My throat is burning right now. I was just in the GP yesterday, and she didn't notice it! It was starting to hurt yesterday but we both thought i was just reflux.

goose1964 · 22/09/2016 21:10

Salt and vinegar crisps, they scratch the irrigation and the salt seems to soothe, but , I get itchy sore throats

toast- lovely scratchy when it goes down. they recommend it after tonsiletcomy (sp) as it clears all the crap.

Pettywoman · 22/09/2016 21:11

Grapefruit juice. It stings a sore throat but in a good way.

AmeliaJack · 22/09/2016 21:12

Marshmallows

CalmItKermitt · 22/09/2016 21:16

Hot - both temp and spicewise- curry.

c3pu · 22/09/2016 21:18

Fish fingers!

WhooooAmI24601 · 22/09/2016 21:19

Pineapple juice is brilliant for sore throats as it's got something magical in which soothes them. Frozen into lollies is even better.

Peppermint tea or hot water with lemon and honey is lovely, too.

NoFuchsGiven · 22/09/2016 21:23

When I was in hospital having my tonsils out, after the operation I was only offered toast. This was in 1989 but apparently that is the best thing to take the itch away.

It does actually work for a tickly throat but for a burning throat I would suggest really cold jelly or vodka just to knock you out

Hope you are feeling better soon.

jayho · 22/09/2016 21:28

I suffered from horrendous tonsillitis as a child, my house mistress (boarder) made me eat dry toast. I thought she was a cab but seems it is a thing

jayho · 22/09/2016 21:28

Cow, not cab 😂

HerFaceIsAMapOfTheWorld · 22/09/2016 21:29

water

Babymamamama · 22/09/2016 21:32

Chopped up fresh pineapple. Full of vitamins and seems a bit anti bacterial.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 22/09/2016 21:35

Yabu. Put it in Chat.

twinkletash · 22/09/2016 21:38

As hot as you can bear it tea. The only thing that I find works, and I don't really drink tea any other time.

CoolToned · 22/09/2016 22:06

twinkletash - what kind of tea do you drink?

French bread, big chunks so it scratches all the way down. I find dairy the worst thing ever, coats my throat and gives me phlegm

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 22/09/2016 23:08

Toast followed by mint magnums.

I crave mint magnums when I have a cold.

CoolToned · 25/09/2016 19:47

I am still sick. Throat pain, mild fever, dry cough, submandibular gland is inflammed...I am weirdly craving for biscuits right now - and I don't really eat biscuits.

Chicken and vermicelli soup or lentil soup.
