My throat is burning right now. I was just in the GP yesterday, and she didn't notice it! It was starting to hurt yesterday but we both thought i was just reflux.

McDonalds chocolate milkshake. Failing that, ice cream. A glass of milk also works wonders but not quite so delicious.

janethegirl2 · 21/09/2016 21:48

Cointreau with ice is good for a sore throat, but it is quite addictive as it's just so good Smile

ApocalypseSlough · 21/09/2016 21:49

Tea. Gallons and gallons of tea. It's the only time I don't have flagons and flagons of coffee. Definitely nothing milky.

RunningLulu · 21/09/2016 21:49

A bite of ice-cream followed by a sip of hot tea until both are finished.

justilou · 21/09/2016 21:50

I'd avoid dairy as I find it makes my throat all "gluggy" - produces more mucus, I think. Lemon juice and honey (whiskey optional) in hot water, cups of tea and paracetamol help. (Boring, I know.... but the hot drinks bring the circulation to the area and help clean up the inflammation faster) Hope you feel better!!!

Champagneformyrealfriends · 21/09/2016 21:50

Hot water. Literally that's it. And painkillers. Hope you feel better Flowers

ClashCityRocker · 21/09/2016 21:50

Came to post McDonalds milkshake too.

Lived on them when I had tonsillitis.

Guinness is good too. And has lots of vitamins.

Tanfastic · 21/09/2016 21:57

Iced water or anything really really cold.

MrsderPunkt · 21/09/2016 21:57

Something scratchy like crisps or cornflakes, and coke - proper red label coke at room temperature.

Tanfastic · 21/09/2016 21:57

Sorry just realised you said food Confused

roseteapot101 · 21/09/2016 21:59

pulled pork is good ,i cook a pork shoulder in 250ml chicken stock and a onion for low 10hrs in the slow cooker

take it all out, return just the meat shred and add plenty of the meat juices till a bit sloppy. This in a fresh soft bread roll easy to eat

tea is also good

WristBoundLatexBitch · 21/09/2016 22:01

Cupasoup

OliviaStabler · 21/09/2016 22:01

No food, just a glass of wine and Night Nurse.

Bliss

CoolToned · 21/09/2016 22:04

Food and drink, too :)

I do the alternating tea and ice cream thing too. Has to be plain vanilla ice cream - anything fruity stings. And gargle soluble aspirin then swallow (not a food but really helps!)

applecatchers36 · 21/09/2016 22:08

Lentil, lemon and cumin soup
Lemon and honey and hot water to drink

Domino20 · 21/09/2016 22:09

Hot and spicy soup from the Chinese.

Snowfedup · 21/09/2016 22:13

Melted chocolate (zapped in microwave and eaten with a spoon) Any type but especially milky bar white chocolate.

spankhurst · 21/09/2016 22:16

No dairy, makes mucus thicker. I make easy chicken soup with stock cube, pinch of ginger and chilli powder, bit of garlic, maybe some noodles.

CoolToned · 22/09/2016 19:55

How about toast? I'm weirdly craving for toast.

Yesterday all I ate was chicken soup and ginger tea.

This may sound counterintuitive, but pineapple juice is amazingly soothing when you have a sore throat. You need to keep your fluid intake up and PJ will really help. Hope you feel better soon.

JudgyMcJudgypants · 22/09/2016 20:14

Crab and sweetcorn soup from the local Chinese, REALLY hot. I nuke it in the microwave. Absolutely no dairy.

Willow2016 · 22/09/2016 20:52

Ice poles from the freezer, the kids flavoured ones. So refreshing, somehow easier than trying to swallow cold drinks, but also cools the throat.

SabineUndine · 22/09/2016 20:55

Tea with a slice of lemon in, and tomato soup.

liquidrevolution · 22/09/2016 20:57

No suggestions but am old lady I was caring for once told me that the best thing for a site throat was sperm.

She shouted it across a dining room on her care home. She was bonkers but ace Grin
