To be more careful about the titles they list in the Mumsnet Talk 'Discussions of the day' box to the right of the threads?

For example today there is listed a (partial) title which reads Woman simulates sex with headless baby...

I've seen other inappropriate titles in the past, which you might not want your dc to see. You can avoid clicking on threads with dubious titles, but you can't do anything about this. Surely there could be some judicious editing?

... this isn't a website for children, I can't think of another website which would self edit to that extent tbh.

Yep have to agree mumsnet is no place for the faint heated and definatly not for kids.

No, I appreciate that, but it is a website which is frequented by many people who have children around, and unless you are completely secretive about Mumsnetting, it is more than likely that a child might catch sight of the screen at some point.

Some usernames are enough to have me hiding my screen, but yeah, that was a most unfortunate truncation

It's not MNs job to regulate their chat boards just in case a child should see it.

Children don't dictate the world. Mumsnet after they are in bed or tell them it's mummy screen time and they can't join in. If they are old enough to read they are old enough to understand that adults can have access to screen time that they are not allowed to see.

My youngest is 12. I can't pack him off to bed at 7.30, so I can browse MN, but I still don't particularly want him to see titles such as the one I mentioned!

I'm not asking them to regulate the chat boards. It's specifically the Trending/Discussions box which is present at the top whichever topic/thread you are on.

I teach my DC to do be rude and look over my shoulder or look at what I am doing in the computer.

AFAIK the 'Trending' thing is automated.

Obviously it's going to throw up the odd blooper every now and then.

If your kids are old enough to read, you should be more careful about what they have access to, even if it is just because they've walked through the room or something.
