I treat myself to an electric blanket.

Now, I will clarify that I don't know what 'that age' is but I feel that my excitement over my new electric under blanket probably means I have reached it!

How did you reach 'that age'?

I have recently started making involuntary pirate noises when I get up from the sofa Sad

Topsy1976 · 03/10/2016 23:12

I have just bought a teasmade. I am very excited about it!

thissismyusername · 03/10/2016 23:12

I stick post-its on my lap top to remind me of things. DS thinks this hilarious.

littleshirleybeans · 03/10/2016 23:20

Sorry for not RTFT right now, but I have a mini electric blanket thingy which is for pain relief. I clench my jaw at night and the heat helps to relax and soothe the muscles. It also helps with my sinus pain. (I've got it going on Grin)
It's lovely, very comforting. Problem is, I live in my own micro-climate at the best of times so the continuous heat all night doesn't do much for my hair! (Think back of neck sweating- yuk) I have to wash it every morning now!
However, it does help with the pain Smile
I'm almost 48. Gawd help me when I do reach the menopause.

RuggerHug · 03/10/2016 23:35

I heat enthusiastic youths speak of their happiness and plans and I think 'n'yaaaaaw.Smile they know nothing of pain yet'. I also use the term 'youths'.

RuggerHug · 03/10/2016 23:36

Hear, HEAR! I don't heat them!

Boneyjoany · 03/10/2016 23:44

I've started lusting after caravans. I wear comfy knickers and flat shoes. For the last two years I've treated myself to Christmas oven gloves.

I'm 45. I used to do wild, wild shit. And I don't mean non-matching Denby. What's become of me?Sad

Boneyjoany · 04/10/2016 00:26

And now I kill threads!Sad

Manumission · 04/10/2016 00:37

Oh I don't know. Someone here (CatThief?) bought a camper not long ago. I think they have rock 'n' roll possibilities Grin I want one, anyway.

Beautifullymixed · 04/10/2016 01:03

This thread GrinGrin

I'm dating at the moment, and fleetingly thought of wearing a thong, or maybe dressing up a bit. Nope, can't do it. It's comfy knickers all the way - and he can take it or leave it! Wink

I also plan how soon I can get to my bed whenever I venture out. Especially with said electric blanket calling me.
My dear mother stayed with me over the summer, and commented how much I love laying in my bed.
I thought you ain't seen nothing yet! Grin

WiltingTulip · 04/10/2016 01:27

a young girl was eyeing up my special trolley bag. I think she was impressed

Best yet!!!

I was going to ask if enjoying those tv murder mysteries came with age... But averagegaylad beat me to it and he's less than half my age!

oldlaundbooth · 04/10/2016 01:50

I am looking forward to going shopping for Christmas cake ingredients. Not even making the bloody thing. Shopping for sultanas and cherries and shit.

oldlaundbooth · 04/10/2016 01:53

This is my username I do the post it thing too. It usually says 'add spinach' on it and is next the cooker wild child alert

Postchildrenpregranny · 04/10/2016 10:48

Driving home from a (lovely)wedding on Sat where the wine had flowed freely. Friend and I agreeing that what we actually wanted now was 'a nice cup of tea'.
Which we duly drank while carrying out the 'post mortem'(knowing it was a mistake, as we would have to get up for a wee in the night . .)

GinAndTunic · 04/10/2016 10:58

Threads like this are why I love Mumsnet: I can both laugh and identify with the comments.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 04/10/2016 11:06

I've decided in the last few days that cups of tea made with loose leaf tea rather than bags are so superior that I'm a convertconvert forever. Currently hunting out tea cosies and tea strainers on Tinterweb.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 04/10/2016 11:07

Two x converts? Why, phone?

foxychox · 04/10/2016 11:11

i bought some K shoes, not Clarks as they are still pretty trendy, but K.....LOVE them!

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 04/10/2016 11:27

I am nearly 37 and have got back into cycling. I'm about to buy (an admittedly very cheap in the overall scheme of things, but expensive to me) road bike and Lycra galore. Is this my midlife crisis?

If so, I can probably live with it. Less humiliating as expensive than an affair, tattoo or sports car. My wife is also a keen (and far better) cyclist than me, spit something we can do together. In fact I can see us morphing into Howard and Marina from Last of the Summer Wine.

minipie · 04/10/2016 11:39

I won't wear uncomfortable shoes or underwear no matter how attractive

When it rains I think, ooh good the garden really needs it

A night out ends at 11pm if not before

pamish · 04/10/2016 12:33

I don't heat my bedroom, I heat my bed. 40 watts for an hour or so vs. heating a load of air which flows away in seconds as you open the door. No contest. Been doing this forever.

poppym12 · 04/10/2016 12:49

I took my parents to do their shopping this morning. I saw a lady I recognised from a couple of years below me at school with her GRANDCHILD.
What the...... My mathematical calculations made me realise that biologically and legally, I'm a gnats fart away from being great granny age.

yolofish · 04/10/2016 13:06

need to ask all you electric blanket lovers - dont the cable-y things, the heating wires, really annoy you? we've tried them a couple of times (cold bedroom, illfitting windows etc) but DH and I are obviously the princess and the pea types...

petitfromage · 04/10/2016 13:10

When I start coverting the Per Una range in M & S.

I'm definitely still a Limited girl (admittedly in her mid 40s but I'm not giving in gracefully yet)

Poppypoochinachristmascracker · 04/10/2016 13:18

Petit Per Una have some nice things ☕️
