And why would you vote that way? For you, do you vote for your party or for your local MP?

I am a Corbyn supporter but dislike my local MP for resigning from the front bench. Shame, because she's actually quite a good MP otherwise. I would probably still vote for her to get Labour into power but otherwise I would vote for the Greens.

I have always voted Tory before but never will again because of the referendum. It was a question that never should have been put to the public in my opinion and showed the party's interest/political ambition of its MPs as more important than the national interest. Wankers. I've also finally thought about how I feel about matters rather than being an echo of my family (black sheep desperate to fit with them) and realised I'm somewhat more liberal than I thought.

I won't vote Labour whilst it's on its momentum path, and also our MP is a rabid Brexiter, so I suspect it'll be Lib Dem this time. I just wish there was a credible party who want to do good for everyone rather than represent a tiny sector of society.

GraceGrape · 02/10/2016 15:28

Nakatomi, I am a leftie and have voted labour in the past. I was very happy when Corbyn was elected and hoped for some real change. I've been extremely disappointed in him. He seems to focus purely on issues that matter to him personally (Cuba etc) rather than matters that affect the country as a whole. I've also heard that he is extremely difficult to work with and has no time to listen to the views of other Labour MPs who aren't in his circle. Also, John McDonnell seems to exert a worrying amount of influence over him, and I cannot stand McDonnell. I just can't imagine him being an effective PM.

LittleLionMansMummy · 02/10/2016 15:31

Lifelong Labour supporter here. Would vote Lib Dem or Green - whoever had a clear policy on remaining in the EU. I don't like Corbyn anyway though.

Cherryskypie · 02/10/2016 15:32

They won't but in some ways I wish the Tories would call an early election. The only way to get through to Corbyn supporters quite how unelectable he is would be to actually show them Labour being trounced. I expect they'd find excuses explanations for that too.

Realhousewivesofshit · 02/10/2016 15:33

No Corbyn has the support of his supporters which is lovely for him however he will not get the support of the country.

gillybeanz · 02/10/2016 15:35

labour in a National, don't bother for local as we are labour in our area and will never be anything else.

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 15:36

Lightsoffplease

They don't but the Blairites in the party think that the way you win elections is by moving to the centre or more to the right.

This is untrue obviously, as most people vote based on policies and not left/right politics. The only reason New Labour won is because the Tories failed to do any modernising at all and they had a run of really awful leaders like John Major, Hague, IDS and Howard. It was nothing due to with New Labour moving to the centre, they probably would've won on a traditional Labour platform.

gillybeanz · 02/10/2016 15:36

I didn't know it was possible for us to stay in the EU, who would have a plan for this when it can't happen Confused

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 02/10/2016 15:37

Lib dem probably but I'm massively disenfranchised and my constituency has been Tory since time began so it's all fucking pointless me voting

Labour have made a right show of themselves since the referendum so until they can prove themselves to be an effective party with cohesive ideas they're not getting a vote from me.

littleprincesssara · 02/10/2016 15:40

Labour.

RortyCrankle · 02/10/2016 15:41

I'm a Conservative voter and am really hoping Theresa May calls an early election. With Labour in such disarray and being led by the unelectable, the Government would undoubtably increase their majority for the next five years and beyond Smile

fedupoftrying · 02/10/2016 15:42

Ex Labour voters who will not be voting labour --What's the issue with Corbyn? Is it his policies eg regarding Trident or do people prefer a more aggressive approach to leadership?

WheelofPan · 02/10/2016 15:43

Labour, despite Corbyn. Too many evidences against him to be anything like a reasonable PM.

Cherryskypie · 02/10/2016 15:44

'It was nothing due to with New Labour moving to the centre, they probably would've won on a traditional Labour platform.'

Grin Ah revisionist history at it's best.

Nakatomi · 02/10/2016 15:45

RortyCrankle

Why Tory? Do you think it's good that disabled people are having £30 a week taken off them? Or the continuing effects of the bedroom tax? Just wondering. I genuinely don't know how anyone can rationalise their treatment of the poorest in society.

Summerholsdoingmyheadin · 02/10/2016 15:47

I don't think labour need to move to the centre I just dislike Corbyn. Anybody who appoints Diane abbot to a shadow cabinet position can't be taken seriously IMO.

sonlypuppyfat · 02/10/2016 15:48

Life long labour it would be UKIP now

LittleLionMansMummy · 02/10/2016 15:48

gillybeanz the referendum is not legally binding, but advisory. Therefore technically it is still possible to stay in, providing a political party stood on a platform of staying in. Who knows, we could yet see the rise of a new party which is essentially an Anti-UKIP party, comprising disillusioned people from across the political spectrum.

NameChanger22 · 02/10/2016 15:50

I would vote Labour with or without Corbyn because they're the only hope of keeping the Tories out. I've only ever voted Labour for this reason alone. I disagree with Corbyn on quite a few things, but I still quite like him. I would prefer a Labour government that didn't trigger Article 50 and stayed in the EU. My heart is really with the Green Party, but they're a waste of a vote unfortunately.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 02/10/2016 15:51

Labour but as Raptor says I'm disenfranchised by living in a True Blue seat where more than 50% of the votes cast are Conservative.

Sandsnake · 02/10/2016 15:52

Probably Lib Dem. Thinking about it - definitely Lib Dem.

HermioneWeasley · 02/10/2016 15:54

For labour to win, they have to win over voters who at th last election voted conservative. They are unlikely to do that with more left wing policies - they need to be more centrist.

New labour won because the conservatives were a shambles at the time, but also because they moved far enough to centre to convince life long Tory voters that they were worth a chance.

Britain is a very centrist country - labour can't win on a socialist platform.

madgerussell1920 · 02/10/2016 15:57

Tactical vote to prevent Brexit.
Not that I have a lot of faith anything would but would consider voting for the devil if he opposed Brexit.
Lib Dems would really be my choice but don't think they would have a chance if an election is called soon.

Realhousewivesofshit · 02/10/2016 15:57

Cherry yes agree with your post there. If only we could get rid now before we loose the vast majority of labour voters to Tory for ever.

RortyCrankle · 02/10/2016 15:59

Well OP, it so happens that I am one of the poorest in society and have been disabled for many years. The Conservatives being in Government have not impacted negatively on my life, financially or otherwise, despite left-wingers desperately insisting otherwise.

The bedroom tax doesn't seem unreasonable to me - why should families in need of more bedrooms be kept on an endless waiting list while those who have excess rooms selfishly refuse to move? They have the choice - move or pay.
