Tayto Crisps

AIBU to think that DM/DF, DSibs should not steal my Tayto crisps. They are one of my few luxuries and due to my allergies their treats are left unmolested while mine are constantly raided. Anytime I raise this issue they either laugh it off or guilt trip me into "sharing" them (sharing normally goes both ways)

I live in NI and have to import real taytos from down south. They are a precious commodity. Your family are being completely U!

mathsmum314 · 03/10/2016 23:00

where can i buy them?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:01

Can you hide your supply?

ConsentImplied · 03/10/2016 23:01

Foxes Shock Shock
You've been fed the northern muck clearly

Nugget surely you have that the wrong way round. You live in NI, so you have access to the best Tayto and can export them to your southern friends.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:04

No Brand I just brought in 20 bags of proper tayto from Cavan last week. I'm from down below and none of my southern friends have any interest in yellow tayto!

Amalfimamma · 03/10/2016 23:04

The GFA won't be fecked because of Brexit but because of Tayto

Hmm
vvviola · 03/10/2016 23:05

My DMum used to send me a shoe box full of Tayto, Penguin bars and Lyons tea when I lived abroad (in out of the way places where there was no chance of getting any of them). Friends used to pay for bed and board in any of the above.

DH only asked to try my Taytos once. I did share my teabags with him though, but only because I had converted him from NZ dishwater teabags in the first place

FoxesOnSocks · 03/10/2016 23:05

I live in Dublin. Discounting bargain supermarket crisps they are the grimest crisps in the world. Though also not too fond of hunky dory.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:06

Nordie Tayto man is scary! He looks like a peanut.

The NI ones are gopping compared to the others. I grew up near the border and begged to go down for some proper Tayto.

Yellow Tayto have notions.

Brandnewiggi · 03/10/2016 23:10

Have done a quick check and so far on this thread we are 50/50 re northern or southern taytos (they aren't the same company to whoever wrote that - I believe the southern ones were first and the North licensed the brand from them but they operate completely separately.)
(I give my crisps a lot of thought)

ConsentImplied · 03/10/2016 23:10

Nugget - tried that time and time again and when I come home from work they have miraculously disappeared

CroissantwithCheese · 03/10/2016 23:11

King crisps for me

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:13

Ah there's always one Croissant

MissMoo22 · 03/10/2016 23:17

Northern Tayto are devine. Shoved into some lovely soft white, buttered bread. Yum. Southern are nice too but I just prefer the northern.

And Portrush rock....last time I bought some bars they were all soft :( wtf happened to them?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:20

I assume the preference is split according to posters' origins? I've never met a northerner that preferred southern tayto or vice versa.

badtime · 03/10/2016 23:21

Southern Tayto are rank. And the bags hurt my eyes. I mean, there is all the debate about Walkers using the wrong colours, but what the fuck?
The yellow makes sense, because cheese.

I just felt I should add that to the debate.

MissMoo22 · 03/10/2016 23:24

Nugget my DP loves the southern ones (we're from the North) but he's a weirdo.

pandarific · 03/10/2016 23:27

I am SO GLAD I found this thread. Now I know why the Taytos in Asda are all wrong!

Amalfimamma · 03/10/2016 23:27

they aren't the same company to whoever wrote that I stand corrected

but in my research to see who was right I found that Tayto, the real ones from the North, deliver to Italy so off I go to bulk order and I see they now do Vegetable Roll Flavour so I'm going to be brave

Amalfimamma · 03/10/2016 23:29

I've never met a northerner that preferred southern tayto or vice versa.

My dad.

But we live on the border so it's easy to hold of both.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 03/10/2016 23:29

Ah yes border people probably wildcards Smile

ConsentImplied · 03/10/2016 23:31

Even the picture of the northern version looks odd.

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 03/10/2016 23:31

I haven't had Tayto in many a long year (mournful face)

YABU for starting this thread and reminding me of that fact OP

Your family are very very unreasonable for eating them on you

Did anyone have the limited edition Tayto chocolate? I had some sent over!
