They're at it again (see previous 1000000 posts) or quick reminder I have 5 month old twins and my neighbours think they own our road and are getting sweet revenge on me for legally parking on the unrestricted public highway --which they think they own.

He's a shit of the highest order.

What will happen if you ostentatiously take pictures of his car?

PatMullins · 30/09/2016 21:19

C'mon OP give us a clue Wink

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 30/09/2016 21:20

he's drunk too much to move it tonight

If he really does drink that much in the evening, he might not even be fit to drive at all move it in the morning Hmm Just saying.

RebootYourEngine · 30/09/2016 21:20

If you want to stay where you are you need to be pro-active. Park across your drive. Phone the police everytime they are a nuisance. Keep a diary. Take photos. Hand on horn. Clamp them.

Do not let them treat you like shit.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 30/09/2016 21:21

Wouldn't it be terrible if your username was the same as his business name op? Wink

Champagneformyrealfriends · 30/09/2016 21:23

Also my suggestion on your last thread may have gone unnoticed (busy thread!) but if you phone 101 and tell them that the owner of that vehicle tried to sell you drugs they'll get pulled over all the time. But of course you'd never do that. Grin

c3pu · 30/09/2016 21:24

Past an A4 sheet of paper on the driver's side of the windscreen that says "please don't obstruct my driveway"

Paste it in so he has to spend 10 minutes scraping it off. Repeat each time her parks over your driveway.

FruitCider · 30/09/2016 21:25

I once put my neighbours car on bricks after they blocked me in... They never did it again! I highly recommend it Wink

bigbluebus · 30/09/2016 21:25

champagne you are wicked a genious Grin

FledglingFTB · 30/09/2016 21:25

Every time they do it, calmly and clearly walk out of your house and take photographs. Each side of the car, in situ. That'll worry them.

And If they kick off, stay calm and document it. Even if it's jut a voice recording with your phone in your hand where it's not obvious.

You've done nothing wrong.

Waffles80 · 30/09/2016 21:26

Absolutely agree with Reboot. Don't give him space to park in.

Champagne your suggestion is really stupid. Sure OP won't be so idiotic as to do anything illegal, or anything that would provoke counter claims of harassment.

WindInThePussyWillows · 30/09/2016 21:28

Champagne it didn't go unnoticed DH and I had such a giggle over it but I'm way too soft a complete pussy to do anything more than a complaint email to letting agent and phone call to 101! Blush

If I stand outside taking obvious photos they laugh at me.

HmmmmBop · 30/09/2016 21:28

Can you upload to Twitter with the hashtag parks like a cunt every time they do it?

Champagneformyrealfriends · 30/09/2016 21:28

Hey I said she'd never do it Grin

Masketti · 30/09/2016 21:29

There's no sensible person who thinks parking like that isn't being an inconsiderate twat.

Sorry to hear the H bar suggestion isn't viable. Do you think the neighbours will know it's not enforceable? It would certainly show harassment if they choose to park there despite the H bar.

FledglingFTB · 30/09/2016 21:30

Okay, stuff it! Just let down their tiresGrin

Champagneformyrealfriends · 30/09/2016 21:30

To be fair I'd probably never do it either (can't speak for DH though) but we have the nicest neighbours in the world. Jokes aside op you have my sympathy.

toomanypasswords · 30/09/2016 21:30

Have a look at this.

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/discrimination/taking-action-about-discrimination/taking-action-about-harassment/

I think you could argue that this qualifies.

Waffles80 · 30/09/2016 21:30

So what can you legally do to stop them parking there?

Youarenotprepared · 30/09/2016 21:30

I think it classes as a form of harrassment. I would log every instance of stupid parking, every instance of abuse, every instance of shouting at you and making you feel intimidated. Then go to police with it all. Encourage your neighbours to do so as well (but independently of you, this is important) as then they will hopefully see it's a pattern of one asshole family basically harrassing and intimidating the whole street.

WindInThePussyWillows · 30/09/2016 21:32

Email about H bar from council

Access protection markings are single white lines painted on the tarmac in front of driveways and other accesses. They are unenforceable 'courtesy' markings.
A standard access protection marking covers from drop kerb to drop kerb only as illustrated.
Cost and payment
£182.70, if the application is approved. Further charges will be made for future maintenance (if requested). Please do not send payment with this form - you will be contacted for payment if your application is successful.
Requirements for approval

  • County Council has established a set of guidelines through which all requests for the provision of an Access Protection Marking outside private properties will be assessed.
    1. Deter vehicles from parking across an entrance to off-street premises, or where the kerb is dropped to provide a convenient crossing place for pedestrians
    2. Only be used in conjunction with a dropped kerb and is only advisory
    3. Only to be used where establishments such as public houses, hotels, schools, sports grounds, churches etc. generate an excessive amount of on-street parking
    4. An access protection marking is not a standard road marking requirement for the County Council to provide for private accesses, therefore all costs for this line must be met by the applicant including ongoing maintenance
    5. At other locations where the problem of inconsiderate parking by neighbours exists, obstructions on the highway are the responsibility of the Local Police Unit. If your request does not meet the above requirements your application will not be approved. Application • Download an application form [266kb]b]_ • and fill in all required information • Return it to us by emailil_ or in the post • If the application is successful, we will write to you requesting payment

Please get a mate to do a Facebook "parked like a twat" post on one of those local pages. Then you can be like ¯\(ツ)/¯ when they confront you about it Grin

The good thing about you renting/them owning is that when they inevitably fall out big style with one of the neighbours they'll have to declare it when they try to sell the house, whereas you can walk away.

Can't believe the po-po won't do anything though. I thought it was illegal to block someone's access to the public highway?

GlitteryFluff · 30/09/2016 21:33

Im with reboot.
Record it all.
I'd log harassment with police.
You're being bullied and harassed by your neighbour.

ShebaShimmyShake · 30/09/2016 21:34

Contact the Fail with pics and full details and tell them it's a MN thread.

galaxygirl45 · 30/09/2016 21:34

Rather than using your drive, can you park as they have across it?? Or can you park on the road, less than ideal with kids I know but if you're parked across your drive, at least he can't block you in?? Put an end to his lovely little game - I feel so angry on your behalf, what an asshole.
