And why would you vote that way? For you, do you vote for your party or for your local MP?

I am a Corbyn supporter but dislike my local MP for resigning from the front bench. Shame, because she's actually quite a good MP otherwise. I would probably still vote for her to get Labour into power but otherwise I would vote for the Greens.

Rorty As a left Brexiter I agree.

YokoUhOh · 02/10/2016 16:56

I have no idea. I'm hoping the pro-Europe wing of the Tory Party form an Alliance with Lib Dem and disillusioned Labour MPs, and we get an anti-Brexit option.

I'm a lifelong Labour voter and quite socialist but can't support Corbyn. I actually voted him in as my local MP a number of times, but he's not the person to lead the Labour Party.

Lordamighty · 02/10/2016 16:57

Labour, because I love our Dear Leader Jeremy**

**Not really but that is the only answer the OP wants to hear.

dinosaursarebisexual · 02/10/2016 16:59

Wheel No brexiters I know bought into the media bullshit.

YokoUhOh · 02/10/2016 17:02

I believe that the Brexit camp were hoping to win due to people's ignorance regarding the role and powers of the EU and its institutions, wheel. Ask the man on the street what sovereignty actually is, and where power actually lies, and they won't have a fucking clue.

Before the 2015 General Election, I'd've put Europe last on my list of concerns. Now it's first.

AriettaLovesXitiePie · 02/10/2016 17:03

I vote for party over local candidate, but luckily I know and like my local candidate anyway as I'm a party member and help him (and the party) out with campaigning etc whenever I can.
I've said TM 4 PM forever. I'd not only vote May but do everything I could to help her win.
Now I'll go and hide behind something to avoid the incoming rotten eggs launched my way now I've outed myself as a Tory Wink

moreslackthanslick · 02/10/2016 17:05

Conservative even though I also live in a "red rosette on a pig" area. I believe in most of their values and no OP, I don't hate disabled people either.

I wasn't impressed with their turnaround on the reforms to tax credits though but pleased that some changes are coming in next year.

BakewellTartAgain · 02/10/2016 17:06

OP I could rip into you for being a Corbyn supporter - I am passionate on this subject- but won't.

Don't ask for peoples opinion and then harangue them for it; It's not on.

WheelofPan · 02/10/2016 17:09

dino - it wasn't media bullshit - it was Brexiteer's bull shit. And we are going to be a 'smaller nation' for it.

BakewellTartAgain · 02/10/2016 17:11

Scottish social attitudes surveys are broadly similar to rest of UK. SNP have powers to raise taxation but have not. Indeed they always seem to run on a promise to freeze Council Tax which I personally would like to see increased.

Most of the SNP members I know are far from left wing, they are however nationalists.

Yawnyawnallday · 02/10/2016 17:12

Labour house , Labour family. Corbin is a liability so, as good as my local MP is, Not Labour. I'm in a so-called safe Labour constituency.
JC has been playing at rebellion all his safe job life. He gives comfort to anti semites and Militant idiots (which is what Momentum are).

Pettywoman · 02/10/2016 17:19

I'm a staunch Labour supporter so would probably vote for them although reluctantly. I'd never vote SNP but am tempted by the Lib Dems but I think that would be a wasted vote.

Keeptrudging · 02/10/2016 17:21

I vote SNP, am left/liberal, but the only way we're going to get strong labour or lib dem parties again will be if we get independence, at which point I may vote for them again depending on policies.

Dapplegrey1 · 02/10/2016 17:22

Keeptrudging - if a politician was held accountable every time they told a lie, then they wouldn't get any work done. They'd all be standing in a very long queue waiting to be held to account.
None of them would be at their desks or out and about in their constituency.

Dapplegrey1 · 02/10/2016 17:24

Op did you post this thread so you could attack anyone who admitted to voting Tory?

LittleHoHum · 02/10/2016 17:25

No idea. Floating voter in a very marginal constituency.

So far I have eliminated Labour (too far left now) and UKIP (too far right). Everyone else is in the running.

jessica29054 · 02/10/2016 17:25

I think that might be the case.

Didn't OP post a thread about thatcher yesterday?

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 17:31

Dapplegrey1

No, I posted it to see what people think of the politicians we have now seeing as there's been so much change since the last election.

jessica29054

Yes, I did post a thread about Thatcher. I don't hate everyone who votes Tory - I'm sure I'm friends with plenty of them. I just want to know why people vote for different parties and if they vote for the MP or the party as a whole.

OP posts:
SusanneLinder · 02/10/2016 17:33

SNP....After Brexit, if negotiations don't go well, I see no choice but to eventually to go for Independence. We are going to be stuck with the Tories for years, Labour pretty useless ( especially in Scotland), and I wont forgive the LibDems for u turning on most things , just to get into power.

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 17:34

BakewellTartAgain

To be fair, I've not really harangued anyone. I only asked one person who was going on about how much they love the Tories why they feel that way when they have done so much hurt. I would ask the same question if somebody told me they thought Tony Blair was a God.

I'm just genuinely interested because I don't think some people see the full effects of the policies they implement. Which is fine, obviously, as I don't see the effects of some of their policies either.

OP posts:
BakewellTartAgain · 02/10/2016 17:37

I was being as fair as possible. To be fair.

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 17:38

LordAmighty

I understand not everybody's pro-Corbyn. I am supportive of that and I'm glad people feel like they can express that opinion. I just wish the MPs would stop wittering on about him being leader - they either need to get behind him or get out of the party. Plenty of people disliked Ed Miliband, Brown and Blair, but the party were united behind them because they thought it was better to fight the Tories than each other.

Sadly, it seems like most of the vocal MPs don't really care about fighting the Tories, they just want to be in control themselves.

I didn't really like Ed Miliband but I supported him and wish he'd stayed on as I do think he was very electable.

OP posts:
ClaudiaApfelstrudel · 02/10/2016 17:43

I'd vote for Jeremy Corbyn, although I'd be tempted by the Lib Dems if they had a strong anti-brexit stance.

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 17:43

AriettaLovesXtiePie

Do you like Mrs. May as a person or is it a case of your/her views aligning as well as your political allegiance? I'm just interested as there's quite a few Tories I could see myself voting for like Alan Duncan or Ed Vaizey and I know there are Tories who like some Labour politicians (people like Frank Field are generally well liked by the Tories).

OP posts:
Shannaratiger · 02/10/2016 17:46

Not Conservative or Labour. Will do careful research this time before voting.
