Mine's the bloody "In The Night Garden" intro. Every bloody night.

OP posts:
Shockers · 30/09/2016 08:09

I cried at the opening credits of Swallows and Amazons a few weeks ago... No idea why.

I get damp eyed when the children in my class are really kind, or do something that I know has challenged them, but they manage it.

Books- The Selfish Giant; Puff the Magic Dragon; The Story of Gelert.

neonrainbow · 30/09/2016 08:11

The lloyds advert with the horses through the ages ending with a disabled lady getting herself onto her horse and going for a good gallop. I know how free it feels ams must be even more so if you're confined to a wheelchair.

Anything where an animal gets hurt or dies in a tv show or film. It happened last night and i had to make sure dh didn't see i was blubbing.

Wreck it Ralph where he wrecks her car. Sad

Ditto the opening of the lion king stage show.

When i see character people being kind to very young children at disneyland and the child believes its real.

Shockers · 30/09/2016 08:11

*manage to achieve it

Aldilogue · 30/09/2016 08:13

I'm reading this and laughing at the ridiculousness of myself.

Mine are Bright Eyes by Simon and Garfunkel
Theme from In the Night Garden
One born every minute
Puff The Magic Dragon ( which was the theme song for kinder concert. Cried, was very embarrassing.) Blush

notfromstepford · 30/09/2016 08:43

Since having children I cry at everything - having never been a cryer before it's tough!
Christmas carols sung by children - esp Away in a Manger
Toy Story 3
The bit in Big Hero 6 when the brother dies
Undercover boss, One born every minute - anything like that
When my 4.5 year old DS tells his baby brother that "I'll always be here - don't worry - I'll always be here for you - I love you more than anything"
Writing the above
Reading this thread

The list is bloody endless - I think I need to toughen up!

Hearing Away in a Manger - I only have to hear the name of the song and I tear up. My three week old was seriously ill over Xmas and it looked like we were going to lose him. I was holding him and it was on the radio and I remember sobbing my heart out.

And yes - John Lewis ads at Xmas. Last year my 3yo said 'he's sad because he has no friends or anyone to give him a cuddle' - that was it. I was a bg crying mess!

MyGodLikeChin · 30/09/2016 09:59

My irrational crying was when I was pregnant with my first and there was an advert for Mentos with flamingos (I think) & it was set to the song No Limits. It was so shit I remember feeling so embarrassed on behalf of whoever had thought of and made it I cried every time.

MyGodLikeChin · 30/09/2016 10:02

A lot of what has been posted on here don't seem irrational to me, hope my previous post doesn't appear flippant.

CoconutAmericano · 30/09/2016 10:02

the song 'lot it go ' in frozen when she says she'll 'rise like the break of dawn'. I don't know why but I get a lump in my throat when I hear it

Swirlysunshine · 30/09/2016 10:08

Why do you think children singing makes so many of us cry? I cry as assemblies etc and often wonder what my problem is!

bruffin · 30/09/2016 10:12

I think it's because they sound so innocent

Diddlydokey · 30/09/2016 10:12

When they're good in an X factor audition. This amuses DH greatly.

charlybs · 30/09/2016 10:17

Everything, I'm pregnant

Gardenbirdy · 30/09/2016 11:21

The bit in the simpsons when homer covers the sign at work saying "don't forget you're here forever" with photos of Maggie so it reads "do it for her" (welling up now ffs!)

Gardenbirdy · 30/09/2016 11:23

And Stickman. Every time. That poor little guy goes through so much.

HateSummer · 30/09/2016 11:25

GBBO. Ever since I started watching whilst pregnant with dc3. I cry almost every episode. I don't know why! I was happy Rav left this week but I still cried Confused.

Gingermum · 30/09/2016 14:14

Oysterbabe - I LOVED Meerkat Manor. Bill Nighy's sardonic but tender voiceover was so warm too.

Walking in a country cemetery and seeing a tiny headstone which read: 'Sleep little one. May jolly angels guard your cradle.'

The Barnado's Ad which shows so well the cycle of neglect and abuse that leads young people to commit crime. A teenage girl is smacking someone about - she's shoved into jail - we see her stepfather hitting her round the head and calling her a 'useless cow'. Makes my eyes sting.

The moment when the late Harry Patch (only living soldier from WW1 then) went up to the cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday and insisted on laying a wreath for the Germans alongside the English because 'they suffered just as much as we did.'

LouBlue1507 · 30/09/2016 14:20

When I've spent ages perfecting my untameable ponytail and my hair bobble fucking snaps!!
Floods of tears and tantrums!

Wordsaremything · 30/09/2016 14:45

In a good way

Northern brass bands
Welsh Male Voice Choirs
The Dogs Trust advert with the lonely scrufty dog with his little knitted man. Am welling up now.
Lots of classical pieces but most of all the In Paradisum from Faure's Requiem

In a setting teeth on edge way:

Sorry to say this but - children singing anything, but especially carols. Grates on my ears painfully as it's hardly ever in tune. Sit there trying not to wince.

Yankeetarts · 30/09/2016 14:50

'When We Were Young' by Adele. Tears every single time.

WombatChocolate · 30/09/2016 17:58

One Born Every Minute - every birth makes me cry

Hearing joyous news - that friends who have been unhappily single for years are engaged, or those who've tried to have a baby for 10 yea are having one.

Being out at the shops with my 6 year old DD who takes a book and sits in the corner of the shop because she just loves to read.

mmgirish · 30/09/2016 18:25

X factor - every week! I just gets me.
