To feel gutted I have spent my birthday alone and with no birthday wishes..

Today is my birthday and it's been dreadful, I only have a handful of " friends" ( lost a lot of " friends" after I got diagnosed with a Chronic illness) and I see family when it suits them.

AIBU to feel gutted that i have not received one " Happy Birthday" and after inviting family over for a catch up and a slice of cake no one has turned up?

Or should I just brush it off and get on with it because I am a grown adult and birthdays are no longer important?

Currently sat here feeling sorry for myself with a take away and a very large slice of cake.

Happy Birthday you have been let down by those around you, that's horrible sorry, enjoy your takeaway, wine and cake. I think birthdays are often problematic for variety of reasons. Take the opportunity to think of things you enjoy and make plans to make sure you do them in the next year.
