalemSaberhagen · 08/10/2016 19:30

Please tell me that was a joke, maxington!

Pombearsrunaway · 08/10/2016 19:46

Oh there's always one isn't there Grin
